Oh Simon! ha ha. I had the same kind of thing happen just yesterday. I'm repairing/cleaning my late housemates Jeep to prepare it for sale, and I'd laid the keys in my bedroom on the bookshelf. When I wash the laundry, everything vibrates (mobile home) - and the keys fell, and I knew it, so as I knew where they were, I didn't immediately retrieve them. I had set up a small table with two PC's I was working on in front of the shelf. I went to "get the keys" and they weren't there on the floor in front of the shelf. I tore into all of the shelves and everything looking for these keys, and then found them dangling in the wires from the two PC's on the small table (which I had so carefully moved out of the way, the keys never made it to the ground.) I took hours looking for them! Ha ha...

I can't believe it "They thought it was dead so did nothing "...Ok eventually they moved but why oh why that ghastly netting .?
The world is not theirs to create death traps in and besides which it looks tacky ..If I saw a bird or any creature I'd never shrug and say oh it's dead .Time is off the essence . End of rant ;) As for Owl poo try the lotto this week you may well win .Muck for luck:👍🦉

The lady who notified us is not involved in the placement of pond netting. Birds, when exhausted, stressed and trapped, are known to 'play dead'. We don't are grateful she came back to check on it and took action.

@@wildlifeaid that much I gathered but until netting is banned or seriously discouraged you may be best off to have a key round your neck lol Was that your key at 1:28....

You need to add the device to your keys that you can beep with the phone. That would save a lot of money.
    Beautiful owl.

When you checked the owl bag I felt it was there and was surprised when you didn't find it. My instincts were all on the bag. This was so funny, guys!😂It would've driven me mad too. Poor Simon!

LOL - This morning, I found my checkbook, which has been missing for several months! I knew it had to be in the house somewhere. Turns out that it fell into the grocery shopping bag and because the neighbors have been taking turns going grocery shopping, I didn't know it was there until today. Whew! So relieved.

I hope that woman feels really bad in her decision to just assume the owl was dead and left it there to suffer. Get rid of that dreadful netting or it will happen again.
Thank you Simon and Lawrie for another successful rescue.

See Wildlife Aids’ response to a similar comment further on. Many, if not most, people wouldn’t even have bothered to check on it a second time. She did, AND she called for help. Good for her.

Simon, you need one of those key clips that attaches to your belt loop. That was too funny.
