    Nice to see a new video from you Adam! Honestly following through and super aggressive patience are key, at least in my experience. I've been putting a lot of effort into my music and social media for years, and none of it has ever got any huge numbers, but over time I have been able to build a growing community of people who really enjoy my music and want to support me. I've been doing this for 5+ years and only now is it beginning to really pay off. If anybody out there reads this, keep learning and working hard, and celebrate the small victories along the way. This is definitely not an easy path.

    If you read between the lines, this video is THE no b.s. advice everyone could stand to hear more a little more often. Use your critical thinking / discernment to seek the proper guidance towards your dreams / desires / goals - then develop systems through trial & error that help you take action towards those dreams /desires / goals. Adam, you're cooking with some gas lately, love to see it!

    Number one has been an ongoing struggle. The repetition of creating content and making sure that it captures who I am and what I do in a broad, engaging way that also fits into the algorithm and is under 30 seconds or less isn't really fun for me. I can never fully relax, and it's led to burnout a few times, despite me establishing a shooting/batching schedule. At this point I kinda compare it to sending work emails at my day job

    • @adamivy
      @adamivy  2 месяца назад

      What type of content would be fun for you to create if there were no “rules”?

    • @afrosensei5308
      @afrosensei5308 2 месяца назад

      @adamivy Probably longer form content like a Tiny Desk-type of livestream where I perform my songs with a few people (or solo with backing tracks), maybe have some dancers (I make dance music). I was also a big fan of music videos growing up, but those can be expensive. Or collaborate with an artist and have them make a graphic novel inspired by my lyrics

    • @afrosensei5308
      @afrosensei5308 2 месяца назад

      @adamivy My question/dilemma is how do I find a balance between these bigger/longer form projects that I would be more likely to enjoy and keep an audience while I work on these sorts of projects?

      It’s all good and it’s a valuable question. Some of my students include Maoli, Adelitas Way, Sophie Pecora, William Singe, ClubKillers, ALWZ SNNY, and a bunch of artists who don’t have big names yet, but are finally making money and building momentum which is arguably the most important transition.

    Hey Adam. Because of tiktok and shorts only showing content to the specific country you're in, doesn't this now highly limit the chances of getting your video noticed?

    • @adamivy
      @adamivy  2 месяца назад

      There are definitely challenges that we have to navigate. When living in other countries and trying to break into the North American market, I typically recommend focusing on growing a fanbase locally in your region and then as you get more traction there it’s easier to expand out. You need to build the leverage first. Not sure where you live but I assume it’s outside of North America based on the question.

    • @heinrichsmit2

      @@adamivy I figured that people here aren't as into pop music as in USA and UK. I've been watching Nic D's videos and podcast etc and so I thought okay damn it's all still possible to get music heard using tiktok, until I realized it's now region locked. My region is South Africa. Thanks for the response. Appreciate that and will definitely keep those things in mind.

    You cant honestly say that somebody's not that special that someone's not out to get them. Today I literally seen that the first band I brought in just a month ago is releasing their first single. What they did was they met with me. Picked my brain and then did it themselves. ( After I explained how we would release their music). Those people literally only met with me to get me. And that was the very first interview. Smh

    • @adamivy
      @adamivy  2 месяца назад

      No offense, but it sounds like you might have talked too much and gave them a detailed consultation laying out everything they needed to know for what they wanted to do. In that situation you’re supposed to explain the outcome and transformation. Not how the sausage is made. You made it sound so easy that they decided not to pay you as a service provider and just take the information and implement it. You failed to close a sale. That’s far from someone out to get you.

    • @adamivy
      @adamivy  2 месяца назад

      Also, I might be 100% wrong about the assumptions. Without context I don’t know what you went through. As someone who does his best to help artists I totally understand that the vast majority of artists use me as a tool and want everything for free. I’m sorry you went through that situation either way. Never feels good to feel taken advantage of.

    • @funkymonkey529
      @funkymonkey529 2 месяца назад

      @adamivy No they were definitely out to get me they flat out told me They had no interest in actually paying me. You probably are right.I probably gave them too much information me being excited and all. They were even rude and told me to loose their number. The last time we talked we hung out and jammed. This time. literally all I did was send a message on messenger saying hi and asking if they found a bass player yet. Anyways i'm not trying to argue. I'm just saying that there are people out to get people everywhere. Just because you new at something, doesn't mean that somebody isn't out to get you. Just as it doesn't mean that everyone is. It's pure ignorance to think you know The exact moment of the cut off from when people are out to get you and when they are not. That's all I was saying. I do watch your videos regularly. Even thought about joining the club. But i'm a realist to. so I call it how I see it. I would rather know, expect and be ready for the bad. Not said they're thinking that it'll never happen to me because i'm too small. It is what it is. and it's just the way I am. for real though Don't let anything I said get to you. I actually have Mad respect for you. But.
      As Much as I am against beating around the Bush. I also do not beat around the bush.

    Not even 1 tip in and I’m like, yeah I felt that. I feel like content such as performance clips I’m not a huge fan of making and feel obligated to do because it adds “visuals to my songs” where as I love making behind the scenes videos and on camera story telling videos. I love getting deep and inspiring people with a side of educating but I don’t really have too much fun with the entertainment side of things for some reason. Sorry if that was long bro 🥲
