You can still find some REALLY good deals with marriott! Got a night that goes for 220 cash for 17.5k marriott points this upcoming week. That would be 60k with hilton
Man....if AMEX really did a Green Card with 2x on everything? That would be a huge shot across the bow of the Venture X and basically force Chase to update their Sapphire cards. That said, I'm not sure I see that happening because it'd probably cut deeply into their other cards as well.
I do think if the Green was 2x on everything, you would see ALOT of people jumping in, especially those who were on the fence on AMEX. In addition it could prove to be a great retention card as a low (by comparison) annual fee card thats both a catch all card and still a way to store your member reward points might be the play for many who would otherwise cancel say a plat or a gold and wind up product changing instead. That said, I am not sure how Chase would react, I would love to see and update to the Sapphire cards, heck you want to push a Sapphire card, if chase added gas to the travel category (unlikely) even as potentially a 2x earner I could see alot of people valuing them higher as Chase doesn't really offer much in the gas support outside partner cards in their own ecosystems. And 1.5x on gas on a Freedom Unlimited isn't exactly competitive with the rest of the market. The one thing still holding chase up is the value of its partners and the points.
They really have no reason to do this, unless somebody at Amex is suddenly afraid of Capital One, Citi, Wells Fargo, or some of the other small players (which they're obviously not and neither is Chase). Dropping to 2x base reduces swipe fee profits and (more critically) would pull 1x non-category swipes off of the Gold and Platinum which are their bread and butter. Certainly 2x base rate plus all of the generous 3x categories currently there is just a non-starter - it would be one or the other. They also have to know that adding 2x base to Green would drop their BBP userbase, which is not something that they want to have to report (for financial nor regulatory reasons).
Hey, I just wanted to point out a loophole in the $200 airline credit for the platinum card. You can book with points on Delta if you have your airline set to Delta and then you can cancel the flight and whatever fees were charged to your card to book that flight with points Will trigger the credit. The interesting thing about this is they don’t have a way to retract those credits out of your account so what ends up happening is you just get free money obviously up to $200. Another thing is I also live on the West Coast and using the Dunkin credit is a pain in the butt. But you can redeem seven dollars a month and loaded on a gift card.
I don’t see the 6k cap going up at all unless the annual fee goes up. The cap is meant to limit the loss Amex takes to a reasonable amount that’s reasonably offset by the other spend on the card plus the annual fee. 6% back up to $25k is a huge loss leader to have to make up for.
@@curmudgeonextraordinaire1884 I don't think that makes sense. Most small families should be good on $6K or $500 a month grocery. If it was a larger family they should just get P1 and P2 cards and bam you have 12K. Also, you can do 1 person with BCP and 1 person with Gold to mix and match.
I absolutely love my Amex I have the platinum card and Amex lately has been pestering me about getting the black card is it really worth it ? I am very happy with my platinum card…
I've been making the same suggestion since 2021 and I'll repeat it again here. These are my recommendations for the Amex green card: Make it an overall "entertainment and lifestyle" card by offering 3X points in the following entertainment/lifestyle categories: concerts, sporting events, movies, streaming services, gas, amusement park entrances, fairs, festivals, bars, nightclubs etc. This is all in addition to the current 3X points for general travel.
I wish the Green Card would switch out the CLEAR Credit, so many other cards have it and honestly I am annoyed with CLEAR after the last time I used them anyways. Not sure what to add in it's place but there has to be a better $200 credit right?
I already canceled my Amex Platinum I have no plans to travel this year and a higher AF is not needed for an already high AF travel card. The lounges are crowded and overrated said by most folks so where is the luxury in the lounges. I have my Amex Gold and Business Gold in full swing this year, the coupon book of the Amex Platinum is winning no one over and likely won’t again with this revamp. I’m team Amex but it’s getting ridiculous now ha!
Hey sebby ! I have been following your channel for quite a while now! I work at the grand Hyatt in Deer Valley now. I work as a bartender and you should come by and ski at Deer Valley sometime. I owe you some free drinks for all the knowledge!!
📦 Agree on your thoughts about AmEx’s strategy. I’ve come to the conclusion in my own setup that I can’t ‘half do’ AmEx. I have to be either in or out. I’ve chosen to be in.
After 12 years in the credit game and having over 40 accounts over the years I’m happy to park all my spending on the Venture X. I could make more points than the 150 ish I earn a year but it’s to easy and simple. Only annual fees I’m going to pay are the X and my 10 year old Hyatt that’s in my sock drawer
In my experience, Marriott pts have very little value. On average hardly .5 cents. There are exceptions but I can’t see the value other than getting welcome bonuses. Please prove me wrong! 😑 I wouldn’t put myself out to get their pts.
You still have a mental block about Dunkin on the west coast. They're pretty much everywhere. Like 40 stores in LA! Just cuz you don't see them in SF doesn't mean anything. They've been expanding like crazy for like 5 years
i hope they bring back the everyday, so i can cancel the gold card but keep the MR points. for the Marriott card, i hope ritz carlton also get the refersh with no annual fee increase or minimal increase .. .
Hi, would you please make an updated airline travel cards? I still have my DELTA Reserve and wonder if I should cancel it since I did not make platinum in 2025, made gold. Any card recommendations would be helpful. Thank you

I have never been to a Dunkin in my life, but every month I load $7 onto the app with my gold card. Eventually I will travel somewhere with a dunkin and I'll load up on coffee beans. 😂
i dont have a dunkin locally but last week when i went to the island that did have dunkin, best believe i ran through my 50 dollars worth of dunkin credits that i accumulated lol. not something that i would partake of on the daily but its cool to just order whatever, and try different things with not having to worry about the bill.
Hey Sebby, I have an update idea to you calculator: it could compare cards to each other based on spend. For example, the 4% on Gold may make it profitable by spending alone, but it is more appropriate to compare to a 3% no annual fee option. Really, for the AFvto be worth it over the opportunity cost, you would need to make enough off of only that 1%
@ WOO! I thought about this last year when I got the gold, and while I was a little disappointed that I didn't think of it til after - I didn't have any regret because it is still worth it to me and I've been blown away at how much I love AMEX for their service/support... Which is harder to quantify.
That's exactly the caveat a lot of folks don't think about. I have the BCP, but anyone who has done comparison between BCE and BCP knows the 3% difference in grocery can be calculated by estimating your annual grocery spend against the $95 AF. Is it really 4% dining for Gold if there are 3% no AF cards? I'd argue that's a 1% benefit. But what complicates things on team travel is... each point can be worth from half a cent to 5 cent depending on the redemption. Another reason why I've been team chase over amex is because of flexibility.... I'm happily maxing 5% categories when I can, have 5 personal and 6 business cards. Whether I want to redeem as cash (even travel portal redemption is almost cash like since you don't worry about saver award or availability) or transfer to Hyatt or airlines it's just super flexible. When redeeming portal I'm hitting 7.5% effective cashback thanks to CSR for some of the points, but even minimum it'd be 2.25% from freedom unlimited. 3% dining turns into 4.5%. The math works!
Great video, sir. Im wondering and thinking 2025 just may be the year they come out with the crypto Amex card they were talking about back in 2022. Cheers buddy!
Really don’t want to consider Amex for my setup ughh… but if that 2x happens on the green or even pushes an entertainment section onto the plat or green it my head might start spinning. I’ve been pretty set on getting the cap 1 duo (x + savor) and chase… but chase always feels like a let down for me… the partners are great and the unlimited has been great this year with the 5x on gas and groceries, which I’ve used all year, but once that goes away then what? Still haven’t got the preferred or referred yet not on full travel mode yet just stacking points. Overall that chase trifecta needs some work… flex is useless for me I don’t want to care about rotating categories… especially if I don’t know what they are. I also live outside of nyc, so if I ever do move into the city, then I’m definitely moving to Amex. Overall I just might secure the chase cards points to avoid the 5,24 rules and then pivot to Amex after the cap 1 set up. I’ll have access to the cap 1 x lounges. Might need to make a stop for the bilt card for rent eventually. But this should all take about 2-3 years.
I’m thinking to get the aspire ( I have platinum and Hilton honors) since I have a one week stay in Hilton Kyoto next month but I’m not sure if I want to pay the annual fee plus I might not be able to get the surpass sub. 😢
Roku LxR? I stayed there in '23. Fantastic Hotel stay. Did the Ritz for two nights and Roku for two nights, and I enjoyed the Roku much more. Especially since they upgraded me to the poolside king room.
📦 Green card - 3x travel, transit, gas CLEAR credit, 2 Amex lounge passes (ie excape, centurion, etc) Brilliant change im not sure would happen, without major devaluation, but I am expecting a refresh of the Bonvoy Business Bring back the ED as a 1.5x MR card
Give your friend spending $1k/week on dates my number 😌✨ 😂 jk but i think the blue cash preferred should get a refresh. Since I dont have kids I never hit that $6k/year cap on groceries but some extra useful benefits would be nice considering the AF
The EveryDay was my first Amex card, too. I have had it for 16 years now, so I just keep it around. It also serves as a way to keep MR points if I were to get rid of the Amex Platinum (my only other Amex card) and leave the world of Platinum/Gold/Green cards.
📦My Platinum fee is coming up this February. As someone who travels and lives abroad frequently and for long periods of time I'm struggling to decide on renewing the Platinum or downgrading to the Green. On one hand I can probably secure a discounted annual fee with the upcoming refresh but I really can't get any value from the Platinum so the Green seems like the best option with its multipliers and Clear credit. But I really don't want to lock myself in on a completely changed card with new coupons I can't use abroad.
I hope they differentiate Green. Gas would be an easy category, AM Trak could be a fun partner to work with sticking with the domestic travel theme of the card.
Gas as a category alone would make for a very solid card. Gas, transit and travel (while ditching dining to not compete versus the newly revamped gold) would probably position it as strongly as just becoming an overall 2x card. I like the idea of 2x catch all Amex more, as it wouldn't compete with elevated earning categories on other cards, so it would still have its Niche, but I wonder if that could make some partner cards less attractive. A lower cost (green) catch all Amex could attract alot of consumers and with that increased fee, still lead to alot of swipe fees for them. Potentially positioning themself well even if the Discover+Captial one merger gives them a greater presence. (I am still worried about that one, as it does feel like Captial One is in the market of taking advantage of the same customers Discover sought to support.)
@@keresadministratum5008I love your idea but I will add to it. I would keep the 3X on everything and add gas, entertainment, cell phone and cable, and 2x on everything else if you have the gold or platinum
I regret focusing on Marriott when I used to travel a lot. I'm a lifetime PE (just missed out on the old TE b4 it was discontinued) but I really don't see any benefits at all anymore. I hear International is still worthwhile but we almost always vacation stateside these days so I don't see any real benefit. I'm having a hard time justifying my Marriott Amex Biz so if those prices go up without an adjustment to FNC I'll definitely cancel that Marriott card
Even with Marriott devaluation, its better value than DELTA and HILTON in my opinion. AMEX is having the "initial success" like STELLANTIS and NISSAN did when they cut cost by laying people off, sooner or later people will realize that points are devaluing beyond control and status doesn't mean that much and then they will atleast reduce number of cards they pay for or reduce spending drastically. Thanks for the video, also I wanted to ask if there is any update on that probe FTC did on loyalty programs ? Thanks
Nothing is better than a Hilton card used at a Hilton property.. Aspire is x34 Hilton points used at a higher end property and using 5th night free you can do better than 1 cent a point. So How Marriot is giving you better then 34 cents on the dollar is something I'm not aware of.
@@AskSebby Depends what device you are using, but on mobile (iOS), the video plays before all of the other information loads and as rest of the internet probably knows: long titles don't display on the card links, until you visit the video.
Since I travel by car in the United States only 2-3 weeks a year. The American Express Blue cash Preferred is my biggest spend card earning 6% on grocery stores and 3% on gas and public transit. If I were a world traveler and travel more than 3 weeks a year the other Amex cards would be considered. I also have the Capital One Savor card love that the 3% entrainment category covers theme parks. I spent $800 on a Universal Studios Orlando annual pass and $1400 on a Walt Disney World annual pass I earned 3% on those purchases and 3% dining in both parks; this made the spend on both parks a little less painful!!!
The fact that Entertainment is not a category for the platinum baffles me. For a travel card, it would be nice. As mentioned, I have the Savor just because it’s the best for entertainment. Would be nice for all points/cashback be in the same ecosystem
I have both green and gold. I’d love to see if they put 5x for transit or ride share which can incentivize ppl to take transit especially ppl living in highly congested cities. I’d also love to see if they add gas/ev charging as Amex doesn’t really have a card that earns on gas/ev charging.
I agree with the 2x on everything. I think it might benefit AMEX to offer either gas as a 3x or how about a $50 credit for their partners? $50 for Delta and $50 credit for Hilton to replace the $100 lounge buddy. I'm Resy and Uber exhausted from the AMEX Gold.
If only they would refresh it to a Charles Schwab Green. I feel that would still be a game changer, even with the 1.1 rate. They should refresh the Charles Schwab Platinum back to 1.25 to truly offer competitive choices between CS Green and CS Platinum.

Overall I just might secure the chase cards points to avoid the 5,24 rules and then pivot to Amex after the cap 1 set up. I’ll have access to the cap 1 x lounges. Might need to make a stop for the bilt card for rent eventually. But this should all take about 2-3 years.
Venture X is the best 😂
Ew, only $10 resy credit for the green? That would be an instant cancel
Ain’t no way fam, higher fees with the inflation around the world…now i know i’m outclassed lmao.
Sebby just go with the Hilton cards then.📦
Don't worry, I already have a lot of Hilton Aspire cards. :)
Another good video. 📦
Thanks! :)
No bonvoy biz changes?
I just want them to bring a card that has a bonus for gas stations that earns MR points!
I am still looking for the Amex Optio card 📦
Maybe one day!
@@AskSebby Or that elusive invitation to the grownup card.
I paid my annual fee already on the green Amex already it was 150. 📦
Great video! 📦
Thanks for watching! :)
If the maf mafs, get bof
📦
Green card - 3x travel, transit, gas CLEAR credit, 2 Amex lounge passes (ie excape, centurion, etc)
Brilliant change im not sure would happen, without major devaluation, but I am expecting a refresh of the Bonvoy Business
Bring back the ED as a 1.5x MR card
@@doctorcrayons lounges are already too crowded. No way would they offer any visits on the Green card.
OnePlus mentioned!
OnePlus for me. 😊
*I need RESY for Android*
They need to get rid of the little brother rule on all amex cards
Give your friend spending $1k/week on dates my number 😌✨ 😂 jk but i think the blue cash preferred should get a refresh. Since I dont have kids I never hit that $6k/year cap on groceries but some extra useful benefits would be nice considering the AF
The EveryDay was my first Amex card, too. I have had it for 16 years now, so I just keep it around. It also serves as a way to keep MR points if I were to get rid of the Amex Platinum (my only other Amex card) and leave the world of Platinum/Gold/Green cards.
Soo. No more Chase cards from now on?
🤷♂️ Can’t say much about it right now
@@AskSebby Understood, thanks! 🙏
1. Would love for the Green to replace my expensive gold
2. nope
3. I'd like to see the platinum get a look over. I don't love the walmart credits.
📦
📦My Platinum fee is coming up this February. As someone who travels and lives abroad frequently and for long periods of time I'm struggling to decide on renewing the Platinum or downgrading to the Green.
On one hand I can probably secure a discounted annual fee with the upcoming refresh but I really can't get any value from the Platinum so the Green seems like the best option with its multipliers and Clear credit. But I really don't want to lock myself in on a completely changed card with new coupons I can't use abroad.
Make the Green card have an all-spend 100X multiplier & I’m sold! 😂
Really trying to write off all that equipment i see
I hope they differentiate Green.
It wud be great if blue cash preferred didn’t have a 6k cap on groceries. 😢
I use my AAA advantage card with 5% on groceries after I max out my bcp limit but you're right if would be better especially with the annual fee
Amex Green should be 2x or 2.5x for all spends, which makes users to hold both green/gold or green/platinum
If the Plat gets refreshed, I hope they actualy put a spending category on it
lol🤣
Aspire is x34
Hilton points used at a higher end property and using 5th night free you can do better than 1 cent a point.
So How Marriot is giving you better then 34 cents on the dollar is something I'm not aware of.
Thanks for another great video! 📦
The Bonvoy Brilliants AF makes me SO thankful to have the Ritz Card
ehh - I hate clicking on these videos to see predictions when I actually get to the link
“My Predictions” is in the video title 😬
@@AskSebby Depends what device you are using, but on mobile (iOS), the video plays before all of the other information loads and as rest of the internet probably knows: long titles don't display on the card links, until you visit the video.
Anyway, the point is that it's in bad taste not putting that information forefront, like at the beginning of the title.
What?! No V neck?!! 🤯 haha jk crew neck looks good man! Thanks for the video 👍
Haha, thanks!
I have both green and gold. I’d love to see if they put 5x for transit or ride share which can incentivize ppl to take transit especially ppl living in highly congested cities. I’d also love to see if they add gas/ev charging as Amex doesn’t really have a card that earns on gas/ev charging.
📦
I agree with the 2x on everything. I think it might benefit AMEX to offer either gas as a 3x or how about a $50 credit for their partners? $50 for Delta and $50 credit for Hilton to replace the $100 lounge buddy. I'm Resy and Uber exhausted from the AMEX Gold.
Already paid my Amex Plat fee last week. If the fee increases and no useful credits, will switch back to Chase Reserve next year!
📦 📦 📦
I get the full benefit from my Amex Gold, I’d love a catch all card that isn’t a business card. I’d pay 39-49 annually for that from Amex.
If only they would refresh it to a Charles Schwab Green. I feel that would still be a game changer, even with the 1.1 rate. They should refresh the Charles Schwab Platinum back to 1.25 to truly offer competitive choices between CS Green and CS Platinum.
📦📦📦
the benifit for me on the BCE, is the gas, and online purhes
📦 if amex takes out dining, then it would be hella cool if it was 3x for gas stations which stays in line with travel
At work I'll watch this later #squuuuuuuad
🙌
if they did an uber credit and added something like a gas multiplier for the green card.. I'd be in on it!
New design for platinum
More limited edition designs! Lol.
@@AskSebby Please no…
Amex Plat should have a $999 annual fee. More room in the lounge for meee
They should add a Resy credit if this happens
Hopefully it'll be a semi-annual credit. Not really a fan of the small monthly Resy credits.
@@AskSebbyYeah, the $50 on the Gold (per use) is fine. I downgraded my Delta Plat to Gold after the $10 Resy and ride share credits. 📦
They need to throw on the Uber One Membership.... absurd that we have a monthly credit, and we have to buy the membership.
