Used to see Bert in folk Clubs around London and Essex. Bunjies, The Troubadour, Les Cousins, Chelmsford, Brentwood etc. He inspired me to take up guitar. 60 years later and I'm still plucking those strings. Thank You Bert and may you Rest with a song on your lips and a guitar in you fingers. ❤
My gawd he played Crimson Moon. I'm in floods of tears at home. That song means so so much to me... Sing To Me by The Durutti Column too. It's like Bert just punched me in the heart.
Bert Jansch is one of my favorite guitar players. I'm grateful for the beautiful music he made and his low-key, gentle ways. It seems like this video is of a second set. I wish there was one for the first set, too. Must have been wonderful, too.
Like everyone else here, I thank you for posting this treat, it captures that 'energy' he had in his performances, very genuine. I saw him live a couple of times, amazing!, and a really nice guy too!. Thanks again.
Oh. My god what a treasure this is. Thank you so much for uploading. Bert so relaxed and brilliant. He has been a backdrop to my life since the les Cousins days.
How lovely to have a Bert gig to listen to - thank you for posting it. I'm very touched by his tribute to Victor Jara - I did not know how evil that regime in Chile was. We have a duty to pass on a love of good music to future generations.
Saw Bert on this tour at the Ardhowen in Enniskillen. My favourite acoustic guitar player and probably the most influential player on my guitar style. Thanks zillions for putting this up.
Bert sang from his Soul and I learned a special kind of sweetness to strive for in my own playing since first hearing him Pentangle still amaze me until this day.
These comments show how much Beret was loved. Remember the first few notes of Running From Home at Les Cousins all those years ago. He was about two hours late and had had a few, but it was sheer magic.
Its from a Jackson C Frank Album which bert had on vinyl and was used to re release Franks only LP. Bert covered a few of Franks songs, BLUES RUNS THE GAME being one.
This is incredible, I've listened through to this many times over & it has helped me through many a tour of my own. Is there anywhere this can be purchased? It seriously contains some of the best versions of the material I've heard, and I listen to it as often as I do his back catalogue. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks profusely for posting, and thanks to Bert for the inspiration. SK x
Jesus, I was at this. I thought his wife was with him and sang near the end? Perhaps it was a different night? I saw him at the Playhouse on Pump Street Derry too.
I know Marr said that Jansch's version of "Lady Nothing" was a direct influence on The Smiths' "Unhappy Birthday", but the acoustic version of "Back to the Old House" is pure Jansch too
I apologize to the other members of The Pentangle who added so much to his style and renditions of British Isles folk rock and classics. Listening to him and John Renbourne was like listening to one instrument and Jacki McShee added the soprano.
I saw Bert's LA turnaround for this Crimson Moon tour in Santa Monica and then twice after that. The later shows where when he was rediscovered by hipsters and it was kind of bitter sweet. Bert didn't miss a step but I felt a little frustrated because the first time I saw him was for the 'When the Circus Comes To Town' tour again at McCabes and just like the Crimson Moon tour it was an 'old folkie' show. In the end it was sort of a pre mortum Nick Drake scenario. From the early 90's until the sad day it was always 'yea thats Bert, the greatest ever' for me. Where were all the scenesters then? Everyone that loves Bert's music has to be glad that he got his due before he passed. What took all the modern youth so long to catch up?
wanker, your basically saying "I have such sophisticated taste in music, what took everyone so long to catch up to me". Seriously what makes someone a "scenester", I would argue that leaving a comment like yours makes you one, trying to put yourself above what im assuming are just fans that are younger than you.

Ah, to have been in the audience for this intimate evening! Rest In Peace, Bert.
Wish I could've seen this genius perform live, absolutely beautiful
one of the most influential guitarists ever....never cared for commercial glory or image...yet so inspirational.
Over 50 minutes of Bert...what more could you want? R.I.P. Bert Jansch.
What a presence he had. I would have loved to seen him in person. His influence was world wide even all the way here to Texas!

This footage is golden.
A huge inspiration for me this man. Watching the way he plays is very useful for every guitar player. O.o
Amazing BJ is a wizard on the guitar No doubt about that rip
Brilliant Bert, as ever.

grab a RUclips to MP3 converter from the web and you will be able to download it as MP3. No disrespect intended to the original poster of this video.

Wow. This is awesome - would love to know the name of the song that starts in 33:00 really shows were Johny Marr of the Smiths get his influence
+Dave Holly sorry make that 34:13 !
+Dave Holly Yup, so influential. It's called looking for love.
+Brendan Ryan awesome thanks so much. I'll hunt the album out to add to my ever growing collection :)

@@boosh90 funny coz everybody seems to forget that lady nothing was first composed by John Renbourn
i didn't see this guitarist
Does anyone know what song is at 10:30 please ?
This is great! Does anyone know how old Bert was here?
Born 1943, so Bert would have been 56/57yrs old. Just a kid.
Yes
Can someone do a track list for this? It is great but I am not as familiar as I should be. Love it, though
First tr@ck is C@rniv@l which w@s used in JOKER ,Movie

Poor audio capture. Sad because the playing and singing seem great.

It took so long because the youth is innondated with crap passed off as music.
The fault and the solution both lie in the fact that it's capitalists who are responsible for spreading music across the globe.
Check "reevedavey" on you tube..
Don't UNDERSTAND.What IS IT.
It's music, brother - it's music 🎶
