Wow. There are a lot of great guitarists to be found on the internet, so it's really impressive when you find one who really blows you away with their awesome ability. Man, Phil Keaggy is a name I'll be searching up a lot from now on. Just astounding playing. You're doing things that are truly unique and sound fantastic. Brilliant stuff.
Just listened to my new amp. Ordering it as soon as I change channels. Awesome demo Mr Phil Keaggy. Roland should be paying you royalties for this performance
I got the privilege of seeing him live back in 99, amazing live looper artist and amazing humble man! I got to meet him and have him a drawing I did of him and he loved it. Very humble, nice man. Been following his music for twenty seven years.
I just ordered the Roland AC40, and I have to say this is one of the best Demos Ive seen. All my respect, love and admiration to the gentle soul who is perhaps the best man to demonstrate this incredible product :)
Phil is a magnificent musician! What an awesome demo. Thanks a lot for showing the features of the looper. Phil also seems like a very kind person. God bless and may you continue to have great musical fortune!
I’ve been following the brilliant Phil Keaggy since he was the lead guitarist in the Akron area band Glass Harp in the late 1960’s. If you want to hear an absolute killer of an electric guitar solo listen to Phil’s solo in the Glass Harp song Can You See Me. Outstanding electric player who transitioned to acoustic. He convinced me to get the Roland AC-33.
I came into this vid looking for a portable amp for my brother in law...I'm now seriously considering picking up one of these myself. Now, if I could just make it sound like this.... That man has some serious talent!
Incredible video; don't ever take it down. Not only did I enjoy it, I learned a lot. Also, please tell us what floor switches Phil is using, and give us a link to them. Thank you. (GREAT job, Phil. You really rocked it!!!)
This gentleman has had a well respected career at this stage he has a great balance in life great musician and a great person. I'm considering this amp, I've read it's 100% when AC powered but the sound quality is noticeably diffe ent on battery. Still checking reviews and will have to actually try one.. great review Phil
Urban legend. Phil will tell you that himself, and quite frankly I think he's tired of hearing it. What he is is the most versatile guitarist out there as he can play more styles and genres of music than anyone else. Most people stick to one style (blues, rock, bluegrass, classical, etc.), Phil can jump in and play them all. Ask Phil if he thinks he is the best guitarist out there, and he will name a half dozen that he thinks are better. His humility and soft-spokenness is what sets him apart from all the prima dona guitar players.
rockpapaman: That is false you can ask Phil Keaggy himself. The story goes, his band recorded in Jimi's studio. Two weeks later Jimi was dead, Phil doesn't believe Jimi ever heard him play. Ok now it's time for me and Captive Thoughts to duke it out on "Who is Phil's #1 Fan"!!!
PK has been playing for many years and he has stuck to his guns and his own way of playing. It speaks for itself. If you watch early videos of Les Paul and Mary Ford you can see the same joy. Every lasting joy!
Inspiring playing Phil. We have a pair of AC-33 amps which we use outdoors a lot, for jamming & recording. Our thing is getting outdoors which is where we love playing the most.
Flip. In. Heck. It's like having Michelangelo demonstrate a chisel for you or Bill Gates on tech support. I'm not sure who's more impressed, me or my neighbours! Thanks Roland and thanks Phil, you rock.
Amazing Phil! 1st time I saw you was around 1977 at Swing Auditorium in San Bernadino, CA. You're still amazing. Thanks for using that amazing talent for the Kingdom!
Hi Phill,I'm "E"we met at The Dagsboro church, they had dinner concert that evening and you sing a catalog for a friend, how are you!!! I'm just doing fine in my homeland Puerto Rico.glaad to see you. steel playing around,God bless you.
Yes all great pieces of work. It is just fun and enjoyable to sit and play like this. He was in Jax back in December and was great to see. Beyond Nature is my favorite. Riverton is a great song too.
Was very pleased to come across your video, I purchased one of these a couple of days ago, along with a Taylor 414ce L30. It has more than doubled my practice times moving up from a Fender amp and guitar. I'm in no way knocking Fender products because it wouldn't be fair since the guitar was just above an entry level, and the Taylor not so much Anyway, I think the key to becoming a better guitarist is the desire to want to practice more, and this new equipment has definitely achieved that. Enjoyed your video. God's speed. John C.
Last met Phil at a guitar workshop in the Colorado mountains way back in 1984. A lot of fun to see him use two capos, a variety of strumming tools and octave pedal in addition to the amp and two Boss FS-6 pedals. I wonder if it is possible to switch on the fly from looping guitar to looping the vocals like he did here in two takes.
Great demonstration, Phil Keaggy ! I was already thinking of getting one of them ..... so, i will ... I just wonder how it sounds when it comes to the nylon strings acoustic guitars. That's why I'll find a music shop to try it ... Thanks a lot anyway ! ... and you more than deserve that cup of tea ...
Hey Phil...me hopes you are on Roland's payroll...you have just sold this one on the AC-33...just wish I could make the guitar sound something close to what you can do! You are one hell of a muso! Thank you for sharing this...
I've been a fan of Phil Keaggy since 1978 when I first heard him playing guitar with 2nd Chapter of Acts on How the West was One. He inspired me then to be a better guitar player, and still does today. But more than that, he inspires me to be a humble Godly man. Thank you Phil for the many years of your inspiration.
Phil and Paul are actually acquaintances. I came across pictures of the two of them jamming before a wedding. Type in Phil Keaggy talks about Paul McCartney on youtube.
@@MrTomanderson76 As I recall, Linda McCartney's sister is a big Keaggy fan and had him sing at her wedding. I believe that's the only time Paul and Phil met.
Paul was a big influence on Phil. Phil's a child of 60s and 70s rock and The Beatles' sound. He had a band called Glass Harp, they did a few albums and then he became "born again." He's done Christian music since then.
Not To Use The Lords Name In Vain But....Jesus Christ....This Man Is Blessed.....Born For It....Wow....And Absolutely Wow Again....Superb Demo And Superb Playing And Singing.
Did you know you could lose a finger on an old-fashioned water pump? I think Phil has been using loopers since they were invented. He really shows what can be done with that roland looper, and even uses an extra foot switch for the effects. It does get a bit more expensive to get fancy with this amp, but I think it will be worth it.
My problem so far is that the Mic Channel is not very loud. I have to turn up the vocal channel to full to get any thing to come out. Where the Guitar channel only need's to be about a fourth to a third. I can find a pad button on it anywhere.
Super brilliant player! As for his demo, it appears he's only using a footpedal A/B box? I would say, for those considering the looping feature, that it isn't particularly useful, as I've a sophisticated digital delay that does this, and really, while it is cool for a bit, it's not something that I would predicate an amp purchase around. Of course, Phil is known for his layered soundscapes. The amp's portable battery ability IS really cool for certain situations - outside/ not near AC outlets. I would definitely also check out the Fishman Loudbox Mini, a little cheaper and with phenomenal sound, yet without as many adjustments.
So is the Fishman Loudbox Mini which can give up to 18 hours of play time. The Roland is battery operated and does not have an onboard rechargeable battery; which should be the next edition of this AC33, IMHO.
The capo near the nut is only for the 5th string. The first capo is for strings 1 to 4, and the sixth has nothing on it, but I think it has a lowered tuning.
Hatzz off to you Sir !! You are one of the best players ! Awesome composition and creativity sir ! what kind of music is this ? is it a country style? i would love to learn it ! hope some one guides !!! once again mind blowing sir ! and this is from the bottom of my heart.
Doug, your Samson C01 is a condenser and needs to have a 48volt current to feed it's capsule (this is commonly called Phantom Power) the AC33 does not have Phantom Power. Get a dynamic mic like a sure SM57 or great alternative is the Prodipe TT1. About £37.00.
Wondering why, if it has direct outs, is this being mic'd? I aready know the answer, but if it's going to be mentioned as a feature, it should be utilized as the other features were.
Mr. Keaggy’s playing has done nothing but get better over the years. And, to add to that, his voice is still golden. You are blessed and a blessing.
Wow. There are a lot of great guitarists to be found on the internet, so it's really impressive when you find one who really blows you away with their awesome ability. Holy $#*T! I came here for a product review and listened in humble awe of a master! Thank you Phil Keaggy!
finally a good show case of how epic the pairing of this amp and a great player can be!
Wow! Love the amp! But what this gentleman did with it and his music is true art!
I just ordered the Roland AC40, and I have to say this is one of the best Demos Ive seen. All my respect, love and admiration to the gentle soul who is perhaps the best man to demonstrate this incredible product :)
I saw Phil in Colorado several years back - still an absolutely amazing player. Thanks, Phil!!
I've never heard this man play before....I'm floored
Phil is a magnificent musician! What an awesome demo. Thanks a lot for showing the features of the looper. Phil also seems like a very kind person. God bless and may you continue to have great musical fortune!
Phil thanks for all the music and the joy you transfer while playing it.
Wow, this is a beautiful human being. Thanks for sharing your passion with us, it's a pleasure.
He is Christian too, acc. to his witness.
@@karelcuchal9813 ...wow..a double positive whammy!!!
You know when your listening to a master, they make something complicated look so effortless. This my friends is called elegance and grace.

Phil Keaggy is the best guitarist alive. Notice his middle finger is missing on his picking hand. I've been following him since 1970.
Phil is a beast...talk about sick skills! Been a fan for a long time.
I came into this vid looking for a portable amp for my brother in law...I'm now seriously considering picking up one of these myself. Now, if I could just make it sound like this.... That man has some serious talent!
Unbelievable, words fall short of his amazing gift. ❤
if you ever get a chance go see him live he is amazing and very entertaining

Bravo maestro. You've enlightened me. Great playing. Great show. Wonderful performance.
Phil Keaggy one of the best musician in the world, no matter what gear he use.

The amp is cool, but this guys playing is INCREDIBLE !
Somebody once asked Jimi Hendrix how it felt to be the best guitarist in the world. His response, " I don't know, ask Phil Keaggy."
Urban legend. Phil will tell you that himself, and quite frankly I think he's tired of hearing it. Caught him at the Fillmore East with Glass Harp ~1970ish -- was totally blown away. Seem to remember he was using some kind of sustainer?
Amazing guitar player and an all around nice guy.
Holy moly I am a super huge Phil Keaggy fan now. I like when he's playing mixolydian #4. Absolutely phenomenal
He has been playing since the 60's. Many albums too. If you go out and buy, "Beyond Nature" you won't be let down. Nor will this album ever get old.
*that* was an absolute blessing - esp. the reprise of "what a day" - amen and amen
incredible technic n musicality as well as sense of rythm n performance // a trully kickass dude
I came for the amp, i stayed for the performance! Mesmerizing!
Exactly. I never heard him before, although I believe I've heard his name in the past. Had no idea he is such a killer guitarist. Lucky us !!!
You and me both brother!!!!
PK has been playing for many years and he has stuck to his guns and his own way of playing. It speaks for itself. If you watch early videos of Les Paul and Mary Ford you can see the same joy. Every lasting joy!

Phil Keaggy. Still the best guitar player on the planet.
Would love to hear him play w/ Warren Haynes though. Passion and tone.

Thanks Roland and thanks Phil, you rock.
A true master blessed with the most incredible talent.
Phil, I met you at the Roller skating Rink in Ohio. You were playing Plynth water down the drain with the Glass Harp. I guess that dates both of us.
great musician lad, you are a truly fine musician. Very talented. I liked the amp a lot too
Incredible! It would be nice if Roland could ask him to do this again, only next time, have a split screen showing what his feet are doing throughout!
Yes, and I would like to see how he has the footswitches set up.
Me, three. And I would like a link to those switches, too. :)
With one mic and a small amp he sounds like a million bucks. Crazy talent.
oh Wow that is so awesome, loved Phil Keaggy playing on this amp

this guy is amazing. wonder what he'd do with 2 amps.
I wrote my last comment as this video was playing, then right at the end Phil sang and blimey if he don't sound just like Paul McCartney !

hmmm, I don't think I've ever seen one on his stage setup either. But it has been years since I last saw him play.
Ive Bought Two of them with The Boss FS6 and Stereo Cables to run the Looper on The AC33, God Bless
Beautifully done....Q: the mic in front of the amp is leading to where? Isn't that lovely bass presence coming from some other side speakers?
I'm guessing the condenser placed in front of the amp is running into his recording setup (interface->pro tools).
Will I sound like this if I buy an AC-33?
At last! A review that lets us hear the mic channel instead of concentrating on the guitar, because that’s what most buskers want an amp for.
