    Fantastic! Hello from IL. This is the second video I've watched. I started with your beginner race walking video. Your explanations are so thorough and incredibly easy to understand. Thank you! I do have a question. Is race walking ok long-term or is power walking better for your joints, injuries, etc. I'm training for a 1/2 marathon in October and currently power walk now. Is the race walking sustainable for longevity or should it only be used when you want to incorporate bouts of speed into your race?

    Thanks for this video. What would a typical week's training look like? How many days of long distance? How many intervals? Speed?

    • @ReshodWalkingShoes
      @ReshodWalkingShoes  2 года назад

      My pleasure. Typically, athletes do two speed workouts per week, (one containing short, fast speed and one of longer threshold workouts). A typical weekly training diets also contains one long walk. The remaining days are active recovery (easy) walks, which can include a hike, or a complete day off from training.

    Amazing ! Questions- if you are a beginner are you able to watch a video and critique the technique? Is this better for the body, joints hips than running ?

    • @ReshodWalkingShoes
      @ReshodWalkingShoes  2 года назад

      Yes, racewalking is a lower impact sport than running. I do offer technique critique coaching services. You can order that at reshod.com/product/monthly-online-coaching/. Pick the Technique Critique in the drop-down menu.

    • @king_has_no_clothskul8635

      RACE WALKING TECHNIQUE IS THE BEST INVENTION IN ATHLETICS. I RATE IT HIGHER THAN HIGH JUMP TECHNIQUE.
      FOR EXAMPLE: THEY ARE ABLE TO RACE WALK A KM IN 4 MINUTES. WHICH IS OUTRIGHT RIDICULOUS. BARRING TOP 5% OF ATHLETES NOBODY CAN EVEN RUN THAT FAST. NOT TO MENTION THEY ARE ABLE TO RACE WALK 15 KM PER HOUR!
      THERE IS NO OTHER TECHNIQUE THAN THIS. MEANING THERE IS NO OTHER WALKING STYLE TO MOVE FASTER: READ IN WIKI: POWER WALK IS 40% SLOWER!
      AND RUNNING IS NOT WALKING. HERE YOU WONT LIFT THE FOOT OR JUMP WHICH TIRES YOU OUT. HERE YOU USE COMPLETE FOOT: LANDING ON HEEL AND ROLLING ALL THE OVER AND KICKING THE BACK LEG BEFORE YOU LAND THE FRONT! AND ALL MORE MUSCLES ARE USED: BUMS, GLUTES, QUADS AND UPRIGHT POSTURE AND MASSIVE SWING OF ARMS.
      IN RUNNING YOU DRIVE AND LAND AFTER JUMP AND HALF OF THE FOOT NOT USED. HERE YOU HAVE TO ROLL OVER AND THAT MAKES IT SMOOTH AND FAST.
      IT IS SIMPLY INCREDIBLE TO SAY THE LEAST.
      SO PRACTICE THE TECHNIQUE FIRST AND THAN YOU CAN BUILD ON IT.
      SHE IS TEACHING EXCELLENTLY.

    I am 89 and searching for the most efficient way of walking. Bent knees or straight? Pushing or pulling? Your opinion is very appreciated!

    • @ReshodWalkingShoes
      @ReshodWalkingShoes  Год назад +1

      Great questions. I believe that pushing your leg behind you is most efficient because reaching your leg on front of your torso to pull yourself forward creates a brief pause in your stride. I encourage walkers to strike the ground beneath your torso as much as possible. This creates a smoother gait. Check out my RW101 video for more details and drills to practice this.

    • @ReshodWalkingShoes
      @ReshodWalkingShoes  Год назад +1

      The bent knee vs. straight knee preference varies per individual. While the racewalk gait allows you to walk faster overall, some are quicker with a bent knee stride. Go with the style that is more natural for your posture and flexibility.
