ARB elements fridge is hands down the best fridge on the market, mines lived outside, on my flatbed truck for 4 years now, thru all kinds of Colorado weather and its never failed , the exterior has gotten so hot from sitting in the sun that you cant touch it, but everything inside remains frozen, it uses less power than my dometic which stays inside the truck because its so well insulated
It was a lovely setting and an interesting video. I hope you've recuperated. You work a lot harder at being retired than I do, and I appreciate that you share your experiences with us.
You have such fancy equipment! We use an old fashion ice chest when camping. Replenishing the ice at a nearby store usually coincides with replenishing other supplies. Sorry for the loss of your second night of camping! Beautiful area with great exercising for you in preparation of your November trip! Thanks for sharing!
Great video! Looking forward to the follow-up with the new solar panel. Also, the hike to Benton Falls looked wonderful. While not a flood of water it was still beautiful and calming.
What a beautiful morning and the sounds of nature lovely. You have great equipment that makes life comfy during your camping trips. You have such energy. Great views too! ❤
Tim, Chilhowee/McKamy lake is hands-down my favorite neck of the woods. It was one of the first places my boyfriend, soon to be husband, took me to see. It has always been special to me. It has some great memories. I have camped there with two children, under two years old, in a tent and cooking over a fire. Such Fun times. Some of my old stomping grounds.
Thank you for the review. My husband and I are newly retired and investigating a portable solar panel v.s. a quiet, small generator for our new trailer ( w/ a refrigerator/freezer compartment). We are amazed to be able to camp and have ice cream out in the middle of nowhere. 😂
Lost my mojo a few years back and actually donated my film cameras and lenses to a friend that taught photography. Started to get the itch back after watching you, Ron, Phil and Dave and bought a new set up about a month ago. Sorry about the solar panel problems, hope you get it all worked out. Almost 100* here in the Pacific Northwest today, that lake sure looked inviting while I watched your video.
About the batteries...I got two Jackerys a 200 & a 500. The 500 keeps the fridge going all day & the 200 keeps it going all night. Also, have two 4 panel solar arrays with a connector to gang them if necessary. So far, I'm very happy with the way that works. I never have to run my fridge off the car system. Then, if my husband tags along and we have to put up a tent, we have power in the tent. 👍
Tim, Thanks for the honest review of the ICECO fridge, battery and solar panel setup. I use a similar system for camping also. My fridge uses @38 watts per hour. My power station puts out 268 watt/hours. By itself, the power station will power the fridge for 18 hours. The solar panel has a rating of 100 watts. Between the three of those, I enjoy continuous refrigeration, provided there is full sun. My advice would be to make sure that you have adequate headroom in your power station (battery) to power the fridge should you lose direct sunlight. The same goes for the solar panel. Make sure it has a watts rating enough to replenish the power station. I look forward to a follow-up video.
Loved the video walking down to benton falls. What a beautiful pathway. A shame about the power sources for the fridge; hopefully that gets sorted soon. Walking up to the gazebo or down to the falls will help you prepare for all the walking on your next long trip sightseeing. Enjoyed the sounds of nature in your video - so peaceful and serene
First things first😉 I LOVE how organized you are. Campside pour over coffee is the best way to start the day ( do you have a small hand held grinder?) Good video, thanks for putting this up!
As a photographer (hobby) I am in a bit of a picture taking slump this summer. I need my mojo back too. You camped at a lovely campground- park. Enjoyed your hike but you sounded a bit winded. Maybe the heat? I know that the summer heat and humidity slows me down and makes me sluggish . Loved your t- shirt and what it says. I use the same plate on my cameras that work on my tripods so I never have a problem with them not matching up.
I enjoyed the trip. The amount of flex in that bridge at 20:41 is scary. Impressive overlook view at 31:25. You may have done better at keeping cold things cold in a good insulated cooler.
I think I'd opt for a shaded site over an open site in the summer to keep the car from getting too hot. Plus during the day it would be less miserable to be outside.
Beautiful setting! Sorry about having to cut your trip short. My hobby obsessions (for lack of a better word) seem to wax and wane more often than they used to do. You'll get your photography mojo back at some point, when your other interests aren't so much at the forefront. Can't wait for your next camping trip!
Thank you for the video. Interesting honest review. You were out in nature and had exercise in beautiful surrounding. What make of car do you have? Blessings to you.
Maybe you need to go to someplace with wild animals. You still photos are gorgeous. But sometimes a challenge changes your perspective. Challenges sometimes motivates us. A good place is GNP or YNP. Gorgeous scenery and animals.
The thing that surprised me was the rapid temp rise once it stopped running. Ultimately, it is still a cooler and so it should keep things cold for a number of hours before ever getting near the temps the ones you saw. Any thoughts about that?
Bummer, you had to leave. At least you like the fridge. I think a Jackery will be your best bet for power. That's what l have. Could you have bought ice and used it as a cooler until you came home?
I was really worried during this video! I was wondering all the things that could go wrong, to make you leave early. Is he gonna trip and fall? Is there a family emergency? Glad it was just the cooler 😂
Hi, Tim. I never see ads or commercials & have no idea why but I love it & not going to analyze it, but I pay no extra for that. (YAY!!) Question: You are alone. What if some creep/weirdo/evil POS messes with you? Do you have protection on your person? As in a firearm, mace, bear spray, nun-chucks or whatever??!😲😳 Being in the north eastern pacific area, I would be very afraid by nightfall. Do any of those worries ever cross your mind??!
That is think the longest video you have done on your retired channel 😊 i like longer videos. Why do you think you have lost your mojo for your photography? It would be hard, even being retired to do three RUclips channels!!
Two things I do when watching creators is 1. speed it up 1.5x or 2x. 2. Another is tap forward 10 seconds if a part is not as interesting as I like. I think his hike/walk was beautiful. However, as a fellow hiker, experiencing is 1000x better than watching.

wow , i enjoy that . this is precious to you .
beautiful!
Love the Tennessee trees. You haven't lost your mojo it's just been diverted to creating videos. Thanks for bringing us along.

Coming up... 😊
good luck next time!

I enjoyed the picturesque journey. Loved the gazebo view, greenery, walk & peacefulness. Original T shirt!
Anything outdoors for me as well
You're such a trooper. I do like the car awning!
you have a very soothing demeanor. I am in the middle of watching. Beautiful scenery, good looking dinner!
Started out well!
Looked a lovely spot very peaceful.
Hopefully the solar panel switching out will work now.
Good luck next time 😊

Love your “out of breath hiking society” shirt. You do good!
You are resilient! 💪
You sure got a nice workout with all that hiking! Thank you for taking us along to see the Falls and the gazebo. Nice video!
😊
Enjoyable 😊
What an adventure. That steak looked very tender. All that hiking! Wow! That battery seems too small for sure. I made it to the end. :)

@@k26kv31 I live in the PNW too- sure has been a hot summer - hate it

I do have a grinder. But I got a couple of coffee samples I wanted to try that were already ground.

It’s a VW Tiguan
@@TheNewRetiredMe Thank you.
Solar panels need direct sun to work properly. Plus it depends what wattage they were.
Most of the day it was at the front of my car in direct, zero clouds, 95 degree sun. :)
@@TheNewRetiredMe oh ok. Hopefully the new panel works better.
Full sun without shade is required for the solar panel from my experience.
It had that at the front of my car for hours. It didn’t help.
educational plus interesting thank Tim and out and about hooray dont worry about mojo
😊
Where are all the people? It looks like such a beautiful and quiet campground. I'm envious.

Very technical
The thing that surprised me was the rapid temp rise once it stopped running. Ultimately, it is still a cooler and so it should keep things cold for a number of hours before ever getting near the temps the ones you saw. Any thoughts about that?
I haven’t considered that. But I’ll do some checking.
Next time take a drop cord just in case so you can stay on your camping trip. 🙂🙂
Can you connect more than one salary panel to the battery?😊
I don’t think it is designed that way.
Citio crate? Please let me know where these can be purchased. And if I spelled it correctly!
