I wanted a vintage sewing pattern that I could simply play around with. Queue in Butterick 6015 (The Walkaway Dress). Mainly, I wanted to see if one fabric will help bring out little bits of color in another fabric. In this case, will an all blue fabric help bring out the little bits of blue in this mostly neutral landscape? The vintage reproduction pattern I used still ended up being too large for me. My intention in the end was to simply set it aside until I gained the skills to tailor such an unusual pattern to my figure. But a loved one took one look at it and claimed it as made perfectly for her. So, I’m very happy with the outcome of this project!

The bias tape application was so satisfying. I like how you changed the color to coordinate with the fabrics ❤
Thank you so much! 🥰❤️
Your content is amazing. Please keep making videos. 🙏🏾
I’m so happy you’re enjoying ~ thank you so much! 🥹❤️
A really beautiful interpretation of this particular pattern. At the beginning as you were laying out the fabrics, I wondered whether the bias tape would be dark brown, to coordinate with the horse fabric, or a blue shade to match the plain fabric. I admit I was pleasantly surprised to see you chose both, a brilliant idea, my dear!
And playing with the hemline, also a fab idea.
After seeing 3 or 4 or so other videos by people who had entered the Walkaway Dress Challenge, I bought the pattern for myself. I already have several vintage patterns, (reproductions, since I I haven't got originals....sadly) but have not yet made any of them. If and when I ever stop sewing for other people first, I'm hoping to get at least one dress done....one day.
Thank you so much!! I truly hope you get a chance to sew for yourself soon. It’s really fun being able to play with two different colors and bias tapes. I feel that you’ll really enjoy being creative for yourself with this pattern!
This was such a soothing video ❤ I'm really glad you did this project, its how I found your channel (learned about the Walkaway dress from The Stitchery) - Thanks so much for sharing 🌻 Sending love from Australia 🌈
Yay! I’m so happy you found this channel! Welcome & love from the states ❤️💕 🪽
The quietness of this is so restful. So nice to have a video on this pattern so calm and unchaotic!
Glad you enjoyed it. Thank you! 🥰❤️
love your sense of humour: "woah there" LOL 😍 Your western style walkaway is cute and original
lol thank you so much! 🥰🐎💕
To be able to make an iron snort like a horse is amazingly creative. I’m still smiling.
@@deborahvogelgesang9160 lol thank you 🥰
I thought I recognized those sleeves! I just watched that video a few days ago! Love your content. Keep it coming!
Thank you so much! Will do! 🥰❤️
Lovely work. Well done. I like how you used the basting thread to mark the centre lines - that should come in really handy for any work you want to do on the pattern. I keep meaning to do that in my mock-ups, but keep forgetting the step...

Yes, that center basting truly feels like a new superpower. There’s a lot going on in my next project and it is really keeping me together haha. Thank you so much for being here! 🥰❤️
I LOVE IT.
I LL MAKE ONE FOR ME.
Yay! I hope you have fun creating!
You are very creative, that is the first time I have ever seen the bias tape done that way and I really like it. The horse patterned fabric was different but I like it. Your nails are very pretty. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you so much! 🥰❤️
So lovely and soothing and such a pretty dress 🧵✨✨🪡
I’m glad you’re enjoying. Thank you so much! 🥰
Hello I love your version of the walk away dress, I never thought of changing up the hemline to give it a bit of a modern vibe. Your loved one got a really unique piece for their wardrobe. I keep going back and forth on whether I want to make the 50s version or one of the later releases from like to 60s or 70s of said walk away dress. But this was super cute and I loved how you matched the bias tape to the fabric. Never thought to iron it into a curve before sewing it down myself gonna have to try it.
I sadly can’t recall who’s video it was about this pattern I saw it in but something mentioned that going by the bust measurement makes the dress not fit right what you need to do is measure above the bust along your collar bones and supposedly match that to the bust measurement on the pattern and then it should fit. I haven’t tried it myself yet with this pattern so I don’t know how accurate this advice is but I believe the person made the dress up following it and it worked out great for them. Might be worth a try!
Thank you so much! I’ve seen the 60s and 70s patterns and they look super fun to make. I really appreciate your tips!

No worries at all! Feel free to ask any questions :) It’s a tracing wheel for transferring the pattern markings so I will see where to see the darts. It’s from Dritz ❤️

Hi, I'm not sure if you're aware, or if this is preference. Butterick just reproduced that pattern!
Hi there! Yes, I may try this again with the reproduction next time. Thank you for sharing. ☺️
I love how the back of your walkaway dress 👗 is longer in the back. This dress 👗 would go well with your angel 😇 wing dress 👗 rather nicely 😊.
Thank you so much! ☺️🪽
