  • Imagine a world where Bayonne, Nantes, and Rennes are 20 meters underwater. A world where Denmark is nothing more than an isolated island. A world with a sea between Algeria and Tunisia… and another even bigger sea to the north of Brazil. This week, Lucas imagines the concrete consequences of a complete disappearance of the ice, and what we would risk...

If all ice melted, not all of this water would rise the oceans. A good portion of this water would float in the air as clouds and cool the surface by shadowing and energy absorption.
All the glaciers combined from the alps, the rocky mountains, the andes, himalaya, kilimanjaro, sibiria and patagonia and whatever their name may be are less than 4% of all glaciers. Glaciers 'R' pole caps.

Interesting. Could you share links to the data you cite, please? On a quick napkin calc, the ice/snow areas are maybe 1/100th (probably much less) of the ocean areas. Just 100 x 216' means every bit of the ice/snow areas would need to be an average of 21,600' thick (4 miles!!!), except that ice/snow melts to less than the equal height of water because of entrapped air. If the percentage of coverage is lower, the ice/snow areas need to be MUCH deeper. And, as you state, the ice already in the water will not make a difference. That just does not seem valid to me.
The climate change issue concerns me also, but people lose all credibility when datas are not presented accurately. Lose credibility, and your channel dies. I'd like to look into verifying these things. Perhaps some data points were false or inaccurate. The 216 feet seems very high. Perhaps you could follow up with more data along this line for the sake of credibility.

    Oh good grief
Fear fear fear … you should sell this “make believe story” to Hollywood and call it “Noah II”. Seriously, find some true news!!
