  • Kagemusha Junior Taiko perform "The Gift" by Jonathan Kirby in London's Royal Albert Hall on Wednesday 10th November 2010. The performance was part of the Music For Youth Schools Prom.
“Omiyage” is the Japanese word for “gift”. It is also the name of a composition by Shoji Kameda which he gave to the taiko community and which inspired the style of this piece. “The Gift” is a thank you not just to Shoji but for the gift of taiko as a whole.

Sure great to see kids doing something this creative. Teamwork, discapline, precision, and yet the individuallity of each kid is elevated rather than diminished.
    Excellant performance!!

I see. They've executed well, if only they're bouncing it would be a lot better. There's that feet bouncing and knee movement that would make the performance very powerful.

God damn in hell that was good! Thank you.
    EDIT
What is this anyway? A whole lot of brits turning on to Taiko? Maybe? I don't know. It sure sounds good to me.
