This is the best tutorial on text animation with Keynote. Clear, simple, straight-forward instructions that are easy to follow and execute. Great teaching--thank you very much!
Fella. You have just saved me about ten hours of meticulous work - by something you did in the video, not the subject of what you're doing! Hats off to you and another subscription.
@@BradleyTeaches labelling every single object. My keynotes have hundreds of elements many of them the same small line as part of a diagram and I've been unable to label them from the build order. Seeing you open the object list is new to me.
That’s cool! Just those little things that can make production/workflow that much more efficient. I realized it’s also a requirement to get ‘magic move’ to work correctly… a bunch of objects with the same name (usually due to copy/pasting) will break magic move and give unexpected animation results.
This is great! I am assuming if I made the strokes green as well as the background, export to iMovie, I can green screen the clip and make it seem as if I am writing over video (I will try it and see if that works)
I really don’t use iMovie, but the graphics and animations that I do tutorials for can be used in iMovie if the exported format is supported. I can definitely do more transitions tutorials though.
Hello Sir - Your example letter is more linear "VM" with straight start/end nodes. How to trace letters like H or K or R which are not linear in shape ? Please advice. Thanks
Depends on the technique being used. Now if you have green screen capabilities in your video editor/live streaming app you can use “green” and make it transparent.
I'm guessing you might be talking about what I call a "video bug/logo". Yes I have videos on making them. If you have specific questions about them let me know.
@@BradleyTeaches not sure . But I figured it out. I am educator and want to add my logo to my slides so students for just go sharing my work. But I followed what they do with PowerPoints and got through. Will look at those videos so I can do it for my video recordings. Thanks so much for responding.
I don’t use iPad keynote enough to say honestly. It does have many of the same builds as the desktop version, but the biggest downside to iPad is that it cannot export apr4444 (transparent movie) files. If you do full screen animations that don’t need transparency you could do the builds- I think that iPad can export ‘regular’ videos but will need to look that up.
Absolutely awesome you make the complex simple I've been trying to figure this using magic move, it sort of worked, but not as good as this thank you so much. I would like to know how add background music to the animation I can only get it to run for about 2 seconds it would be great to add background music to the animation without having to put it through imovie thanks
You have to add the audio to the slide and have it play as long as the animation is going. If you plan to export it as a transparent video, you’ll need to export as an HEVC, those videos allow exporting with audio.
Everything worked fine for a while, but then I lost the line draw selection in build out when trying to animate. How can I fix? Any replies are welcome from anybody who knows how to fix the problem.
Line draw is only an option if you have drawn a line with the line segment tool or have an outline on a shape. I don’t know if there is any other reason the option would disappear.
@@BradleyTeaches Thank you Bradley. I tried again after reading your reply and discovered that I actually need to select a drawn line to get the option. I appreciate your interest. Now, I'm trying to resolve a few issues I've encountered in the exporting process, so if I can't find the solution, I will turn to you for it. I appreciate your expertise, my friend!😎
great video! I'm trying to get my text to flicker on keynote I'm finding it really hard do you think you could make a video of how to do that? thankyou
You could use the ‘scribble’ technique to reveal the logo. If the logo is a line drawing, it would be possible to use the tracing example from the video. If you sent me a link to see your logo I could give you more insight.

+@evelync177 thank you so much for the kind words! I pride myself on ‘making it plain’ and so happy you feel I accomplished that #KeepCreating!
Very well done. Thank you for a very clear and concise animated explanation.

Love this technique, Thanks Bradley!
This is def a low work/high impact technique that's worth trying to up your animations.
Thanks again Bradley for another great video tutorial!

Great question! Make line segments and work on the timing by using “with” and “after” to make them look smooth.
Nice work. I suppose you could make it transparent if you started with a black box in the lower third.

Have you done or can you do a video showing how to add a watermark to keynotes?

Although iPad does have a lot of the animations like the desktop version, the iPad cannot export in Apple ProRes4444 that creates transparency.
Thank you@@BradleyTeaches

I just did a quick experiment with that and I can make a video tutorial for it. I'll put it in the queue for creation. Thanks for the idea!

I have a logo that is my signature. Does this technique work with a logo or does it have to be font?
