The show started off with Will. I'd appreciate him being the main focus of season 5. A confession to Mike, being able to spy on Vecna, some happiness, and a final showdown with him would be amazing. Let Will be happy. Because he's constantly suffering and yet he still finds time to put everyone else before himself. Every. Single. Time. His speech to Mike about how important he was to "El" and how "El" asked for the painting nearly had me in tears.

My heart broke for Will when Mike told Eleven that his life started the day he met her, which was also the same day Will went missing. That REALLY has to hurt, but luckily Jonathan was able to sense what Will was trying to say.
I think Mike needs a redemption arc, honestly. Ever since Season 3, he's only ever been focussed on his relationship with Eleven and has hardly cared at all about anyone else, especially Will. There was no reason as to why he shouldn't have tried to comfort him when Will was crying in the car
If you re-watch that scene they show Will and the look on his face for is so heart breaking. I think Vecna is going to use this and his feelings for Mike and his past traumas with the upside down against him. I think we may get a Will villain arc but he will be saved by the ‘heart’ … aka Mike will save him.
I can’t stop thinking about how amazing Caleb’s performance was in episode 9. It was so heartbreaking, but such a joy to watch him shine on screen like that.
I do like that Argyle made them a pizza because seriously when tf was the last time they ate fr lol. Like a lot of high impact action shows never show them when they’ve eaten or showered they just be in the same clothes and shit for a week fighting for they lives every step of the way but my boy Argyle did what he knows best and provided El with some much needed fuel for her Vecna battle lmaooo

I think the Duffers have confirmed that the repercussions of Eddie's death will be important next season, so hopefully he'll get proper acknowledgement from the rest of the cast then.
No, I think Eleven gets that distinction, will had a family and friends from the start. Eleven had nothing until she met Mike and Hopper; Dustin (less so) and Lucas thought she was a weird, mentally challenged lunatic and were treating her like an animal one gawkes at in a zoo.

I think Max is trapped somewhere in Vecna. He was saying the people he kills are still ‘in him’ and he absorbs their power or something. So, it would make sense that Max’s consciousness is consumed by Vecna, unclear if it can be retrieved. I think it’s very like the show to go rescue someone from an evil mindscape, too. At this point, the upside down is a known element and not as scary, so Vecna’s mind is like what the upside down was in season 1.
I think she'll be in season 5 in vecna's mind and have a crutial role to help Eleven, since she is the only one he took and yet is alive, but the duffers already said she's brain dead, blind and all bones broken. I don't think she'll come back from this.😔
I agree that the new hellscape is going to be inside of Vecna's mind, and that is where they will go to time travel into the past to destroy the phylactery which contains Vecna's life-force, likely the clock. I think that El will save Max from within Vecna, and Max will have learned the truth about how to kill Vecna for good. I also think it is possible that Vecna will temporarily possess Max's body while she is in a coma (maybe why El can then access to his mind to save Max), and he will heal Max's body and give her a new Eye of Vecna that will enable her to see and use some of his powers, which she will get to keep after El expels Vecna from her body. Just some fun ideas I had.
Fr Lucas’ part was so good, his acting was amazing and I was so happy he finally got his time to show off his amazing acting. Then Eddie- Omgggg that was so freaking sad, I cried sm. The acting in it was impeccable bro. And when Eddie said “I love you man”…. Stop like they made it so sad😭 Okay I’m done, but I agree with you on everything you said, like everything🙌🏻
As much as it hurts to see the town in shambles and Max in a coma, this is the first time I feel in this series that Hawkins crew lost and the stakes are finally there now that the crew gotta avenge Max Seems like after every season finale prior to S4, there wasn't much that didn't affect them. Ppl just moved on, but the sleeping beast finally awoke in the name of Vecna!
exactly! i liked that everything didn't turn out well in the end and that things went south with hawkins being split into 4 cracks. throughout the entire season, things went well in the end (e.g. max survives vecnas first attack, eleven doesn't get shot and runs away, things being timed perfectly, hopper lives despite many odds etc.) and at that point i was already expecting the characters to save hawkins at the very end. glad they went with the less predictable option.
I feel like some things can be scarier/sadder than death, and that’s kinda where Max is at the end of this season. She’s alive, but when El goes in her mind, she’s not there. Best case scenario is they get Max’s mind back from Vecna, but even then it was heavily implied that she’ll be blind and paralyzed, unable to see, feel, or move. Not to mention the emotional trauma of legit being murdered. There’s no real going back for Max.
I think she's unable to see and feel because she's still in the trance like state. like when you get possesed by Vecna you're not seeing from or feeling from your actual body, but rather the body that's within the mind, so I think they just need to get her out of the trance which they can only do by killing Vecna.
i just wish mike had better development. after season 1 he was pretty much useless except for a few moments in season 2, and i thought that was so disappointing because he really drove the story in season 1. when will was hyping up mike with his “you’re the heart of the group” speech it just wasn’t really true anymore, even though it was 100% true in season 1. in season 1, mike held the most belief that will was alive. he was the one that trusted el and brought her into the group. he willingly JUMPED OFF A CLIFF for his friend without a thought. he fought back the most when the lab was taking el away, and was the most upset when she disappeared. to me, that’s what being “the heart” is; it’s being selfless, acting on your emotions, and doing things that you know will help the people you love. mike was a fantastic character in season 1 because while he did all that, he still had his flaws, like his short temper and stubbornness. yet he was still a likeable character. he’s just not like that anymore! and that’s so disappointing to see this wonderful, caring kid become a moody side character that only talks about el. anyways, will’s pep talk just fell flat because it really wasn’t accurate anymore
I totally get what you mean but I think there might be an explanation to that. Remember in season 3 when Will constantly begged Mike and Lucas to play dnd with him? And he also told Dustin that they’re for sure gonna hang out like old times and when Mike asks Will if he thought that they were going to stay kids and play dnd in Mike’s basement forever Will says: “Yeah, I guess I thought so.” On to season 4: The painting Will made is about dnd which highlights a thing from their childhood and when Will confronts Mike about the fact that he hasn’t sent a single letter to him since he’s moved, It’s obvious that Will hasn’t really realized that their friendship isn’t like it used to be. To me it’s clear that Will is strongly holding on to how things were in the past and I mean, you’re right! Mike is absolutely NOT the heart of the group anymore but Will doesn’t realize that. Will doesn’t live in Hawkins anymore and he probably pushes the lack of contact with Mike off to exactly that. They haven’t talked in 8 months so all that remains of Mike to Will are the memories from the past. Will lives in a memory he has of Mike and he just can’t see that things have changed. So since all of this “the heart” Stuff is coming from Will it’s only true to character that he’d still see the Mike from the past in the Mike from the present. I also think that all of this makes it so much MORE obvious that Will is actually talking about his own feelings during the pep talk because from season 2 we know that Will would talk to Mike about things he wouldn’t talk about with the other members of the party, highlighting him to be a special part of the group. The leader. The heart.
He was one of the main reasons Wills mind was kept into this reality enough to where the MF didnt have complete permanent control of him. Mike stayed with him all of his season 2, while the other kids didnt bother. He was the heart then too. At the end of season 2 when he finds out both Will is alive and El is alive, he stepped back as leader in season 3 and began trying to be a normal teenager. He kind of lost himself in his emotions feeling like he couldn't protect anyone. Hes clearly been in a depression especially after El and Will moved. Like he said "hawkins just doesnt feel the same with you anymore". He still is the heart of the group. You can be the heart of the group and fall into a depression where you doubt yourself which is exactly what happened. He just needed motivation and he got it. Mikes speech felt like old Mike peaking through because that was Mike emotional, vulnerable and open which is the Mike that we havent seen lately that has been emotionally closed off to not hurt as much. Mike IS the heart of the group. Will is the soul. Dustin is the brains. Lucas is the rationalization and hands on defense. Theyre definitely setting up Mike to return to leader role but just think of all hes been through between Will and El almost dying the last few years.
It was weird i guess. I like how Will immediately sensed vecna when he came to Hawkins and i HoPE that's a tease of what his role ll' be in season five ( a bigger role hopefully )
Overall the balance kinda tipped with the storyline balancing but they got back on their feet. V tense though not as tightly knit as i wished but yes i liked

Don't hate me, but when they had Steve talking about the family he wanted, I was like "oh yeah he's gonna die" and I kinda... wanted it to happen? Like, I love him, but it sometimes feels like there are no stakes for the main cast. I was bummed they killed Eddie off so quick when I feel like he had major potential.
It also felt like Steve’s arc was at a good ending place. He really changed for the better and was an inspiration to a lot of people… would have been powerful for him to die. I think the show runners know he’s a favorite though
I just wish he'd died this season so the Steve/Nancy/Jonathan love triangle could be put to bed. I don't care whether Nancy and Jonathan stay together or not, but God do I *not care* about Steve and Nancy as a couple anymore. Their romance subplot dragged scenes down this season, and since Steve made it out alive that's only gonna keep happening in season 5 too.
Yeah I LOVE Steve. I LOVE him. But it feels like they only killed Eddie as a placeholder for Steve. Like they don’t have the balls to kill off one of their MAIN mains. But why Eddie?!?!?! God I don’t even care how, just bring him back.
I saw a video by Georgia Dow (Therapist Reacts) where she says that Will is actually the heart of the group because he’s always the one bringing others up when they’re in their lowest places. It’s Will’s heart on Mike’s shield that is protecting him and the others.
Eddie gave the best concert and the best scene this season and the writers disposed of him so easily and killed him despite people still thinking he's a murderer and a cult leader. Honestly, justice for Eddie.
I feel like because the focus at the start of the whole story was on Will's disappearance, the end is going to explain it a bit more. Now we know about Vecna and his link to the Mind Flayer/The Upside Down in general, I really hope they explore Vecna's connection to Will. Why did he abduct and possess him first and not anyone else in Hawkins? It hinted at their similarities as children a little but I would like for Will to come back as a main character again and for those kind of questions to be answered.
The scene with Will and Mike. I’m crying omg. Also I found another clue that Will might be gay (everyone knows he is tho) but I’m still gonna share it. Will’s project for school when they made a presentation of their hero was about Alan Turing. He made the first computer and he was openly gay. It’s probably a sign that Will wants to come out, and I also hope he does in season 5. Let Will be happy for once PLEASE
I'd say they're definitely building to that. I can't see him telling many people (it's the 80s), and probably not Mike because as a straight guy he might be weirded out that Will's crushing on him, but he's definitely gonna tell Jonathan (and maybe Joyce). Even if Jonathan already knows, Will finally feeling ready to tell anyone is a major step for him, and I just know they'll nail the scene like they nailed Robin's.
@@robbiesmith8055 Jonathan def knows, the scene between him and Will was a coded coming out scene. Will hasn’t said the words yet, but Jonathan is clearly reassuring Will. He knows. And he DEFINITELY knows Will is in love with Mike. The looks he kept giving them. And the way that right after the Jonathan/Will scene it cuts to him aggressively bursting back into the restaurant through the swinging doors and looking angrily at Mike.
Wasn't there a Scene in S3 or something were will was angry at the group for only prioritising there girlfriends and Mike saying "It's not my fault you don't like girls" and apologiesing a second later. I kinda took that as him knowing Will is gay, but due it being the 80s with all the sigma not really talking about it. And Mike apologies for bringing up the open secret they didn't take about jet and using it against him.

Yk one major criticism I have is in some aspects they didn’t fully capitalize on the long episodes like I feel like Eddie and max would’ve hit harder if there was tad bit more development in the relationships like seeing ZERO interaction or calls with max and el like I could understand el and max where friends but not very good friends so seeing el emotional at max was almost empty because I felt like stuff like max knowing how El’s not fitting in

I actually think Mike knows how Will feels, especially when he said El gave him the idea for the pic even though Eleven told him in the letter she didn't know what he was painting and maybe it was for a girl. Mike knows he's just not reciprocating.

Agreed, if the duffer brothers really want to make an impact on people they gotta kill off some of the main cast. In my opinion the scene in episode 4 was a perfect potential death scene for Max. Even though i love Max as a character, i still think killing her off at that point would have been the best decision in terms of good story writing
It is. And part of me wonders if the duffer brothers wanted to kill off main characters but the Netflix higher ups straight up said no you can't do that it has to be new characters. Because stranger things is one of the most highest earning shows. I don't want to believe that tho because it's depressing af to imagine the suits fucking with their artistic vision. But idk it just seems crazy at this point how high the stakes are and how many side characters and random people in town or dying while the mains just don't.

I'm sad Eddie (Joseph) died, but I figured it would be him because I don't think there was any way they could prove him innocent and even if they did, he would have to leave town because the people there would harass him and treat him badly. Lucan (Caleb) had me weeping, the voice cracking and tears and the fight with insane Jason (glad he was burnt in half). Lucas had me broken. He did a wonderful job!

For me, I take into account that the story takes place in the 80s. How many teens were coming out then? At the height of the AIDs crisis and Reagan. It makes sense if he never explicitly comes out, although I hope he is able to come to terms with it by the end of the show.

I also think Max’s storyline may take the dark turn you mentioned, because Vecna’s plan wouldn’t have followed through if he didn’t collect her soul, right? 🥴
I really liked the scene between Will and Jonathan. It was probably my favorite. Will isn't ready to come out and that's okay,. But having his brother telling him he knows and that he loves him for who he is and will always be there for him was wonderful. Elevn bringing Max back to life was stupid. I don't want Max dead, but she should be. That was a weak cop-out on the writers' part.
Strangers Things is like a darker version of Neverending Story. Vecna/The Mind Flayer is The Nothing. Eleven is Atreyu. And Will is Bastion. Though Eleven seems like the chosen one she is really the false chosen one like Atreyu. And like the story started with Will it will be Will who will be the real chosen one and save the day. Albeit the ending won't be as happy as the Neverending Story. Every season parallels Will's journey, with Henry's and ultimately it will be the dark wizard against the light.
omg yes yes, when you mention the performances in Eddie’s final scene (which I’m also a like ‘hmm’ about whether it was absolutely necessary for Eddie to head back out) and with Lucas. They were brilliant. I do get the stakes conversation and agree that every single major character making it out of things like this is a little ‘hmm [2].’ I will say though that for Max since there was discussion of how Vecna was a metaphor for depression for her character, selfishly I’m kinda like ‘ok but I kinda want her to pull through tbh.’ It’s been awhile, but I don’t remember being this hype at the end of season three (nor did I ever cry like I did during Max’s ‘running to happiness’ sequence or get unnerved like I did at the end of episode one) so super solid season to me. Thanks for making this!

I disagree with you about the California group. I THINK IT was important to the storyline cause Will is going to be the main focus in Season 5. Vecna is going to use his love for Mike against him. Maybe we will get a possessed/ vessel Will. The ending also shows El by herself looking at dying flower which were the same type that Mike picked for her and brought to her at the airport. and Mike/Will standing together in the middle of the canon couples. They did that for a reason. I agree the ilu was so cringy and he couldn’t even say it on his own cause Will had to keep him speaking. I think them having that scene in that spot did take me out of it.
I am all in for more Will. Noah is brilliant and I really think they gave him too little screen and story time during 3 and 4. I personally hate the way they disturbed the friendship between Will and Mike from I'd die for you in S2 and not leave your side to ...barely hug? But all of Mike's char fell a little flat ever since. Like he's only there for Eleven. Everyone else has his own story but Mike. They should give him a little more, too.
Everything we are seeing makes total sense. Mike felt awkward at the airport because Will hadnt been reaching out & mike hadnt either. Season 3 is mike seeing eleven after thinking she was dead for like a year??? so ya he focused on her after having spent the previous season with Will the entire time. People need to lighten up on Mike. Kid almost watches his gf and Will die every season and he is emotionally protecting himself, we even hear that. He just needs to believe in himself again but it would be weird if he wasnt mentally messed up by now. I do agree he needs more to do and hope he returns as leader
I'd be fine with Eddie dying: a) If they had been still sad and mourning after 2 DAMNED DAYS he died and not happily folding clothes. b) If his name could be cleared in the town. Is he gonna be a villain forever? Responsible for all the deaths?
Fr they killed him and then everyone either forgot he existed or blamed him for everything.... I would have loved to see him still a part of the group in s5 to face the town and clear his name, finally revealing the true darkness of Hawkins to the world
I personally think it is good that they are not explicit about it. It feels more intimate walking this journey with him, him feeling what he's feeling without being able to fully express it yet because it is a new experience. It is something I can totally relate to,
I don’t think they’re gonna kill Max off. Remember Papa said that when Vecna takes them, he doesn’t just take them he takes everything that they are so Max‘s soul could be still lingering wherever Vecna is. This is similar to how Will still has a connection to Vecna as well. If Max becomes conscious in the next season she and Will could be a lot of help using their connection to Vecna.
I think Mike might have feelings for Will to. He was so weird at the airport, he didn’t want to give Will a hug (but he hugs everyone else without problems) and the way Mike looked at Will during the subtext confession. He was like “😍”. And the monologue to El, sounded so… forced? And it was initiated by Will, which is weird. If Mike really did love her he would’ve said so without a hesitation. And El probably picked up in that, bc she didn’t look happy and hearing Mike say ily was everything she ever wanted, right? And not to mention the way she kind of ignores him (and Will) after the monologue, in the cabin and in the ending when she’s standing alone with all the couples behind her. I think that was a hint that in s5 she’s going to be independent and strong on her own, that she doesn’t need a boy to feel strong.
While I'm personally very over Mileven and would love to see El be independent from him, I really don't think Mike loves Will back. He's routinely lost interest in Will the second El shows up (s1 he's more interested in finding Eleven than finding Will; s2 he's super worried about Will all season, then El shows up in the finale and he's just super worried about her instead; s3 his entire arc is about being a shitty friend to Will because all he cares about is Eleven; s4 all he does is pine after Eleven and when he learns she's been lying to him, he immediately blames Will for not telling him the truth even when it's her fault). And almost every single scene this season was about him moaning to Will that he's worried he's gonna lose Eleven, and Will having to endlessly give him pep talks. It sucks for Will, but Mike's definitely straight, and El is definitely a lot more important to him than Will.

I don't really think Mike loves Will back in that way unfortunately. I think Mike's awkwardness is him realizing that Will is gay but also knowing that he still wants to be able to be friends with him. I think he's trying to find a way to have that conversation with Will without hurting him but also not forcing himself to do something he doesn't want to do.
I feel like Mike was the FIRST one to realize Will was gay. In season 3 they kinda get in a fight about it. Will is clingy and wants to play D&D with the boys and Mike says its not his fault he doesn't like girls. I think the awkwardness at the airport is because Mike knows and is uncomfortable with Will's unrequited feelings for him. Maybe he's trying to keep his distance so he doesn't hurt him? Its why he doesnt write Will. Its why he keeps stressing his concern for EL to Will.
No, Mike loves eleven. He is acting weird because we hear Will ask him, "Are you mad at me for not talking to you?" because Will barely reached out to him either. Both of them felt lost without each other so they almost tried going cold turkey. Like Will said, "if im gonna lose you, its easier to rip it off like a band aid" Mike felt awkward that they hadnt been talking and Will picked up on it. Mikes speech did not feel forced at all. In fact, that was the most Mike felt/sounded in a LONG time. Hes been beaten down lately and felt useless. Hes afraid because every season El nearly dies and he cant protect her. So he was trying to make it hurt less if it happens. Nothing about it sounded forced. El didn't look happy? Are you guys watching the same show? She was breaking down BECAUSE she had been waiting to hear it. Like the way people are diminishing Mikes speech because they want to ship Will and Mike is just plain sad. Eleven has loved Mike every day since she met him just like he has. Eleven felt guilty she lost and couldnt protect Max which is why she was isolated in the last scenes.
Too many people are obsessed with characters dying all the time, it's more than enough shows out there where main character s die. It is possible for everyone to survive in a story you know, how rare is that; people always want the exact same formulaic story beats.
Agreed!!! Killing main characters is so played out/predictable. And I almost can't enjoy a storyline anymore because in the back of my mind I'm like, "Who are they going to kill (next)? People forget you can have emotional impact without killing main characters. I mean look at the two scenes with Max this season... Getting away from Vecna and well, not getting away from Vecna 😭

Glad to see ppl acknowledging that Mike’s confession was a bit of a fumble 🤦🏻♀️ my friends thought I was nuts! I would have liked to see it split into two parts. Mike confesses his love in the moment, but also bring up the love everyone has for her. It really would have shown that she has a WHOLE support system who love the hell out of her. THEN, once they’re back in Hawkins, let El and Mike have a heart-to-heart about how they really feel. Let them talk about their insecurities, how Mike didn’t feel like he was good enough for El and El was afraid he wouldn’t like her without her powers. I HATE how they had a confession moment, and then… LITERALLY DID NOT EXCHANGE A SINGLE WORD for the rest of the season. Ludicrous! Like, no wonder ppl thought their energy was off this season. It WAS.
I will say, I'm pretty sure they were going to kill of Max this season, but they decided not to, probably because they wanted the whole main cast alive for the next one. However, I think it was said that there would be no mercy for the final season in terms of main character deaths.
Just want to say, people need to stop villainizing Mike. He is clearly in a slump and depressed and feels inadequate. That was apparent and then made more clear with his speech. He felt like he was the leader and protector and every season, someone gets nearly killed or he thinks they're dead. He feels useless. He needed some motivation and Will gave him it. People are saying this and that about him but the point of Wills car break down is so the audience sees, not Mike. People are spinning it like he didn't care. Mikes most quoted line to Will this series is asking if he is okay. He certainly would have comforted him if he knew. But he also needs honesty and then he can react accordingly. Will did not reach out to Mike after he moved either, which is why Will asks Mike "are you mad I didnt talk to you?" when they're at the skate rink. People spin it like Will was reaching out to Mike and didn't reply when its that BOTH feel lost without their best friend and like Will said, it would be easier ripping it off like a band aid if i was going to lose you. Also, Mikes speech was GREAT and a HUGE development for him. Mike has never been good at verbalizing his feelings. He expresses them. People take a line out of it and twist it. Mikes life DID start the day he met El because his entire perception of life changed. He was a kid whose greatest knowledge was a game and bike rides with friends. Meeting El, he learned so much at such a young age and what bad things people are capable of. He viewed life differently from then on. She is the love of his life and has super powers. Of course his life changed and began that day. In season 2, Mike told Will something very sincere too. He said the best decision he ever made was saying yes to being his friend. BOTH things are true. Just because Will vanished the day before he met El, doesnt mean something life changing couldnt happen the day after. Bad events do not mean good ones cant happen or the other way around. He spent all of season 1 searching for Will and being the only one defending his name against bullies. Only one refusing to believe he was dead. He spent all of season 2 there by Wills side, trying to make him remember things and come back to reality. Season 3, sure he didnt want to play d and d all the time and neither did Lucas or Dustin. Season 3 was meant to show us how the boys were focusing on girls now but Will was still mentally stuck in his child hood of games due to what he went through. It doesnt make the other boys or Mike BAD. Mike thought Eleven was dead for a year. Of course he was happy to spend time with her. His speech this season felt like more open vulnerable Mike. And thats what he needed to feel. Its very clear to see why he feels useless because those close to him he feels he cant protect. Its also why he stepped back from leader role to focus on being a normal teen and not end of the world stuff. I think Wills talk to him is setting up to return him to his role as leader. But people need to stop being so harsh on a teenage boy while overlooking the other kids faults.
Re: Max's ominously empty scene - It's my own personal theory that when 11 (I'll call her Elle from here on out) dreamwalked into Max's memories, Elle acted as a conduit to keep Max tethered to her own body. Vecna's whole plan was to sever the connection between Max's conscious soul from her body, and it seems like he may have only partially succeeded with Elle being able to keep a single thread in tact. I think in the scene where Elle is looking into the void for Max at the hospital, Max isn't nearby because she's at Vecna's castle finding Billy in the attic sauna. I'm not so sure that the Billy locked in the house was just a twisted memory like his predecessor in the season. With Will being an abandoned mark and being able to feel him, and Billy being a part of the mindflayer, I think Will and Billy are both still connected to Vecna just in the real world and the upside down respectively.
I hope Will finds happiness in the next season, let him find a nice boy who likes him, that'll help him get over Mike because is never going to reciprocate having Eleven. Will deserves the most happiness.

I wouldn't be surprised if Papa aka Dr. Brenner is still with us. He didn't die in season 1 after a demogorgon attack so I'm guessing bullets aren't going to stop him either. Plus, I think it's possible he has powers and it just hasn't been revealed yet, which is why no one has been able to kill him. Also, might be the only one, but I'm looking forward to the return of Kali - I think the ending will be a surprise and everyone will survive because she'll trick Vecna (and us) into thinking everyone died.
I HATE Mike. The Duffer Bros gotta give him a redemption story in season 5 if they don’t want us to hate him. He’s so selfish and only cares about El. Not that he shouldn’t, but come on, he has other friends. Anyway. The acting was PHENOMENAL in episode 9. Felt every kind of emotion. I’m so curious and excited about what they’ll do with season 5.
I think that episode 9 is essentially a game of DnD, the party has been split into many sections. They're all doing their main actions and bonus actions respectively(some DnD jargon here), and attempting to confront the main BBEG for the final conflict. Each character has their own 6 seconds but rather than seeing them on a board where they are taking it in turns, we are seeing each of the characters in realtime. As stranger things being essentially a DnD show, it is a really interesting way to see the show representing that in this way because it shows how an initiated part of combat in video form rather than turn based.
i agree that for volume one and even episode 8 the california group was the least helpful and eventful plot point, but personally i viewed it as the comedic relief amidst the darkest and most stressful season yet. I would like to believe that this was intentional and provided a second for you to breathe while the world is literally ending.
Max's body is alive but her soul is not there but I think the reason they didn't fully kill off Max, is cause her soul is still in the upside down place and she's going to be helpful to them in season 5
I was in tears when Eddie died. I loved his character. He was so much like my last couple of high school boyfriends. Right down to the most metal guitar solo ever. That was so epic.
Will finding his own powers in s5 would be great and I really hope that’s where they’re going with him. Obviously he has potential to with his neck shivers and what not. That would also bring opportunity to answer questions about the ins and outs of el’s powers/how she knew she had them/how she developed them, etc. and then her and will could fight side by side, and maybe he could even save her in the end. It’d be a nice full circle, not to mention super empowering for will and potentially the rest of the cast
I thought it was good but it just didn’t feel right to me. The ending felt rushed. Also I wish they didn’t bring the new characters on just to kill them off. I also think they should’ve just killed Max off instead of this coma arc. The emotional damage would’ve been enough to have people keep watching.

Brenner was hella resilient. Not only did he get thrown around by Eleven, they shot him 3 times, 1 went through the chest, and dude held out for like 10 minutes lol.
I love how the whole season goes according to the D&D game they play, like how they’re fighting the cult of vecna, Dustin rolls an 11 and it’s not enough but Erica rolls a 20 and defeats him, if you count eleven and all of the main casts from season one there are 9 people total plus 11 equals 20. I think season 5 is going to have everyone in Hawkins actually fighting vecna together… just a theory haha
SPOILERS In my opinión, Eddie needed to die because even if his charges where drop, the town people will still be after him because of the satanic bs. He was a great character tho.
They could have kept him alive. He'd just have to be on the run from place to place and change his identity. But it was absolutely doable. They did not need him to die and it honestly feels like lazy writing to me.
I figured the reason why the earthquake wasn’t as like “world ending” catastrophic was because El did bring Max back and she didn’t completely die. In my mind, it halted the end of the world sequence that her death set off.
Tell me I’m wrong but I got strong cop/victim vibes from Lucas’ big scene with Chrissy’ bf (idk his name lol). If so then props to stranger things for recognising police brutality and referencing it.
A lot of black folks don’t like that scene with Jason pointing the gun at Lucas because it comes off as being racially not sensitive especially with what is going on with black people. But I’m sure the writers didn’t want to intentionally make it come off that way. But the scene was still enjoyable to watch.

It would be interesting if Max was trapped in Vecna's mind and when 11 defeats him, she tries to bring Max back with her but she can't. The reason maybe being she's tied to Vecna and will die with him or her body was too damaged and she can't return.
When Vecna killed his first three victims, the bone-breaking scenes gave me the chills, but in the last episode I wanted to shout at him - Break anyone's bones, just don't touch Max!!!
Max deadass needs to come back in season 5. It was basically confirmed by Vecna that Max was indeed suicidal while she was grieving the lose of Billy. And she, herself said she was too when she said she prayed for something terrible to happen to her. To me, her first encounter in Vecna's mind lair was a suicidal person nearing death, but then seeing their happiest memories flash before them gives them the power to fight to live. You can go through something so horrible and traumatic and still fight on. She was just starting to let Lucas and the others back in her life and letting down her walls before Vecna kills her for good before El restarts her heart. It'd be really shitty if she is symbolized as a suicidal person escaping death and continuing to fight to live, only to be faced with death again and actually die just when their walls are down and letting the most important people in their life back in. You can go through hell and back and continue to heal and stay strong for your loved ones and most importantly yourself instead of letting the dark corners of your mind convince you that's its best if you're dead. Her dying for good in season 5 would've made all the progress she's gone through in season 4 to fight to live and letting people back in her life would be all for nothing. That no matter what you do to better yourself its all for nothing in the end would be heart breaking. As a once suicidal person, she's a very comforting and important character to me.
What I REALLY hate is that the Duffer brothers are ignoring Kali Prasad/008’s storyline. Just because a bunch of racists and dumb people with dumb theories (Like Kali was trying to replace eleven as a main character😤) didn’t like her character or her episode in season 2. Why did Eleven never tell Hopper about Kali? Did Vecna/001 help Kali escape the lab just like he tried to help eleven escape? and I know for a FACT that El and the rest of the squad can’t handle this final battle in season 5 by themselves. @netflix BRING BACK KALI! One more thing, IF KALI WAS A WHITE GIRL WITH BLUE EYES OR SOME SHIT INSTEAD OF A BROWN SOUTH ASIAN GIRL YA’LL WOULD BE ALL OVER HER RIGHT? I think for most people it was more that that episode completely took the flow out of season 2 and it felt just out of place. Like you're really invested in what is going on in hawkins and you're exited to see what they're going to do, and suddenly there's this random episode that just put the whole season on pause.
Aside from vecna’s mansion the upside down doesn’t even feel scary or a threat anymore characters can easily go in and go out and beat monsters with with their bare hands.
The show started off with Will. I'd appreciate him being the main focus of season 5. A confession to Mike, being able to spy on Vecna, some happiness, and a final showdown with him would be amazing. Let Will be happy. Because he's constantly suffering and yet he still finds time to put everyone else before himself. Every. Single. Time. His speech to Mike about how important he was to "El" and how "El" asked for the painting nearly had me in tears.

If you re-watch that scene they show Will and the look on his face for is so heart breaking. I think Vecna is going to use this and his feelings for Mike and his past traumas with the upside down against him. I think we may get a Will villain arc but he will be saved by the ‘heart’ … aka Mike will save him.
I can’t stop thinking about how amazing Caleb’s performance was in episode 9. It was so heartbreaking, but such a joy to watch him shine on screen like that.

I think Max is trapped somewhere in Vecna. He was saying the people he kills are still ‘in him’ and he absorbs their power or something. So, it would make sense that Max’s consciousness is consumed by Vecna, unclear if it can be retrieved. I think it’s very like the show to go rescue someone from an evil mindscape, too. At this point, the upside down is a known element and not as scary, so Vecna’s mind is like what the upside down was in season 1.

I think she'll be in season 5 in vecna's mind and have a crutial role to help Eleven, since she is the only one he took and yet is alive, but the duffers already said she's brain dead, blind and all bones broken. I don't think she'll come back from this.😔
I agree that the new hellscape is going to be inside of Vecna's mind, and that is where they will go to time travel into the past to destroy the phylactery which contains Vecna's life-force, likely the clock. I think that El will save Max from within Vecna, and Max will have learned the truth about how to kill Vecna for good.
I also think it is possible that Vecna will temporarily possess Max's body while she is in a coma (maybe why El can then access to his mind to save Max), and he will heal Max's body and give her a new Eye of Vecna that will enable her to see and use some of his powers, which she will get to keep after El expels Vecna from her body.

Seems like after every season finale prior to S4, there wasn't much that didn't affect them. Ppl just moved on, but the sleeping beast finally awoke in the name of Vecna!
Keep in mind that they moved on leading into season 2 bc they were forced too, I agree tho
exactly! i liked that everything didn't turn out well in the end and that things went south with hawkins being split into 4 cracks. throughout the entire season, things went well in the end (e.g. max survives vecnas first attack, eleven doesn't get shot and runs away, things being timed perfectly, hopper lives despite many odds etc.) and at that point i was already expecting the characters to save hawkins at the very end. glad they went with the less predictable option.
I feel like some things can be scarier/sadder than death, and that’s kinda where Max is at the end of this season. She’s alive, but when El goes in her mind, she’s not there. Best case scenario is they get Max’s mind back from Vecna, but even then it was heavily implied that she’ll be blind and paralyzed, unable to see, feel, or move. Not to mention the emotional trauma of legit being murdered. There’s no real going back for Max.
I think she's unable to see and feel because she's still in the trance like state. like when you get possesed by Vecna you're not seeing from or feeling from your actual body, but rather the body that's within the mind, so I think they just need to get her out of the trance which they can only do by killing Vecna.

i just wish mike had better development. after season 1 he was pretty much useless except for a few moments in season 2, and i thought that was so disappointing because he really drove the story in season 1. when will was hyping up mike with his “you’re the heart of the group” speech it just wasn’t really true anymore, even though it was 100% true in season 1.
in season 1, mike held the most belief that will was alive. he was the one that trusted el and brought her into the group. he willingly JUMPED OFF A CLIFF for his friend without a thought. he fought back the most when the lab was taking el away, and was the most upset when she disappeared. to me, that’s what being “the heart” is; it’s being selfless, acting on your emotions, and doing things that you know will help the people you love. mike was a fantastic character in season 1 because while he did all that, he still had his flaws, like his short temper and stubbornness. yet he was still a likeable character.
he’s just not like that anymore! and that’s so disappointing to see this wonderful, caring kid become a moody side character that only talks about el. anyways, will’s pep talk just fell flat because it really wasn’t accurate anymore
I totally get what you mean but I think there might be an explanation to that.
Remember in season 3 when Will constantly begged Mike and Lucas to play dnd with him? And he also told Dustin that they’re for sure gonna hang out like old times and when Mike asks Will if he thought that they were going to stay kids and play dnd in Mike’s basement forever Will says: “Yeah, I guess I thought so.”
On to season 4: The painting Will made is about dnd which highlights a thing from their childhood and when Will confronts Mike about the fact that he hasn’t sent a single letter to him since he’s moved, It’s obvious that Will hasn’t really realized that their friendship isn’t like it used to be.
To me it’s clear that Will is strongly holding on to how things were in the past and I mean, you’re right! Mike is absolutely NOT the heart of the group anymore but Will doesn’t realize that. Will doesn’t live in Hawkins anymore and he probably pushes the lack of contact with Mike off to exactly that. They haven’t talked in 8 months so all that remains of Mike to Will are the memories from the past. Will lives in a memory he has of Mike and he just can’t see that things have changed.
So since all of this “the heart” Stuff is coming from Will it’s only true to character that he’d still see the Mike from the past in the Mike from the present. I also think that all of this makes it so much MORE obvious that Will is actually talking about his own feelings during the pep talk because from season 2 we know that Will would talk to Mike about things he wouldn’t talk about with the other members of the party, highlighting him to be a special part of the group. The leader. The heart.
He was one of the main reasons Wills mind was kept into this reality enough to where the MF didnt have complete permanent control of him. Mike stayed with him all of his season 2, while the other kids didnt bother. He was the heart then too. At the end of season 2 when he finds out both Will is alive and El is alive, he stepped back as leader in season 3 and began trying to be a normal teenager. He kind of lost himself in his emotions feeling like he couldn't protect anyone. Hes clearly been in a depression especially after El and Will moved. Like he said "hawkins just doesnt feel the same with you anymore". He still is the heart of the group. You can be the heart of the group and fall into a depression where you doubt yourself which is exactly what happened.
He just needed motivation and he got it. Mikes speech felt like old Mike peaking through because that was Mike emotional, vulnerable and open which is the Mike that we havent seen lately that has been emotionally closed off to not hurt as much. Mike IS the heart of the group. Will is the soul. Dustin is the brains. Lucas is the rationalization and hands on defense.
Theyre definitely setting up Mike to return to leader role but just think of all hes been through between Will and El almost dying the last few years.

Don't hate me, but when they had Steve talking about the family he wanted, I was like "oh yeah he's gonna die" and I kinda... wanted it to happen? Like, I love him, but it sometimes feels like there are no stakes for the main cast. I was bummed they killed Eddie off so quick when I feel like he had major potential.
It also felt like Steve’s arc was at a good ending place. He really changed for the better and was an inspiration to a lot of people… would have been powerful for him to die. I think the show runners know he’s a favorite though

I saw a video by Georgia Dow (Therapist Reacts) where she says that Will is actually the heart of the group because he’s always the one bringing others up when they’re in their lowest places. It’s Will’s heart on Mike’s shield that is protecting him and the others.
Eddie gave the best concert and the best scene this season and the writers disposed of him so easily and killed him despite people still thinking he's a murderer and a cult leader. Honestly, justice for Eddie.
I feel like because the focus at the start of the whole story was on Will's disappearance, the end is going to explain it a bit more. Now we know about Vecna and his link to the Mind Flayer/The Upside Down in general, I really hope they explore Vecna's connection to Will. Why did he abduct and possess him first and not anyone else in Hawkins? It hinted at their similarities as children a little but I would like for Will to come back as a main character again and for those kind of questions to be answered.
The Duffers confirmed that Will will be a big focus of s5 and Noah Schnapp said that we will find out why Will was the first victim.
The scene with Will and Mike. I’m crying omg. Also I found another clue that Will might be gay (everyone knows he is tho) but I’m still gonna share it. Will’s project for school when they made a presentation of their hero was about Alan Turing. He made the first computer and he was openly gay. It’s probably a sign that Will wants to come out, and I also hope he does in season 5. Let Will be happy for once PLEASE
I'd say they're definitely building to that. I can't see him telling many people (it's the 80s), and probably not Mike because as a straight guy he might be weirded out that Will's crushing on him, but he's definitely gonna tell Jonathan (and maybe Joyce). Even if Jonathan already knows, Will finally feeling ready to tell anyone is a major step for him, and I just know they'll nail the scene like they nailed Robin's.

And he DEFINITELY knows Will is in love with Mike. The looks he kept giving them. And the way that right after the Jonathan/Will scene it cuts to him aggressively bursting back into the restaurant through the swinging doors and looking angrily at Mike.
Wasn't there a Scene in S3 or something were will was angry at the group for only prioritising there girlfriends and Mike saying "It's not my fault you don't like girls" and apologiesing a second later. I kinda took that as him knowing Will is gay, but due it being the 80s with all the sigma not really talking about it. And Mike apologies for bringing up the open secret they didn't take about jet and using it against him.

Yk one major criticism I have is in some aspects they didn’t fully capitalize on the long episodes like I feel like Eddie and max would’ve hit harder if there was tad bit more development in the relationships like seeing ZERO interaction or calls with max and el like I could understand el and max where friends but not very good friends so seeing el emotional at max was almost empty because I felt like stuff like max knowing how El’s not fitting in

It is. And part of me wonders if the duffer brothers wanted to kill off main characters but the Netflix higher ups straight up said no you can't do that it has to be new characters. Because stranger things is one of the most highest earning shows. I don't want to believe that tho because it's depressing af to imagine the suits fucking with their artistic vision. But idk it just seems crazy at this point how high the stakes are and how many side characters and random people in town or dying while the mains just don't.

Lucan (Caleb) had me weeping, the voice cracking and tears and the fight with insane Jason (glad he was burnt in half). Lucas had me broken. He did a wonderful job!
They love to tease us with the lgbtq romances. Give poor Will and Robin a break and let them have a smooch with someone.
I would also love it if the two could actually meet properly and bond with each other. I feel like Will could really benefit from that.

For me, I take into account that the story takes place in the 80s. How many teens were coming out then? At the height of the AIDs crisis and Reagan. It makes sense if he never explicitly comes out, although I hope he is able to come to terms with it by the end of the show.

I really liked the scene between Will and Jonathan. It was probably my favorite. Will isn't ready to come out and that's okay,. But having his brother telling him he knows and that he loves him for who he is and will always be there for him was wonderful.
Elevn bringing Max back to life was stupid. I don't want Max dead, but she should be. That was a weak cop-out on the writers' part.

Strangers Things is like a darker version of Neverending Story. Vecna/The Mind Flayer is The Nothing. Eleven is Atreyu. And Will is Bastion. Though Eleven seems like the chosen one she is really the false chosen one like Atreyu. And like the story started with Will it will be Will who will be the real chosen one and save the day. Albeit the ending won't be as happy as the Neverending Story. Every season parallels Will's journey, with Henry's and ultimately it will be the dark wizard against the light.
omg yes yes, when you mention the performances in Eddie’s final scene (which I’m also a like ‘hmm’ about whether it was absolutely necessary for Eddie to head back out) and with Lucas. They were brilliant.
I do get the stakes conversation and agree that every single major character making it out of things like this is a little ‘hmm [2].’ I will say though that for Max since there was discussion of how Vecna was a metaphor for depression for her character, selfishly I’m kinda like ‘ok but I kinda want her to pull through tbh.’ It’s been awhile, but I don’t remember being this hype at the end of season three (nor did I ever cry like I did during Max’s ‘running to happiness’ sequence or get unnerved like I did at the end of episode one) so super solid season to me. Thanks for making this!

The ending also shows El by herself looking at dying flower which were the same type that Mike picked for her and brought to her at the airport.

I am all in for more Will. Noah is brilliant and I really think they gave him too little screen and story time during 3 and 4. But all of Mike's char fell a little flat ever since. Like he's only there for Eleven. Everyone else has his own story but Mike. They should give him a little more, too.
Everything we are seeing makes total sense. Mike felt awkward at the airport because Will hadnt been reaching out & mike hadnt either. Season 3 is mike seeing eleven after thinking she was dead for like a year??? so ya he focused on her after having spent the previous season with Will the entire time. People need to lighten up on Mike. Kid almost watches his gf and Will die every season and he is emotionally protecting himself, we even hear that. He just needs to believe in himself again but it would be weird if he wasnt mentally messed up by now. I do agree he needs more to do and hope he returns as leader
I'd be fine with Eddie dying: a) If they had been still sad and mourning after 2 DAMNED DAYS he died and not happily folding clothes. b) If his name could be cleared in the town. Is he gonna be a villain forever? Responsible for all the deaths?
Fr they killed him and then everyone either forgot he existed or blamed him for everything.... I would have loved to see him still a part of the group in s5 to face the town and clear his name, finally revealing the true darkness of Hawkins to the world
I personally think it is good that they are not explicit about it. It feels more intimate walking this journey with him, him feeling what he's feeling without being able to fully express it yet because it is a new experience. It is something I can totally relate to,

I don’t think they’re gonna kill Max off. Remember Papa said that when Vecna takes them, he doesn’t just take them he takes everything that they are so Max‘s soul could be still lingering wherever Vecna is. This is similar to how Will still has a connection to Vecna as well. If Max becomes conscious in the next season she and Will could be a lot of help using their connection to Vecna.
I think Mike might have feelings for Will to. He was so weird at the airport, he didn’t want to give Will a hug (but he hugs everyone else without problems) and the way Mike looked at Will during the subtext confession. He was like “😍”. And the monologue to El, sounded so… forced? And it was initiated by Will, which is weird. If Mike really did love her he would’ve said so without a hesitation. And El probably picked up in that, bc she didn’t look happy and hearing Mike say ily was everything she ever wanted, right? And not to mention the way she kind of ignores him (and Will) after the monologue, in the cabin and in the ending when she’s standing alone with all the couples behind her. I think that was a hint that in s5 she’s going to be independent and strong on her own, that she doesn’t need a boy to feel strong.
While I'm personally very over Mileven and would love to see El be independent from him, I really don't think Mike loves Will back. He's routinely lost interest in Will the second El shows up (s1 he's more interested in finding Eleven than finding Will; s2 he's super worried about Will all season, then El shows up in the finale and he's just super worried about her instead; s3 his entire arc is about being a shitty friend to Will because all he cares about is Eleven; s4 all he does is pine after Eleven and when he learns she's been lying to him, he immediately blames Will for not telling him the truth even when it's her fault). And almost every single scene this season was about him moaning to Will that he's worried he's gonna lose Eleven, and Will having to endlessly give him pep talks. It sucks for Will, but Mike's definitely straight, and El is definitely a lot more important to him than Will.

I don't really think Mike loves Will back in that way unfortunately. I think Mike's awkwardness is him realizing that Will is gay but also knowing that he still wants to be able to be friends with him. I think he's trying to find a way to have that conversation with Will without hurting him but also not forcing himself to do something he doesn't want to do.
I feel like Mike was the FIRST one to realize Will was gay. In season 3 they kinda get in a fight about it. Will is clingy and wants to play D&D with the boys and Mike says its not his fault he doesn't like girls.

No, Mike loves eleven. He is acting weird because we hear Will ask him, "Are you mad at me for not talking to you?" because Will barely reached out to him either. Both of them felt lost without each other so they almost tried going cold turkey. Like Will said, "if im gonna lose you, its easier to rip it off like a band aid" Mike felt awkward that they hadnt been talking and Will picked up on it.
Mikes speech did not feel forced at all. In fact, that was the most Mike felt/sounded in a LONG time. Hes been beaten down lately and felt useless. Hes afraid because every season El nearly dies and he cant protect her. So he was trying to make it hurt less if it happens. Nothing about it sounded forced. El didn't look happy? Are you guys watching the same show? She was breaking down BECAUSE she had been waiting to hear it. Like the way people are diminishing Mikes speech because they want to ship Will and Mike is just plain sad.
Eleven has loved Mike every day since she met him just like he has.
Eleven felt guilty she lost and couldnt protect Max which is why she was isolated in the last scenes.
Too many people are obsessed with characters dying all the time, it's more than enough shows out there where main character s die. It is possible for everyone to survive in a story you know, how rare is that; people always want the exact same formulaic story beats.
Agreed!!! Killing main characters is so played out/predictable. And I almost can't enjoy a storyline anymore because in the back of my mind I'm like, "Who are they going to kill (next)? People forget you can have emotional impact without killing main characters. I mean look at the two scenes with Max this season... Getting away from Vecna and well, not getting away from Vecna 😭

I would have liked to see it split into two parts. Mike confesses his love in the moment, but also bring up the love everyone has for her. It really would have shown that she has a WHOLE support system who love the hell out of her. THEN, once they’re back in Hawkins, let El and Mike have a heart-to-heart about how they really feel. Let them talk about their insecurities, how Mike didn’t feel like he was good enough for El and El was afraid he wouldn’t like her without her powers.

He felt like he was the leader and protector and every season, someone gets nearly killed or he thinks they're dead. He feels useless. He needed some motivation and Will gave him it. People are saying this and that about him but the point of Wills car break down is so the audience sees, not Mike. People are spinning it like he didn't care. Mikes most quoted line to Will this series is asking if he is okay. He certainly would have comforted him if he knew. But he also needs honesty and then he can react accordingly. Will did not reach out to Mike after he moved either, which is why Will asks Mike "are you mad I didnt talk to you?" when they're at the skate rink. People spin it like Will was reaching out to Mike and didn't reply when its that BOTH feel lost without their best friend and like Will said, it would be easier ripping it off like a band aid if i was going to lose you.
Also, Mikes speech was GREAT and a HUGE development for him. Mike has never been good at verbalizing his feelings. He expresses them. People take a line out of it and twist it. Mikes life DID start the day he met El because his entire perception of life changed. He was a kid whose greatest knowledge was a game and bike rides with friends. Meeting El, he learned so much at such a young age and what bad things people are capable of. He viewed life differently from then on. She is the love of his life and has super powers. Of course his life changed and began that day. In season 2, Mike told Will something very sincere too. He said the best decision he ever made was saying yes to being his friend. BOTH things are true. Just because Will vanished the day before he met El, doesnt mean something life changing couldnt happen the day after. Bad events do not mean good ones cant happen or the other way around.
He spent all of season 1 searching for Will and being the only one defending his name against bullies. Only one refusing to believe he was dead. He spent all of season 2 there by Wills side, trying to make him remember things and come back to reality. Season 3, sure he didnt want to play d and d all the time and neither did Lucas or Dustin. Season 3 was meant to show us how the boys were focusing on girls now but Will was still mentally stuck in his child hood of games due to what he went through. It doesnt make the other boys or Mike BAD. Mike thought Eleven was dead for a year. Of course he was happy to spend time with her. His speech this season felt like more open vulnerable Mike. And thats what he needed to feel.
Its very clear to see why he feels useless because those close to him he feels he cant protect. Its also why he stepped back from leader role to focus on being a normal teen and not end of the world stuff. I think Wills talk to him is setting up to return him to his role as leader.
But people need to stop being so harsh on a teenage boy while overlooking the other kids faults.
Re: Max's ominously empty scene - It's my own personal theory that when 11 (I'll call her Elle from here on out) dreamwalked into Max's memories, Elle acted as a conduit to keep Max tethered to her own body. Vecna's whole plan was to sever the connection between Max's conscious soul from her body, and it seems like he may have only partially succeeded with Elle being able to keep a single thread in tact. I think in the scene where Elle is looking into the void for Max at the hospital, Max isn't nearby because she's at Vecna's castle finding Billy in the attic sauna. I'm not so sure that the Billy locked in the house was just a twisted memory like his predecessor in the season. With Will being an abandoned mark and being able to feel him, and Billy being a part of the mindflayer, I think Will and Billy are both still connected to Vecna just in the real world and the upside down respectively.
I hope Will finds happiness in the next season, let him find a nice boy who likes him, that'll help him get over Mike because is never going to reciprocate having Eleven. Will deserves the most happiness.
Well, the Duffers just said that they will not be introducing any new characters in s5, so it looks like the show is going to end with Will being lonely🥲

I wouldn't be surprised if Papa aka Dr. Brenner is still with us. He didn't die in season 1 after a demogorgon attack so I'm guessing bullets aren't going to stop him either. Plus, I think it's possible he has powers and it just hasn't been revealed yet, which is why no one has been able to kill him. Also, might be the only one, but I'm looking forward to the return of Kali - I think the ending will be a surprise and everyone will survive because she'll trick Vecna (and us) into thinking everyone died.

I HATE Mike. The Duffer Bros gotta give him a redemption story in season 5 if they don’t want us to hate him. He’s so selfish and only cares about El. Not that he shouldn’t, but come on, he has other friends. Anyway. The acting was PHENOMENAL in episode 9. Felt every kind of emotion. I’m so curious and excited about what they’ll do with season 5.
Will broke my heart in Volume 2
I think that episode 9 is essentially a game of DnD, the party has been split into many sections. They're all doing their main actions and bonus actions respectively(some DnD jargon here), and attempting to confront the main BBEG for the final conflict. Each character has their own 6 seconds but rather than seeing them on a board where they are taking it in turns, we are seeing each of the characters in realtime.
As stranger things being essentially a DnD show, it is a really interesting way to see the show representing that in this way because it shows how an initiated part of combat in video form rather than turn based.
i agree that for volume one and even episode 8 the california group was the least helpful and eventful plot point, but personally i viewed it as the comedic relief amidst the darkest and most stressful season yet. I would like to believe that this was intentional and provided a second for you to breathe while the world is literally ending.

Max's body is alive but her soul is not there but I think the reason they didn't fully kill off Max, is cause her soul is still in the upside down place and she's going to be helpful to them in season 5
I was in tears when Eddie died. I loved his character. He was so much like my last couple of high school boyfriends. Right down to the most metal guitar solo ever. That was so epic.
Will finding his own powers in s5 would be great and I really hope that’s where they’re going with him. Obviously he has potential to with his neck shivers and what not. That would also bring opportunity to answer questions about the ins and outs of el’s powers/how she knew she had them/how she developed them, etc. and then her and will could fight side by side, and maybe he could even save her in the end. It’d be a nice full circle, not to mention super empowering for will and potentially the rest of the cast

I thought it was good but it just didn’t feel right to me. The ending felt rushed. Also I wish they didn’t bring the new characters on just to kill them off. I also think they should’ve just killed Max off instead of this coma arc. The emotional damage would’ve been enough to have people keep watching.

When Eleven went into Max's mind and there was nothing there, I thought they were telling us that Max was basically brain dead.
Eddie staying back was more about him not running away. It was a personal growth moment.
Brenner was hella resilient. Not only did he get thrown around by Eleven, they shot him 3 times, 1 went through the chest, and dude held out for like 10 minutes lol.
I love how the whole season goes according to the D&D game they play, like how they’re fighting the cult of vecna, Dustin rolls an 11 and it’s not enough but Erica rolls a 20 and defeats him, if you count eleven and all of the main casts from season one there are 9 people total plus 11 equals 20. I think season 5 is going to have everyone in Hawkins actually fighting vecna together… just a theory haha

In my opinión, Eddie needed to die because even if his charges where drop, the town people will still be after him because of the satanic bs. He was a great character tho.
They could have kept him alive. He'd just have to be on the run from place to place and change his identity. But it was absolutely doable. They did not need him to die and it honestly feels like lazy writing to me.

I figured the reason why the earthquake wasn’t as like “world ending” catastrophic was because El did bring Max back and she didn’t completely die. In my mind, it halted the end of the world sequence that her death set off.
Tell me I’m wrong but I got strong cop/victim vibes from Lucas’ big scene with Chrissy’ bf (idk his name lol). If so then props to stranger things for recognising police brutality and referencing it.
A lot of black folks don’t like that scene with Jason pointing the gun at Lucas because it comes off as being racially not sensitive especially with what is going on with black people. But I’m sure the writers didn’t want to intentionally make it come off that way. But the scene was still enjoyable to watch.

It would be interesting if Max was trapped in Vecna's mind and when 11 defeats him, she tries to bring Max back with her but she can't. The reason maybe being she's tied to Vecna and will die with him or her body was too damaged and she can't return.

I think that dragon is the monster of season 5. And Will is crying because he knows that something big is coming.
Max deadass needs to come back in season 5. It was basically confirmed by Vecna that Max was indeed suicidal while she was grieving the lose of Billy. And she, herself said she was too when she said she prayed for something terrible to happen to her. To me, her first encounter in Vecna's mind lair was a suicidal person nearing death, but then seeing their happiest memories flash before them gives them the power to fight to live. You can go through something so horrible and traumatic and still fight on. She was just starting to let Lucas and the others back in her life and letting down her walls before Vecna kills her for good before El restarts her heart. It'd be really shitty if she is symbolized as a suicidal person escaping death and continuing to fight to live, only to be faced with death again and actually die just when their walls are down and letting the most important people in their life back in. You can go through hell and back and continue to heal and stay strong for your loved ones and most importantly yourself instead of letting the dark corners of your mind convince you that's its best if you're dead. Her dying for good in season 5 would've made all the progress she's gone through in season 4 to fight to live and letting people back in her life would be all for nothing. That no matter what you do to better yourself its all for nothing in the end would be heart breaking. As a once suicidal person, she's a very comforting and important character to me.

I think for most people it was more that that episode completely took the flow out of season 2 and it felt just out of place. Like you're really invested in what is going on in hawkins and you're exited to see what they're going to do, and suddenly there's this random episode that just put the whole season on pause.

Aside from vecna’s mansion the upside down doesn’t even feel scary or a threat anymore characters can easily go in and go out and beat monsters with with their bare hands.
