Great video! Short and sweet, good advice! I have a query though... net kills?? Forehand especially . I find these quite tricky when opponents play good, close, defensive blocks to the net... Forehand grip? Bevel? Pan handle?
Using a left-handed trainer is a bit confusing to me to apply. I had to slowed the playback speed to 0.5x to understand this video and yet still not clear 100% :( Yet I grew up in an Asian country which so many times won badminton's world cup & I played badminton since i was little. Perhaps I have to watch this video about 5-6x to completely understand the video. Overall, I like the ways how they explain things.
I have seen MANY grip tutorial videos and this is BY FAR the best one. Your instructions are clear, concise, and I love the video editing (brilliant idea with the frying pan!) Thank you!
I've been playing badminton for 2 years, and I always remember my tutor telling me that last time, that the racquet does not "spin" during your play, the only correct grip is the forehand grip. This is what happen to me, that forcing myself to stay on forehand grip no matter how the shuttle coming, causing me really hard to return the shuttle sometime, because all I remember is, only forehand grip is the correct grip. After this video, now only I acknowledged that, you guys did "spin" the racquet on your hand while playing depends on the direction of the shuttle, thats really answered my mystery of the century.
I don't know why I have been playing badminton without learning about the grip types for the past few months. Thanks to this clear video, I immediately went from weak/painful shots to generating lots of power just by using the right grip.
this is the most accurate and honest grip video I have ever found on internet,,, you guys are really good at teaching.... my dad always says that the best way to learn something is to have a reference frame,,, which is the pan for us
This was so important of a video and you elaborated the grips flawlessly and displayed each grip in action. Really helpful. I mean its the first thing you need to know when starting playing badminton.
Thanks guys! I've come to badminton late in life, but really love it!! I've spent the last couple of years trying to undo all the bad habits that I'd self-developed over the previous three. Grips was what I started with and, as you say, with perseverance using the right grip becomes natural quite quickly. What I still find I have to be conscious of though is keeping my grip relaxed until the point of hitting the shuttle - my default is still to be "tense" and "tight" - getting there though 🙂 thanks again for all your helpful tips 👍
Thanks for the great comment Tom, and we completely agree! Keeping the grip relaxed is something that all badminton players have to continually remind themselves, unless you are Kevin Sukamuljo ;)
I was watching this video like ''Okay, he's doing it like that, so i have to rotate it in my mind like... wait... i don't! He's a leftie!! Yayyy!!! 🙌'' 😂
Thank you, this was so helpful!!! I'm a beginner and I only knew forehand and backhand grip. Instead of using bevel and panhandle to get the racket at an angle, I rotated my wrist... Now I know why those shots always felt awkward and weak 🙈
Just learned ive been placing my thumb below the racquet on the forehead grip for over a year now... Correcting this gave me so much power control and consistency, thank you guys❤
This is great for when I haven’t played badminton in a long time, it helps me refresh. Plus, I love how a backhand grip is like your holding a pan but panhandle grip is just alone😂
Fan of your channel, you guys have explained it so well with a crystal clear illustration, use case and summaries. I see this in every video of yours, I can learn so much just by checking out your videos. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge with everyone so generously.
this video is insanely done, excellent showcase of each grip with different POVs, example videos and a cool pan to racket transition. Thank you so much for this!!
I like all of your video which helped me for improving my shots and techniques . I also like that you teach with both left and right hand to understand easly
yeah I'm a decent tennis player but I'm starting badminton for school season this year. though tennis let me hit the shuttle without much struggle it does make my shots very weird because I keep using a tennis swing and grips
Used to play badminton at a pretty high standard as a kid but 30 years later have just started playing again with some mates and literally forgotten everything. Need your vids to get me back into it
Wait, I've been using the panhold grip this whole time?? Omg, I tried the proper way to grip for forehand and it feels so weird 😭😭 this is gonna take a while to get used to, but its good that I learnt the proper way now, thank you!!
Your guys come up with lovely educational videos. I show your videos to my son and many others who are eager to learn badminton the right way. Thank you. PS: Pl participate in All England Again You guys were great!:)
Another great video! And this time you have earned my subscription! ha ha ha........ Please show us how to change the grip on right moment! I always fail to do it! Thanks for the good work you are doing.
Haha, thanks for subscribing 👊🏼 To quickly change grips you need to have a loose grip (not holding the racket too tight), otherwise you won't be able to change quick enough!
I’ve been literally using the wrong grip my whole life and I still beat everyone in my class :,D This also explains why my defense is so good but my smashes are really weak
So at 1:58, you talk about getting into the bevel grip from a backhand grip, you turn the face clockwise with your thumb on the bevel, but clockwise is only for left-handed people, whereas right handed people turn the face anti-clockwise. The explanation got me confused, but the demonstration at 3:12 shows changing the grip with a right hand, so I was able to understand it from there.
Make sure you send this video to any friends who are always using the wrong grip 😆
Haha yes, then this video will probably get over 10 billion views 😂
Then, i should send this video to my self 😂

Fun fact: when I do drops, I change my grip and hold my racket handle lower. I love you videos and I'll try and use the court drop technique today:)😁
I do that when the shuttle is too far away from me so that it hits the sweet spot.
