Hey Gyasi, On my last year of high-school and next year I'm taking a learnership to Kickstart my cyber security journey. You videos have really helped guide me and just wanted to say I am really thankful.
I agree with the work-life balance. Out of college I worked at numerous startups where it was just constant work or learning outside of work for work. As I've progressed in my career I've pivoted to value more important things like sleep, socializing, and sometimes doing nothing at all. We don't have to be productive machines 24/7. Our greatest breakthroughs or solutions to problems can come from just laying on the couch on a Sunday evening.
Great video! I completely agree with that balancing a social life is just as important as the grind. If you don't you will definitely burn out and hate something you really could've enjoyed and been great at!
Gyasi my man you and other creators inspired me to start my own path in becoming a software engineer, even though I got no experience at all in this sector. Thanks man, following my dreams is now possible, since I realized that even as someone with no degree, I got a chance at becoming one :) So far 9 days in with Python, taking baby steps to mature more and see what I can become in 6 six months! (I challenged myself into looking for a job in 6 months, little bit extreme, but I want to take the opportunity of the free time I have and to compensate the school time I'm not doing, and I'm feeling like I'm studying harder than ever)
Not all Bootcamp are created equal. I think it’s a good idea to connect with graduates or current students of a bootcamp you’re planning to attend to see how it is. You teachers should definitely be helping you. You will have to do some problem solving and finding resources on your own but they should also be able to assist you when you’ve exhausted those resources. That’s the benefit of attending a bootcamp. If they can’t uphold that part of the bargain, Ima need them to run me my check. Congrats to your wife!
Sir, there are other roles in IT like Networking, Information Systems and cybersecurity which are just as hard as a CS degree. CS isn't the only in demand degree
Weekly for sure. Doing 7-10 hours a day will lead to burn out and loss of passion for the field. So do roughly 1-2 hours a day and take breaks to refresh yourself so you can learn better.
I do 7-10 hours a day, and I honestly don't find it a big issue. I have plenty of time to spend alone, but remember to get out and a take a walk. It's the best thing to do when feeling overwhelmed by problems you can't solve and it helps clearing out the mind :)
My 2 year college added a (4year) BAS degree in Software Development not to long ago. Do u think it’s better to pursue that degree or Computer Science at a University
I disagree regarding IT degree V CS degree, im a magician at maths so a Cs degree may have been perfect for me, but I've decided to go with an IT and Networking degree, its a fast track 2 year degree so saving 2 years by avoiding Cs and the Networking part should get me into alot of doors in cloud work etc moving forward, and as you said, its a watered down version of CS so ill take that, a degree is a degree it'll look sexy on my CV 🤣 (resume to American folk) and employers will think the Networking part is sexy too 😎 good vid anyway 👊🏾
Hey so I’m actually going to Purdue university currently and I’m going for a bachelors in information technology and I noticed that in your video you didn’t really mention whether or not I would still be able to get the same internships and job offers as someone who is going for a bachelors in computer science, or should I look Into changing school to someone who offers cs degree.
I wouldn’t worry too much. If you can show that you are proficient in programming or any other skills being asked, you will get the internship. Also make sure to have a portfolio of different projects you have done.
@@terrasai2857 Thank u so much, to add on to my question, I was wondering do I really need a college degree to do well in their field or is something that helps in the Search for Interships
The branded youtube we want. I have no idea what tech is i dont even know where my voicemail is. But like there is this thing of like in a lot of ways yeah we need to learn coding but like r we need to code our way into the new society. And i know its more complicated than that. But as i see if industrailists say is going to be a screen alright like if this new system who is it for. Im like not even getting into geopoliticswhich it should. But where r these conversations. Also as ive seen on youtube its super specific but like i really dont expect a youtuber to do war, climate change, inequality and i dont expect them to. So like where r these people who went to higher ed who do have resources that the public just doesnt have access to and like can make research organizations. Yeah news room are problematic but i dont expect kyle to report the news. Linsey davis and david muir and metereologists r really good. Also like reading books im not an expert but chris miller, jake bittle, mr. Dorothy roberts, dr. Jasmine brown, heather mcghee. And like it is difficult to read literature but they think about society and they can b alive. Zadie smith, jacquline woodson are really amazing.
Taking Calc I at the moment so I know how you feel, but don't give up. Do your part as a student, put in the time, actually engage in the concepts, and reach out when you need help.
Lol, He the one who posted "5 reasons why you shouldn't be a software engineer" but now he posted "why you should become a software engineer". What he thinking of us ? Do he think us as idiots ?

Hey Gyasi for the time that we invest in coding did you mean 7-10 hrs weekly.

I was just about to comment on that, studying anything 7 - 10 hours a day is crazy so I am sure he meant per week.
Always a good day wen gyasi uploads
your videos are always so good :)
Great tips man 👍🏿

Heyy I wanted to ask if it's possible to be a software engineer with an electrical engineering degree?
Yes
did you say 7-10 hours a day? did you mean per week?
I felt that tea break 😂
Did he mean 7 to 10 hours a week?

@@GyasiLinje Huge sigh of relief haha. Great video man!

I was like 7-10 hours ?!? 😂
Do you have a video on LinkedIn profiles for developers with no work experience in the field?
What's a good rule of thumb when refactoring code?
Hi there, What are your thoughts on using/learning bootstrap especially as a someone who is just learning HTML and CSS?

thats even better go for it.
What coding boot camp would you recommend? If you don’t mind me asking, which one did your wife choose ?

@@josephgotfans4080 It's not necessary since you can learn the languages at home, but I would still get a degree. Helps a lot.

I am 28 and I want to starting learning how to code. Where do I start?
Start with HTML, then css , then JavaScript.
Im already struggling with Chem 1 and Calc 1, are my computer science dreams over?
chem 1? nah, not important. But math is the foundation of being able to reason about code and solve problems. So don't give up on math

“Jesus looked at them carefully and said, ‘It’s impossible with human beings, but not with God. All things are possible for God.’” - Mark 10:27
Seems mindnumbingly boring as hell though
