Hamill was going into the snow no matter what. The point of the camera crew being in the hotel lobby was because it was so cold that camera would freeze up and not function properly.
Speaking of that last one, George Lucas went threw extreme lengths to make sure it never leaked the twist in Empire Strikes Back. Everyone had a script say that, 'Obi-Won killed your father'' and that what the man in the Darth Vader costume (David OProwse) on set said. Only 4 people knew that Darth Vader was Luke's father. Lucas himself, his director, James Earl Jone (he's the voice of Vader and had to say the line), and Mark Hamhil. In an interview, Mark said that he was warned that if this information leaked out, "we'll know that it was you."
They dubbed James' voice in post so I don't think he was there on set at the time it was acted. And the reason they went to these lengths is David was infamous for leaks.
I've always wondered since I was a kid how the Wompa stuck Luke's feet to the cave ceiling. Like, what'd he do - hold him in place and use a water gun to spray his feet until it froze?
Hamill goes through hell, McGregor and Christiansen are insane, Jabba can take 7 dudes at once, beaten by woman who gets wrong script. Can't make this stuff up xD
For the record, it was Academy Award Winning Make Up Artist Stewart Freeborn who brought Jabba to life. Phil Tippet designed the look, but the sculpture and operation was ALL Mr. Freeborn’s. Please, get your research correct.
I've always wanted to see a CGI Jabba the Hutt that's faithfully made to look as similar to the ROTJ rendition as possible. I think that when it comes to CGI and puppetry, it shouldn't be "either or". It should be a decent combination of both. The Yoda is Episode 8 should have also looked more like the original puppet.
What I would like to see is a top 10 scenes in Star Wars that are more impressive if you know the lore. Example: The Hutts are a species that are so tough and robust, that they have managed to outlive their home world's parent star, making Leia's killing of Jabba that much more impressive. Things like that.
And the thing about Andor smiling is I can totally headcanon that he got that K-2SO did it as a cover, and is trying to cover it in-character so the Stormtroopers don't catch on.
#10 Ummm, is it wrong that I didn't really think they sped anything up to begin with?? Guess that one won't be any more impressive for me going forward lol. #3 is funny and kind of sweet. Imagine having that kind of memory for a connection with a legendary actress in her most famous role?
Nah. Star Wars has gone the way of Star Trek where you can kill any character off as much as you like and they'll just come back. Darth Maul, for example, was cut in half and dropped down a huge shaft only to return in Clone Wars.
I mean, they revived the most dead character in the series, so everything is possible in that universe. You know, Palpatine fell down a seemingly bottomless, exploding dropchute inside a space station that shortly thereafter exploded entirely. I can't think of a better way to make sure someone is actually dead, yet "SoMeHoW PaLpAtInE rEtUrNeD...
One (of the many) reasons I hated the SE versions of TOS is the inclusion of the CGI Jabba in ANH. In the real versions of the trilogy we first see Jabba in ROTJ, it's a cool reveal. Seeing him in ANH ruins that.
It was wrong on more levels. You mentioned the "reveal". I was more upset about Jabba, the big mob boss, made a personal visit to some random parking spot instead of being busy with other stuff.
It was indulgent. The original trilogy was made through Lucas's genius, but it was made in part by a committee of expert filmmakers, tweaking his ideas to be better in the final product. When he started doing the SE versions, some of the improvements were good, I'll admit. Cloud City was a major improvement. The enhanced special effects of the space battles were great. But that Jaba scene was an indication he had gotten a little bit high on fame and forgot all the people that helped him make his vision that much better. Then came the prequel trilogy. Less said about The Phantom Menace, the better.
Why would Rosario Dawson actually believe she’d be talking to Plo Koon of all people? He pretty famously died in Order 66, so it’s a bit suspicious to be in a scene with her. I get sometimes there are flashback scenes but since the dialogue involved Grogu it’s a bit weird.
