    All I can say is WOW! The borax factory was pretty cool, but OMG the artist's palate was a stunner!! Thanks as always for the trip!

      The blue skies really do it, don't they? Everything looks amazing framed by them. And we didn't know either prior to looking into the park! 😅

    This is seriously a cool place to checkout. I love to learn about history the history in the area we visit if there is historical artifacts to talk about. In this case there is plenty to check out. The famous pupfish living in Death Valley National Park, who would have known. I never knew. That boardwalk was a nice touch to the area and being able to walk on. Nice video.

      @@CactusAtlas when is the best time to visit Death Valley

    • @CactusAtlas

      Definitely not summer unless you're into punishing heat and crawling around from place to place zapped of energy. 🤣 I saw the forecast when I was publishing our article on our website and this week is in the 60s and 70s there so probably right around now is good. The temps are still mild and those pupfish should be out which we'd love to see. We saw someone else's video pre-pandemic and the Visitor Center even has plush pupfish toys so they're clearly a popular thing to see there. LOL

    Death Valley is on our bucket list! Such an amazing place...even a stream with fish. Wow. I can’t imagine working there with the heat, but the views are stunning.

    • @CactusAtlas
      @CactusAtlas  3 года назад

      The heat when it gets up to 130F would be pretty tough and that's coming from someone living in Phoenix where it gets over 110 degrees Fahrenheit quite regularly in the summer!

      @@CactusAtlas I (V) was in Phoenix one summer visiting family and we had a picnic where the bread honestly turned to toast! I can't handle that heat!

    The colors in those mountains were stunning!
    And the borax mine was cool.
    The pupfish were out for therapy due to an identity crisis.

      🤣 It would be fun to see the pupfish in spring. Also to see more of Death Valley now that we have our truck but that summer storm they had still made a mess of things and a lot of the off roads still aren't open last we checked.

    I was on the crew that built that trail in 1976. Everything was carried by hand or wheel barrel on the completed sections as no vehicle's or power tools were allowed near the creek.

    Never realized Death Valley could have some very pretty scenery. Pupfish, interesting fish. Maybe they burrow under the mud.

      It's a huuuuge park so there's lots of variety in scenery! More than we expected before researching the place for sure! 😄

    nice salt creek hike.. we got to see it in Spring and there were quite a few fish. It was flowing more than this when we went but i cant say it is seasonal or if it was just coincidence due to recent rains, if it rains in october, the creek might flow stronger then too... I also wonder where do the fish go to hide? going to have to look it up again... You did a Great job filming the area. Those are tiny insects, not fish sorry. haha love how you do the sounds haha The water comes from a spring not far from where you ended your hike, but yeah that spring gets its water from underground flows from the mtns... crazy stuff... Awesome look at Artists' Drive. I havent been yet and for all the videos ive seen no one ever showed the parking lot that is good to know. (you can also park off pavement elsewhere along the Drive and walk around if you wish)// i like that overlook the Valley view alone is worth the stop i think. The Palette is of course Stunning. Thanks so mush for taking us with you

      Thanks so much! You're quite lucky to see the fish! Didn't think there would be any out given the time Glenn went out there but were still hoping. We're definitely wondering where they head off to off-season as well! They're definitely tough little fish!

      @@CactusAtlas appears only a few survive to winter and hide out in the deeper pools way up by the springs, so they are out there, just not where you can spot them/ the pools are away from the walkways surrounded by vegetation.. hope you can go back in spring sometime and see them, ps great look at the borax works too. ive stopped there but never took a good walk around

    Beautiful! What causes the light green coloration in the Artists Pallete?

    • @CactusAtlas
      @CactusAtlas  3 года назад +2

      If I remember correctly, a combo of different minerals and potentially oxidation
