One major point missed in the discussion. A couple can decide to be childless to not bring their child to a world full of unneccessary challenges and issues. War, politics, disease, etc.

Money plays a very big role in child rearing and no of kids. Mr ambani had a very happy time raising 3 kids and giving them empires but for most parents it's a journey of continous sacrifice and compromises in daily needs and wants.
It's okay to be child-free. the decision not to be a parent should be respected and admired. It's a personal choice. And rather it is a very noble need. Much respect for all couples who want to be child-free.
Why is it noble? Having children should also be noble then as couples are taking responsibility to being up another human which is central to economic growth.

India needs to start promoting childfree life, we are dealing with overpopulation without any policy to counter it, population will lead to horizontal expansion of cities destroying everything in the process.
Yes, the overpopulated cities and villages are already a burden to natural resources. Struggle for resources and opportunities has been witnessed by this generation and whatever decision this generation is taking should be respected because it is affected by multidimensional factors. If we procreate with the same rate as the yester generation did then soon there will be a significant percentage of population who will be landless, jobless, Resourceless etc. I think people are taking decisions after a lot of analysis and they understand how much they can compromise on mental and physical health and finances specially when they are in high input demanding jobs etc.

For couples who want to separate, even the children can't stop them. They will separate and distribute custody of children among themselves. So children may not be the right tool to stop separation or divorces.

I am 37 and happily childfree. Parenthood is not for me. We are happy with our decision. It's personal choice whether to have kids or not. Not obligation
This kind of social pressure should actually be ignored by younger generation of today. Its a big problem now , financially as well as emotionally. Better to remain child less and contribute towards , reducing India's population.
I think married couples should work on themselves and communicate with eachother rather than deciding to have children and expect it will change or bring more intimacy and understanding between partners. I recently gave birth to a child and believe me i had seen my body go through the transition. It is a huge sacrifice and it raised my respect for my parents. The happiness i get after i see my child is incomparable and i can sacrifice everything for my baby. It us not something I've always dreamt about but it is something in your dna which can't be changed.

On of the biggest reasons is also rapidly falling fertility rates of men and women. Large percentage of population is having to opt for expensive IVF treatment to have children which can be a difficult financial decision.

The problem of 5% of people in India of having no kid can't be generalized. 90% still believe in the family system. And after marriage have at least one or two kids. Now people are getting more aware about the expenses of raising a child. Problem is having a single child. Child feels lonely in a nuclear family, not having siblings who may help him, parents also pamper the kid and the child gets spoiled eventually.

To be honest, though I sympathize with the reasons to not have kids, now that I am getting to know my grown children as young adults, I am so happy and thrilled with the amazing individuals they have become. Everything in my life , good and not good, led their presence in the world and I feel blessed! Having them young allowed me to evolve with them and empathise with them. Old people should avoid having kids as it requires a lot of energy and humility.
Climate changes, war possibilities, child trafficking , change in people mentality these are the reasons why today's couple want to be childless in my opinion. The main factor for discouragement to raise children is money. There is no money and also reservation. You children will study for 24 hours and might still not get a job whereas st, sc, obc will get a job by studying half of that amount
@@ab1878private sectors give so much mental pressure to employees. I worked almost 3 years in private hospital and all i got is anxiety and depression 😢. Irony is I am a hardworking person and try to do everything perfect. Now working in govt sector and feeling relaxed. There r so much politics going on here also but the mental pressure reduced to almost 10 percent. I am feeling happy now

It was 1 child policy not 2. It changed their demography for worse. There is nothing to like about. Reason can be understood but how it was implemented is a different case altogether Taiwan followed the same trajectory without the policy, so is India. Look for some documentaries in free time about 1 child policy, it was brutal for its people. Infants, premies were on streets murdered.

I recently gave birth to a child and believe me i had seen my body go through the transition. It is a huge sacrifice and it raised my respect for my parents. The happiness i get after i see my child is incomparable and i can sacrifice everything for my baby. The problem of 5% of people in India of having no kid can't be generalized. 90% still believe in the family system. And after marriage have at least one or two kids. Now people are getting more aware about the expenses of raising a child.
Problem is having a single child. Child feels lonely in a nuclear family, not having siblings who may help him, parents also pamper the kid and the child gets spoiled eventually.

To be honest, though I sympathize with the reasons to not have kids, now that I am getting to know my grown children as young adults, I am so happy and thrilled with the amazing individuals they have become. Everything in my life , good and not good, led their presence in the world and I feel blessed! Having them young allowed me to evolve with them and empathise with them. Old people should avoid having kids as it requires a lot of energy and humility.
Climate changes, war possibilities, child trafficking , change in people mentality these are the reasons why today's couple want to be childless in my opinion.
