+Robert Viani thank you. That’s something that a lot of folks forget when setting up their graphics… empty pixels are still pixels and making the overall graphic closer to the size of the image can help on loading speeds and bandwidth.
Bradley, I have been struggling with Ecamm graphics. I came to your page not even knowing how to describe my issue. You solved my issue with this video absolutely perfectly. I appreciate you taking the time to help.
Bradley thank you for your tutorials. I have been in the design and advertising industry for over thirty years and your presentation style is very good and has helped me tremendously. God Bless you!
Thank you so much for your kind words. When another industry pro and folks new to doing graphics both think what you're doing is good, it helps me know I'm on the right track.
Thank you so much. You just saved me countless hours of frustration as I’m just now starting to use Keynote to make videos. Now that my toolbar is organized I feel much more motivated to get going.
Brilliant Bradley. I've considered myself to be 'proficient' in the use of Keynote for graphics but I learnt something new in just the first 2.31 min of your video. Thank you for sharing your wisdom. Keen student here :)
So helpful! I love your ground-up approach to this, from customizing the toolbar to create the right working environment all the way through. This is the first of your videos that I've encountered, and I've already become a fan. Thanks for what you do!
Thank you! I'm glad this was helpful. It's kind of like getting ready to cook a great meal and all your dishes and cooking utensils are in the dishwasher... having your tools ready makes the job easier.
Great tips! Especially the masking one, but I always thought it was better to prep your graphics at a higher resolution than your final resolution so you could move and place them as you needed by shrinking them instead of expanding them so you don't get jagged edges. Keynote is a raster vs. vector-based app, is it not?
Final output from keynote is raster (unless you’re exporting PDFs), any video format is raster. You can definitely export your files larger than needed and size them down in whatever app you’re using.
The 'memoji' head was made in Apple iOS. I do have a tutorial of my process of making it, just need to upload it. The memoji is not a keynote tutorial though because it calls for things keynote cannot do, but I can definitely add it as an 'extra' tutorial.
Bradley is there a way to create and save multiple toolbars that we can call up for different uses? For example, say we want to keep the default tool bar, your toolbar and another toolbar? Can we name them and replace as needed?
CAREForce unfortunately, keynote does not have a multi-toolbar option. It allows you to easily go back to the default toolbar but there’s no way to save multiple versions.
How do you move the toolbar settings (created here) to a new computer running keynote. It appears the toolbar settings are connected to the app when opened rather than the key file. Make sense?
That's exactly what it is... because the toolbar cannot be 'saved' there's no way for it to move from system to system. I suggest that folks take a quick screen capture after they have set it up like they want then use it as a template to make the toolbar on other systems (then you don't have to watch the video each time, LOL)
If I've been using PowerPoint for 30 years and can practically do it in my sleep, is there an advantage to learning Keynote? I have a new boss who is using Ecamm and saw this video in an email from them (from 2 years ago!). I think he wants to incorporate graphics into his videos and he may already use Keynote, but I'm just wondering if I have to go through the learning curve or if PowerPoint does most or all of the same things. :)
I don’t use PPT extensively, but I’ll ask you these Qs… Can it cut a shape from a shape (for overlays)? Can it export videos w/ transparency (AppleProRes4444 or webm)? This is how I export animations from keynote to use as lower et al. Can it fill shapes (w/ transparent areas) w/ images or colors? If you answered “no” for most of these, keynote it is. The learning curve is not extreme, my videos can walk you through what you need to make elements for videos.
Thank you for your kind words. Yes, you can use HEXCODE colors in Keynote. When in the "Style" palette and picking the color fill, click on the color wheel next to the color drop-down box. When in the color wheel palette, click the second icon on the top "RGB Sliders", there's a place to plug in your hexcode in that section.
This channel and your videos are GOLDEN! So glad I found you!
Thank you so much for the kind words! More great things to come, including more LIVES, really soon 😎.
+Nick Edgar thank you for dropping by! Stay tuned for new tutorials!
+Nick Edgar thank you! Appreciate your support & stay tuned, more good things on the way!
Love the resizing of the lower third box & camera icon box for greater placement flexibility!
+Robert Viani thank you. That’s something that a lot of folks forget when setting up their graphics… empty pixels are still pixels and making the overall graphic closer to the size of the image can help on loading speeds and bandwidth.
I've learned more from you in two hours than I did in 4 years of college.
+Yolanda R 😊 thank you so much for the kind words. More great things on the way!

Thank you. This is a great foundational video for those that want to really use keynote in a new way.
This is great brother
Thank you! This is a core video to get folks ramped up to create cool things with keynote. #KeepCreating

Hi Bradley. Great tutorial. How do you generate the animated pic of yourself? Thank you

Just started using Ecamm and this was very helpful. Missing the PDF though.
.Pdf is linked now in the description, here's a direct link- bit.ly/kn-setup
You are the man
Appreciate it!

Hey Bradley, great video, however, I thought you said there would be a PDF in the description to download and I don't see one?
There will (on the .pdf), I had to make a few edits to it and need to upload the new file.
The .pdf is available now! Here's a direct link- bit.ly/kn-setup Let me know what you think

Thank you so much for these videos. You're a great teacher. Does Keynote all you to use custom color codes...my blue is #00ACD77
