hey eli, was just doing some computer support for a small business and was curious if they are using an old version of Sage accounting Business Vision software is mapping network drives a must?
Hey brother, I need to know can we map a drive with an IP address ?? So if I have shared drive on a PC with an static IP, and if I can somehow map that shared drive to another PC using its IP (Where in both the computers are not in LAN) Will appreciate your expert advice on this.
Hey Eli, I have netgear R6300 router and Wndow 7. I attached external storage to Netgear by USB. here my problem, I used the wrong letter in Mapping network drive. I used Z when it should be U. How can I correct that error.
I know this question is a year old, but not sure if you (or anyone looking at this for an answer) has gotten an answer. If you're trying to connect to a server/NAS, etc that you have the IP address to it, to map it you would type in \\###.###.###.### - if the server had an IP address of 192.168.2.106, to map it, in the folder box type in: \\192.168.2.106 For lets say the E drive on the server you would type in: \\192.168.2.106\E For lets say the Mass Storage folder then you'd type: \\192.168.2.106\Mass Storage Etc.
Is there a way to map a URL as a drive?? I have a WD My Cloud (NAS drive) and would like it to act like a drive (like it does when I'm on my home network) outside of my network. I can access this drive by going to mycloud.com, but when I try to map that address as a drive letter, it says it can't connect. How can I map this drive to work as a drive letter when I'm outside of my network? One example it with OneNote it syncs to this drive mapped as drive letter Y, I'd like to be able to open and access the notebooks like it does when I'm on my network over the internet.
John, Not sure if this helps but I can access my Linux shared server this way. However, I am not sure if the same thing will work on your Cloud Server. If you would like to know how I mapped the drive, I can help you with that, drop me a message on FB - facebook.com/lorenzothechosen or mail me on lzo.cooray@gmail.com
For some reason not one of these techniques work for me I follow each technique step-by-step and I still have no network drives so I can't access the Internet
I also get asked sometimes for my Windows Credentials! I dont have any Windows Credentials - I dont want any - its just me on my 3 computers. I click on Windows Credentials are there are none there!
I have a laptop and on my HDD, I have movies. I want to share this content to everyone that has access to my WiFi. The second thing, I have a external HDD that is connected to my D-link 868L router that also have movies on. I use this external HDD as storage, since I have limited space on my laptop, and don't want to have a external HDD plugged in to it every time. The problems I have been having is that I cannot share my external HDD to anyone else for some reason. I go to another computer, I can see my router but not the external HDD. it also appears that I can only open it in "Windows media player" for some reason. What I want to avoid is to use every computer and map that external HDD. I want to use that external HDD so everyone can access what's on it, and it should work on every device like "iPad, game console, TV" So this devices cannot map, so how do I share my external HDD that is plugged into my router, with everyone else on every device the would like to use? I have mapped the external HDD on my laptop, and I can access it easily. What I don't see is a share option on my external HDD. Is there another way to do it? A better way or something? Maybe a third party software, or am I on the right track?
This is why I stay subscribed to you. You're the man Eli!
