All good man. I just wanted to offer my perspective on the cost of the el Diablo. I wasn’t trying to correct you or anything. The fact is most dealers mark them up. So you’re right on that.

I can say that Laidlaws is a dealer with true integrity. How can I cay that because that is where I bought my bike in 2017. Rick was my sales person and Matt worked up my deal. They also helped me get my bike shipped to Texas when I moved.
There are always conflicts in life but can say Matt is a straigh shooter not a slick sales person. I like both view points and presentation styles.
It all comes down to if you want to pay the price the product is being offered at it is worth it. Correct? Other wise walk away. The customer can say no.
To both, keep up the good content.

Totally agree with you that Matt Laidlaw is one of the best people and dealerships in the HD family. very honorable for them to sell their special edition bike at MSRP. My local dealer definitely marks theirs way up.

My local dealer had one. They were asking $31,749 for it. Not all that bad, but I’m not generally someone who’s willing to bend over quite that far. Props to Matt for selling at msrp. I respect that a ton. If only I had a local dealer with the same principles.

agreed. The nearest dealer to me is 110 miles away and it is owned by the same company that has two others that are the next closest. In the other direction it's over 200 miles and that dealer owns 4 stores. My point is that I can't get a decent deal on a bike. Laidlaw's is over 12 hours away and is still the only dealership within 500 miles of me that sells a bike for MSRP. Keep it up Laidlaw! Hopefully they don't sell out to these corps.

😄 I'm curious about why you aren't a Shadetree fan.
I was a fan of Shadetree for at least a year. I encountered him and his crew several times at events... Rude AF. They couldn't be bothered to have a real conversation. Even when I said something about liking their content, they didn't say 'Thank you.'; presumably because cameras weren't rolling. I get the impression that if they can't use your interaction for content, they aren't interested.
Also, that "charity" he's always talking about is a sham. I've been there and checked out the operation. A lot of the things they've said don't add up. And David (the charity dude) magically has new motorcycles after Shadetree started heavily promoting the "charity". And "Oh look.", David is going on road trips across the country on his new bike(s). Meanwhile, they're letting like 3 kids live in a shack on their property. That first bike that Weems auctioned off for the "charity" brought in over $100,000... then David gets a new bike. 🤔

My brother wanted the El Diablo. Our local dealership wanted an extra $1000 over msrp. He said no way. Now he regrets it because he can't find a dealership that will let it go at sticker price or 1k above sticker.
He has been calling around the country and they are anywhere from 3k to 8k over msrp (at that time). So 40k for the bike is spot on if you include all the extra cost from HD, 8k price differential and TTL.
Ahhhhh.....no thank you. Build your own for that kind of money 💰

Agree with you 100%. I looked for an El Diablo and the pricing was outrageous...I had a dealer that I called and asked if they were selling at MSRP literally laugh at me on the phone and ask "What is MSRP" and I said 28k...and they came back with...."No...what is MSRP, as in we do not recognize it"....at which I said screw this and bought a Ducati Streetfighter SP for less than the El Diablo. I love Harleys, but I HATE the games being played by the dealerships. I have 3 Harleys and would LOVE to let 2 go to get a LR-ST but I will wait for the used market or will be patient for REALITY of our economy to set in at the dealerships.

I just bought a brand new lowrider ST grey, made ONE out the door offer which included MSRP tax license prep. I did my homework up front, and my own numbers, and presented it as not a penny more. the dealer said it was a fair offer and he took it. Love my new lowrider ST and it is worth every penny I paid for it. This is a fair dealer who now has a new happy customer to spend more money on service and parts and be his biggest advocate for referrals.

Welcome to the supply and demand aspect of your capitalist country... when the president, or government, starts controlling prices, then you’ll find yourself wallowing in a communist collective... those sort of comments.. see election deniers, transgender bs, et al are why our country’s politics are beginning to drift into idiocy... seek the middle ground, mon ami, which dictates you take the high road. Everybody just needs to calm the F down! Trump is a greasy grifter and Biden is a complete hack... hopefully, we get a candidate who is not near to freaking 80 years old with loose screws falling out of them! Sorry for the rant, mate, as you seem well-intentioned, but I have had it with this bs from both sides of the aisle... Biden vs Trump is a joke... both need put to pasture...

Well, well, I’ve got some puretty strong feelings on this subject. The bizarre thing to me is the fact that buyers are complaining that X Harley-Davidson dealer is marking up the bike by X dollars. OK sure, it may be disappointing and what not; it may even incur a disgust or even hatred towards that dealer for their greed. And the sad new for all the boys and girls out there in reality land is that life is full of disappointments and there ain't nuttin' guaranteed. But, since when, and I mean that sincerely - since WHEN - does a Harley-Davidson dealer, or any dealer of anything for that matter, take you into some back room, hold a gun to your head, and make you sign the papers? In fact, in my mind and to my way of thinking and experience (as a previous long time vehicle dealer) the fault/reason for dealers that mark these bikes up and continue to be enabled to mark these bikes up is …wait for it: the fault of the fouling BUYER, that's who! That dude or dudette willingly pulls his or her wallet out and peals out all that ABSURD extra money on top of the lofty-to-begin-with MSRP, is at fault, that’s who!!! It’s still a free country, at least I think, as that’s what I’ve heard ...and so thusly, the antidote to this MSRP padding practice is, what? Very simple: walk the hell away from it. Or, actually, RUN, don’t walk the hell away from it! In fact, in a free market economy, guess who truly actually sets the price? It’s the consumer! New, used, and every flubbin’ point in between on any product made on God’s green earth, it is actually set by the buyer because THAT is the person who wants to or decides to buy X widget for X dollars. It’s called supply and demand - first class in da classroom for Business 101 - look into it. And sure, if there are enough people willing to pay, in full, that exorbitantly padded price-sticker dangling from that bike, which results in a price on said that’s vastly higher than the actual Manufacturers Suggested Retail Price, then sure, that is what happens. But that does NOT mean, in any way shape or form, that YOU nor I need to partake in the scenario where "two fools met." The selling fool for asking the laughable price, AND the buying fool for actually buying it for the price "decided" on by the seller. That ridiculous game, well, umm...you ain't gotta' participate, see? Rather, just safeguard yer retirement or whatever yer savin' yer nickles for so ya don't haffta live under a Freway overpass in a cardboard box, and simply walk the hell away from it; period, full stop! Could anything be more simple than that? I think not.

I hate that we now live in a society where people have to either apologize or clear the air for expressing their opinion. Especially in a case like this. What does one dealer selling at MSRP have to do with other dealers who we all know sell for way over MSRP? So yes, we can ALL see dealers selling bikes above MSRP or even 40k like you said because not all dealers abide by MSRP. I know the youtube community is brutal and you have to play politics at times, but just know we follow you to hear your thoughts and opinions.

The point of offering an OE package like this is so that it’s more affordable than having the bike built custom. It’s still overpriced. The regular Low Rider ST is overpriced. Harley-Davidson is overpriced. How is any of this news? And I’m a fan of the brand.

I always compare bikes to trucks. When I was in high school a fully loaded Chevy Z71 was 40k. That same truck today is 89k. I don't think most Harley models are over priced, things are just more expensive. I wanted the Lowrider ST this year but you;dn't afford it. It's not that it was too expensive, I just couldn't afford it. Plenty of Harleys selling every day. Something is worth whatever someone will pay and a lot of people are paying way over sticker for these bikes.

@@throttleblip9854 You’re hinting at the problem, one of many. Harley-Davidson used to be a blue collar brand. Once they went after the Boomer’s big money in the 90’s-00’s they never looked back. Zeitz doubled down on that making the goal to have HD be the most premium and exclusive brand in the world. The More Roads initiative that he killed when he took over was the path HD needed to be on. For comparison, have you looked at Triumph recently? I know the don’t make the same kind of product, but they’re every much as premium of a brand. The paint quality, materials, build, it’s all top notch and their prices are extremely competitive. It’s not just HD really, but Indian is expensive because Harley-Davidson is expensive, and BMW and Ducati etc etc. The market decided to cater to super premium motorcycles and now $20k for a motorcycle is a normal price, and in some cases it’s a budget offering! I’d love to say the base FLHT is a bargain for that kind of money but $20k for any motorcycle is just ridiculous for the average American. Thank God for brands like Royal Enfield who are making a quality product and selling it for $4000-$6000.

I’m a long time Harley rider and love so many of the bikes that Harley comes out with. I truly mean that.
However!, I think The motorcycle industry as a whole will tank even more than they already have because of ONE thing! PRICE $$$!!! The cost of a new bike is absolutely insane for what a bike is. New riders don’t get into bikes because they simply can’t afford a toy that costs them 600 a month. I told my eyes Evey time I look at a price tag in the dealership. I understand inflation and the times we’re all going through these days but……Damn! Even used bikes are insanely valued. Not 3 yrs ago I bought a 15 ultra limited for $14,500 with only 3k miles on it. Now I could sell that bike for what I paid for it or more. I hope things settle down and people can find the money to find the love of the road again

I personally would never pay $40,000 for a bike when you can buy a good quality machine for much less, that’s only a few years old. My local auto trader has hundreds of used bikes listed every week. Just pick your model

My local dealer "sells at MSRP" but they tack on warranty/maintenance packages you are forced to buy if you want a new bike plus dealer fees. End of the day you're up several thousand over sticker, it's a marketing sham to say they stick to MSRP, they're as money hungry as they come. Used bikes are all 1-2k over what they're actually worth too, and they pull the "show you a monthly payment and pray you don't ask for term/interest rate" when quoting you financing prices as well.
