Drishyam 2 despite being a remake of 2021 Malayalam Drishyam 2 worked only because it was a sequel and hindi audience in north were more connected to the family of Vijay Salgaonkar and all story around 2 October & memes around it. In 2015, when remake of 2013 Drishyam was released, people were unaware Devgn's drishyam being a remake of Malayalam movie. (Although Drishyam is my all time favourite film I've watched, drishyam 2 was so disappointing that i started feeling left out when everyone was praising the sequel. Somehow, the sequel couldn't matched the level of orginal film and everything was in favour of Vijay rather thrilling unpredictable approach of story in part 1.)
Another reason was Drishyam 2 was not available officially in hindi dub till sequel remake released, which was not the case with other remakes in Bollywood. Vikram vedha, Jersey, etc were available in hindi for years and everyone had watched them before remakes were even announced.

It was extremely tactful of the makers to retain every character, apart from the obvious stars, like Gaitonde and the chai shop owner. Malayalam drishyam 2 not available in hindi is a major factor yes, but I remember my excitement was off the charts for Drishyam 2, even though I had seen the malayalam... because they were not the Salgaonkars and Meera Deshmukh I was attached to.

Because it’s always the same trope of being an underdog, overcoming against all odds and then being victorious. They do work, however it’s just tiring that less and less fictional movies are coming out lately. 12th fail was great along with Srikant, Sam Bahadur and the list just goes on. As we say in America the guy Prabhas talk the talk and walk the walk , he delivers. ❤❤❤

    1. Due to pandemic & rise of OTT platforms, people have become accustomed in exploring good and original content beyond their comfort zone and known language.
    2. Subtitles are happily accepted now.
    3. Quality of dubbing has tremendously improved.
Because of the above three points it makes zero sense to watch these remakes even though they are good, than watching the original.
Hence, only those remakes can survive that can strike a balance between being faithful to the original material and introducing enough original content that is actually good.

I think the biggest shock was finding out most of my favorite Bollywood movies were South Indian movie remakes. I absolutely loved Saathiya with Rani and I then found out it was a remake of Saaki and ended up watching it. Despite it being an older movie, I preferred Saaki over Saathiya because the South Indian Film Industry adds such a realness to these movies that Bollywood cannot. I also absolutely love Soorarai Pottrai and Jigarthanda and the last thing I want to see is Akshay fumbling the bag as he always does. I’d rather just rewatch the originals than the remakes

Akshay Kumar is really not learning his lesson from choosing the right script of movies. His roles are over saturated when I am talking about him in a utilized villain character like Amrish Puri and supporting roles like Anil Kapoor. He is also humorous in comedy, which he can continue doing. He should do not more than 1 film every year to get into real character. That’s how big money will come into hand for Akshay.
