    It's an improvement over their older machines, which is definitely a good sign. I'm glad to see them using arcade roms and getting creative with the machine layouts like this. Definitely looking forward to what they do next, and I hope they get better from here!

    • @GenXGrownUp
      @GenXGrownUp  3 года назад

      I couldn't agree more. Space Invaders might be a bit of a unicorn in that it already had that projected moonscape to simulate. But in general, creative layout that complements the game, a real ROM, and upgraded controls -- that's all positive stuff that I hope continues moving forward.

    I finally hit that subscribe button! (Pac Man noise) Really enjoy your reviews! I was already probably getting the My Arcade Space Invaders unit based on other impressions but this review really sealed the deal. I couldn’t agree more that hopefully this bodes well for the overall future of the table top arcade unit market leaning more towards having arcade roms (there’s no excuse at this point for most older titles) and better build quality. I also own the My Arcade Dig Dug, Mappy and Bubble Bobble units which are great for what they are, but man, I’d gladly have shelled out more cash if those had the arcade roms (I’m actually going to be pre-ordering the Bubble Bobble arcade rom powered unit from Numskull, that’s one all-time favorite title I just need the arcade gameplay on and have dreamed of having an authentic Bubble Bobble arcade cabinet at home for a long time). I’m also definitely keeping an out on the other Premium line My Arcade units such as Contra which looks to be using the arcade rom *and* a vertical screen. Maybe you can review that one when it’s out? Anyways, keep up the good work! Really enjoy your reviews, positivity and attention to detail.

    I have this version, and it does have the thump sound, it's just very low. In a very quiet room, you can hear it. The thing for me is that the screen is too deep inside the cabinet for my taste, but all-in-all, it IS Space Invaders.

    • @GenXGrownUp

    GenXGrownup,
    I confirmed with a My Arcade customer service rep that Space Invaders uses a VERY SLIGHTLY TWEAKED original ROM and the next unit out is Street Fighter II which is the arcade rom with some changes. It was pushed out in release because Capcom didn't want the "Lexus" logo on the challenging stage.

The only issue is the internal space for the speaker (and perhaps a diffuser if need be) as the angle of the mirror and screen might leave the remaining internal space a bit unsymetirical for a good enough sized speaker… while although there should be a good amount of space in the unit…there just might not be enough in one area (if you know what I mean) to fit the speaker and bigger the speaker (or the larger the diffuser), generally the more powerful the bass (but we are still talking fairly small speaker/diffuser in the grand scheme of things)
