The tip on the hose garage is amazing, thank you! You've got me thinking about getting the CT15 instead of mini\midi. I don't care about adding bluetooth later, but the hose and potential to add a systainer on top makes this a real good option.

You may have single-handedly swayed me to buy the CT 15 over any of the makita options or otherwise that I've been looking at prior. This really does look like the most versatile and refined option for the price point. The 3 year warranty and documented brand trust this product has is also a plus! I really do like the optional handle, but at $100 that's a bit steep IMO, $50 sounds more reasonable to me. Anyways, thanks for the info!

The anti-static hose to add on prevents dust from sticking to it because of static electricity not just shock, in addition to not catching on the edges of tables and tarcks.

I’ve been in the market for a decent dust extractor for some time but as a hobbyist couldn’t justify the prices for the midi. A joiner pal of mine has the midi and I’ve used that quite a bit recently and it’s great. I stumbled on the CT15 and had to get it. Managed to get it for a great price at only £230 English pounds thanks for the great comparison and review. This to me alone has justified my purchase. Thanks again.

@@paula.the.wannabe.hauler unfortunately that was in 2021 but they never completed the order blaming festool for lack of stock. Thanks for the info on the Festool Vacs. On the Anti-static hoses. it's not so much about getting shocked by the hose, but rather all the saw dust sticking to the hose making for harder cleanup. Just my experience. Have my CT15 showing up today. Have an older CT26 and Midi. May look at getting the hose garage upgrade, thanks for that info.

Thanks great video! One minor point for people looking at the CT-15, the power cord wrap shown on the back is not included. It does come on the MIDI, but there is also one included with push handle, vac acc storage unit.
I was the textbook CT-15 customer, new to Festool only owning the Domino. A bit later I got a Festool sander and the CT-15 was just cheap enough to work.
I love it, but at the same time I am considering moving up to the MIDI. On location I find myself wishing I had every upgrade the Midi offers. The garage would be so helpful to keep the hose safely stored when not needed, and the systainer dock would be great for bringing tools into a location and working from during the day. The brake would keep it from rolling on uneven surfaces. And the anti static hose is much nicer.
That said the CT is still great. I did buy an anti static hose that lives in my shop mounted to a diy boom arm, and the basic hose stays in the van.
Great tip on the hose garage fitting the CT.

I was looking for a tool box when I can across the old version of this dust extractor. I have a garage shop that I only have half of it to use at this point so room is a big issue. I made a DYI cyclone with a shop vac and it worked but what a pain. Hard to empty, heavy and way too big. When I came across the old version of this for 100$ I jumped on it. I added a cyclone that sits on top and I can't believe how well it works. I was ready to spend 1100 to 1500 on a dust collecting system but this works so well I'm staying with this set up. If you are considering one of these for a small shop consider this. All of their collectors basically have the same CFM, It's so close it doesn't matter. Add a cyclone and not only will you increase the efficiency, you will eliminate the need to replace the expensive bags and the expensive filter. Pick the least expensive and add a cyclone to the top. You can thank me later.

You know, that's the thing about Festool prices. They seem crazy high (and they are!), but when you look at the other premium tools and brands, not the sort of stuff you find at Home Depot, it turns out that Festool's prices aren't actually so far out of line.

I hooked up a small shop vac to see if it would help control the dust and it did. Great, informative video. My small concern regarding this platform (and I admittedly know nothing about festool vacs) is that the auto feature is limited to tools with max 1600w ? Is that right? Some (not many) of my tools have higher wattage, mostly the ones creating most dust.

I have the CT MIDI and Bluetooth remote, the BT is great and lets me vacuum between jobs, etc. without going to the MIDI on the opposite side of my bench. Good review and I am in the market for a second CT and would like to save a little and get the CT15E but honestly for a little more will likely get a second MIDI. By the time you add hose garage, etc. and all and the fact that a BT battery would never work with the CT15.

I bought this model at Woodcraft for $419. In retrospect, I should have bought a higher level one for this reason: it did not have the non-static hose, did not include the attachment to wrap the power cord, and the top you cannot roll up the hose and store it (there is a bungee cord instead. On the other hand, it is high quality. I bought the upgraded hose for about $150. I need to buy the cord attachment and the hose garage. If I bought the larger one that is more expensive, then I would have gotten all I wanted for a total price less than what I will put out.
My conclusion is it is a great dust extractor. I bought it for my sander.

Talking about comparable vacuums and prices, the Fein Turbo I is comparable in size, has auto start and is a little cheaper. I like both companies. I own the Festool for my home shop, and we use the Feins at our working shop. Both are very quiet and well made. Both benefit from using bags! Use those bags, folks! In Australia Festool are trying to present this as a cleanup vac not Tool dust extraction, and pushing people to go to the CT15M MIdi at AU$300 more.
In Australia there is no "L" class so the CT15 comes with HEPA Filter and is therefore as good as the M class except it does not have auto off sensor or the nicer hose and on top hose storage.
The CT15 now comes with a black anti-static hose too.

This is a good comparison video. I run a few Festool vacs in the field a couple 26's and a 36ac for the drywall sander. One of the 26's is almost 10yrs old and I was waiting for it to die before buying a new one and had already decided on a slightly smaller vac for ease of transport and mobility on site. I was considering the 15 or the Midi as I already knew most of the parts were interchangeable. Ultimately I went with the Midi because many of the missing features were ones I wanted and by the time you do the upgrades to a 15 the costs are similar without the bluetooth. For me the hose, hose garage, wheel lock, and cord wrap are features I feel are worth it.

Older comment I know but I ordered a Festool hose and was sure I was ordering the new braided style and received the silver non antistatic. This was at the beginning of 2021 and everything was back ordered so I just kept it. I have it on a CT 26 and while it is not antistatic it seems to be of good quality like my other older ribbed Festool hoses. I will add that antistatic isn't just for the user though. It is also so sawdust doesn't accumulate on the hose itself and create a fire hazard.

Mine didn't either. But the optional handle thing that i bought did include the extension cord holder as a separate sub-piece. I guess without it you're supposed to coil the cord inside the garage (i think i've seen Festool pictures showing that).
Where this guy got his CT15 cord wrap handle from, was presumably he took the cord wrap handle off his new CT Midi there and put it on the CT15, since the optional handle he bought for the Midi had replaced it.

All M class dust extractors are very expensive. A $100 vac doesn't have anywhere near the same filtration. Clean air on a building site is expensive.

Dont buy a new Fein vacuum. I learned the hard way and it was a piece of junk, lost suction, turned on randomly by itself, filter clogged...and the bags are $130 for 3 plastic trash bags. Turbo 2 XAC is the worst tool i ever owned. Bought a Festool and its smooth as butter!!!

Will this still be suitable for a dust extractor from a sander? I e heard horror stories of festool denying warranty service for vacs connected to a dust deputy, citing that static buildup fried the electronics. Wondering if constant dust through the non anti static hose would cause the same.

Good question. Very vague if using a suction hose with any tool on any surface will cause issues with static shock or as you say issues with tool

They are super quite. I have 2 ct 26 and a sysvac.. when I break out the shop vac for slop work it is a good reminder of how good I've got it

Don’t call it a vac. It’s a dust extractor. 😂 Awesome little beast. I own the Midi. You can actually add Bluetooth to older Midi. I did it to my vac. You must have meant Mini?

@@toolcurve Ok so maybe I’m wrong. Just know that I was able to add it my midi because it has the port. What country are you in? I know they have variety in these depending on your country, region.

@@toolcurve I live in the US too. Just bought mines a little over two years or less now I believe. I find that strange.

That’s not an anti static hose, can’t use it with power tools. When you’ll start buying extras that’s not anymore the best option.

If Festool was smart they would cut the price in half and then everyone would be buying them. But they are greedy. Plastic and a few electronic parts is not that expensive.
