- Four-time Tony nominee Tovah Feldshuh talks with Broadway.com editor-in-chief Paul Wontorek about joining FUNNY GIRL as Mrs. Rosie Brice, playing opposite Lea Michele and more.
I just love hearing a actress talk with such excitement about her craft and creating a role . Way to go tovah feldshu
She is 73 years old!! There is no way this woman looks or acts 73 years old. Wow. She looks absolutely stunning and is in amazing shape. You are my hero.
I didn’t know who Tovah was but I love the sound of her voice when she speaks, it’s so peaceful and calm. I could listen to her all day long!
I only knew her from Crazy Ex-Girlfriend series. Try to Watch that.. a musical-ish series. With Rachel Bloom as her daughter
I just discovered her too because of Funny Girl. I could listen to her talk about her role and acting forever. She’s marvelous
"I was born to play this role". YES TOVAH!! YOU AND LEA BORN TO PLAY THIS ROLE 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Wow. What humility and profound gratitude. ❤Tovah
These two are a dream team.
I love her and LEA!
What a class act. ❤
I love her voice so much. Such a huge fan. Kissing Jessica Stein is one of my favorite comfort movies.
I love both the end Tova.
She's not the first Jewish actress to play Mrs. Brice: Lillian Roth did the role in London with Streisand.
I just finished watching Silver Bullet and wondered who did the voice of older Jane, it was Tovah.
I love her voice a lot. I wish she was still on the walking dead (Deanna Monroe)
This is how you age ladies!!! Take note!
Legend.
I have no interest in seeing this production (for many reasons) but I gotta say, Tovah is a class act. When she talked about “being a senior citizen” I gasped bc she is so vital (and let’s not even get into those amazing arms!).
It's unbelievable how the media went from keeping a low profile with Lea Michele to having her walking through every outlet on Broadway ignoring her past problems, her PR has done a great job of washing her face in every one of those interviews...
Wow you must be perfect. We have all been young and stupid except you. Please tell us your secret. Please show us how you have completely sidestepped mistakes. Bad choices, bad decisions and at times just being a plain old ass. Perhaps you could write a book. I'm sure there would be a lot of people interested in how you have managed to live this life bypassing what it is like to be human. Let him without sin throw the first stone. Everyone, everyone is deserving of a second chance. Even you.
It's a lovely sentiment, however Funny Girl isn't a great show etc.
You can't compare it with Gypsy!!
Funny Girl isn't a great show (though it has some great songs) but Fanny Brice is a great role... in the right hands and vocal cords. (Unlike Dolly Gallagher Levi in Hello, Dolly, which is pretty much fool-proof.) Gypsy is that rare thing: great music, great lyrics, great book and great roles -- plural. As a result, Mama Rose, which was tailored for Ethel Merman's voice as Fanny Brice was for Barbra Streisand's, can actually be performed successfully by interpreters with more modest vocal resources: of the three Mama Roses I've seen in the theater -- Angela Lansbury, Tyne Daly and Patti Lupone -- it was Daly who knocked it out of the park, not least because she was both a star and a member of an excellent all-round cast.
