    I learned more about this process in the first 2 minutes than I have in all the other 14 videos i have watched so far.

      A lot of the videos touch on different aspects of the basement remodel, some are for education and others are just for documentary entertainment. Thanks for watching!

    As much as I enjoy the time lapses, your explanation of the foundation wall and footer dig out, moisture barrier, rebar, and dirt conveyor are the most helpful to me to see how this might be done on our home should we go this way with an addition.

    Sketch or drawing of job and photos of entire home would give perprective of what is being done on each episode making it easier to understand what is accomplished along with actual sq ft to be increased and cubic yards needed to be removed for the scope of project prehaps as a regular in the intro showing what will be accomplished. For me this information would be more intresting whike watching. Thanks

      This is a great idea ! Thank you for the input, we'll look into implementing that.

    You should discuss the process involved when completing one of these project in an HOA neighborhood. What’s the challenges when working with an HOA? Is it even possible in an HOA? Are certain HOA prohibitive?

    thanks for making these videos they really are important to spread awareness that this type of basement underpinning work is even possible. Not everybody knows about this and how doable it is.

    You talk about the benefits of conveyor belts... You may want to give us a basic rundown on manufacturers, types... and MOST DEFINITELY - cost involved. Most people, if they do this themselves, might not find the one time purchase of a conveyor cost justified for their one project. It's different for you guys who make a business out of this work. I was going to use buckets... but you got me thinking now.... lol.

    What sort of material are you using for your waterproofing and vapor barriers? It looks like its maybe a generic poly sheet?
    Also any thoughts on the new super small battery operated skid / front loaders for projects like this? Seems like they'd be small enough to fit

    • @GoldsConcrete
      @GoldsConcrete  Год назад

      We use a thick 15 millimeter plastic for our waterproofing. And the super small battery skids are pretty cool but even then its a tight fit in almost all crawlspace conversions.

    Love the videos and like everyone else has said, the information you provide is fantastic! I have a split level here in Salt Lake City and my crawl space is about 40" - 48" from dirt to floor joist. Only house on the street without it dug out and all the other homes having the same floor plan. There being nothing in the middle of the area supporting anything, and I can access it through a door in the middle of the house, (obviously engineer review needed) but the dig out could be started in the middle of the space and work outwards leaving about 2 feet to the foundation walls. Then I would have a contractor come in and do the under pinning, because obvious reasons :). Then the project could save money and go over a longer period since full time day job.

    I've been following your videos for a while now and I have to say kudos to you and your team. Thanks for the information, I feel empowered to do this myself. Buuuut, I'm probably not, so I need to find your expertise in the Raleigh NC area. Can you suggest what questions to ask, what things to look for when hiring a basement creation contractor. There are some details I've seen on your vids that I'll ask for, but any technical questions you would ask if you were hiring a similar contractor?
    Thanks!

    You guys always do a very good job. My dig is by bucket due to the awkward access i have. It works for me as i’m juggling a full time self employed job (Electrician -UK) and building this.
    Question: how far do your underpins go under the existing footing? Is it the full width?

    • @GoldsConcrete
      @GoldsConcrete  Год назад +1

      Thats dependent on an engineer, and these ones are full width !

    So what kind of contractor do you have to find to do this? I’ve been wanting to do this for years. My entire house has a crawl space under it about 2,199 sqft. There’s easy access from the garage to the crawl space. Do you guys travel? Any recommendations in the El Paso Texas area, thank you and thanks for the great videos, very informative!!!

    What are your thoughts on digging down to bed rock, and then building off that? suggestions on moisture control methods are welcome.

    • @mauriciogonzalez6302
      @mauriciogonzalez6302 Год назад

      The thing about that is bedrock depth varies based off location. So it wouldn’t make much sense to always rely on bedrock. I think it’s enough to just build off undisturbed soil. I’m no expert though.

    I’d like to learn more about the jack hammers used, the rebar for the footings, if the rebar is connected into the existing wall/footer and what drill you use for that? Same question as the other commenter. How much is it to rent a conveyor system to remove the dirt?

    What kinds of permits do you need to do a job like this?

    • @GoldsConcrete
      @GoldsConcrete  Год назад +1

      You need an engineer to go over the specifics of your home ! Every state and county is different

  • @JackReacheround

    What would you say a ballpark estimate on an excavation like this one would cost?

    So I've noticed the regular and fast setting concrete bags in a few videos now. Why the mix?

    • @GoldsConcrete
      @GoldsConcrete  Год назад

      we mix them together to speed up the drying time ! And sometimes we have some left over bags from other jobs.

    • @lastfrontier6536
      @lastfrontier6536 Год назад

      @@GoldsConcrete never thought of that. I was wondering if it was something like using the quick Crete for a footing, then setting your forms and using the regular for the vertical.
