The Wavestate is amazing. Not had mine long so still finding out what it’s capable of. Thanks for an awesome tutorial. You really know your way around it!
Great video, I really hope to achieve such level of control on my Wavestate. How did you accomplish that the synth holds the notes you play on it? I tried using the hold function, but it plays the notes simultaneously instead of alternating between them. Maybe switch to mono? Or are you even using the hold function? Also I presume that everytime the synth stops playing by itself, you just cut the video and turned the hold function off, if you used it. My problem is that since my hold function plays the notes simultaneously, they sound different on top of each other, not very 303.
Great tutorial! Did you have any particular reason for both setting timing step length to 16th AND turning on Note Advance? You could have left Note Advance off, or you could have set timing to anything equal to or longer than 16th and kept Note Advance on. There are some minor differences to the result in terms of drift and sync between layers. Just wondered if you had given that some thoughts.
By adding note advance to the timing lane with the arpeggiator, you can have interesting rhythmic variations by setting the timing lane to be a subdivision of the arpeggiator time. I try this at one point by setting the first two steps of the timing lane to 32nd notes, but ultimately it sounded a little bit unclear so I changed them back to 16th notes. Also, the timing lane determines the value that is being adjusted by the gate lane, so if the arpeggiator is running at 16th notes, and the timing lane is set to 16th notes, the gate lane will have durational values that fit the arpeggiator's note length.
This video is really well done and shows just how complex and difficult it is to create sounds on this if you're really smart. My question is, is it possible to enjoy this synth if you're a dummy. Like can you just mash buttons and get random but cool results?
It's obvious that I wouldn't buy a 700 € synth to make the exact same thing which you can do with a 250 € synth from the same synth family from where the Wavestate is - and a whole lot easier for that matter. But, I came to listen the bass capablities and that is what you provided, so thank you for that.
@@salvarsaani ahh, gotcha. Yeah, I guess as a stripped-down mono synth, that Korg Mono can replicate the sound quicker and easier, as opposed to trying to replicate that on a WS. Having said that, I did appreciate the poster for demonstrating that it can be possible on a WS (albeit in a more long-winded fashion)..
@@actonspur5231 Not Korg "Mono", Korg Monologue. And with two 5 octave VCOs, LFO, EG, resonance, drive, EG and LFO pitch controls, 16 step step sequencer, 100 memory slots, 4 track motion sequencer with crystal clear LCD display and oscillation curve display with lots of other goodies it's not stripped down and most definitely not aiming to be any version of the WS. They both belong in the same synth family, but are totally two different devices for different purposes.
@@salvarsaani yup, I was referring to the monologue...it's surprisingly more feature-packed than I initially gave it credit for ! That motion controller alone makes a difference..
I agree. I almost gave up, because of frustration - but after about a week, it all started to make sense. Totally want the 61 key aftertouch version though!
I almost bought one of these off your last video, love your wavestate videos.
Thanks Will! : )

Great video, thanks for posting. I bought the Wavestate for this modelling potential and you are showing how it can be done!
All of your videos are super helpful, thanks!.
Very helpful tutorial! Thank you
Great tutorial, thanx! 👍

Just using a pedal controller for sustained notes; small investment that greatly expands the functionality of the instrument!
@@bluecliffsynthesis6685 Ohh, you just made my evening, I already own one, it just didn't occur to me. Thanks, I'll be watching.

With the new update and the editor...is way easy to use and faster

@@actonspur5231 Heck no. Though being a Korg device, I was referring to Korg Monologue.

Hi there,no joke,how do i turn off the wavestate? I really forgot it,thanks 👍🎹.
Is it possible to upload my own sound samples ( leads, basses, drvms, voices, etc. ) and mix them with other layers to design new sounds ?
It is not unfortunately, one can only use the sounds the device comes with.
Yes, you can now with v2.0 update !!
Easily the best money i have spent in years. They look intimidating but really are not that hard to use.
I agree.
