    Good narration. Much better than simply a music track like some others have done.

    Dude how do you find that many eager hardworking guys to do that kind of work? That's back breaking work and seems like they really get after it and aren't really spending excessive time standing or sitting around

    Great video, but why don't you dig out a ramp on the outside of the house & use a skid steer, or at least a Mini Excavator with the roof off? That's a lot of work by hand. They machine dig them in Georgia.

      Emissions, partly. On most of the crawl space conversions we've done that approach wouldn't be feasible because of limited accessibility, squeezed between buildings, obstacles and risk factor. I would like the opportunity to document a crawl space conversion done with heavy equipment. Maybe one day I'll have the chance and we could dig up some more info to compare side by side...

    I really enjoyed this video. Thanks for taking the time to make it. Maybe I missed it, but did you use gravel under the slab? Cheers

    Im assuming digging a basement requires permits or approval could you elaborate on that?

    • @GoldsConcrete
      @GoldsConcrete  3 месяца назад

      A basement dig-out, or a "crawlspace conversion," as most contractors like to call them, requires a permit. That is what must be acquired, or you have to do it in secret. And not make any noise. I watched this documentary one time, this guy did it with a spoon...

    I am curios how do you get the footer concrete all the up to and touching the existing footing? Like stuff it in there and vibrate it? Seems it would always slump down away from the existing footer and not give it good support.

    this is amazing thanks for sharing ive been thinking about doing a 12 x12 crawl space .. how long did this take and

      Budget $100 PSF, for the dig and concrete box, so you're looking at $14.4K at a contractor cost. Here most contractors mark it up at least 50%. Who knows what Gold's charges, but this is a good general rule of thumb when thinking about cost.

      yes they do have vacuum trucks that offer this service but it prolly costs a bit and the dirt has to be loosened up first too
