I was honestly surprised when he decided to open his set with "Euphoria": given it's about six minutes in length and wondering if it would be too layered and demanding a listen to keep the crowd engaged. But I was definitely convinced after watching it and just underscores and magnifies how meticulously well thought-out this entire production was.
I think the ONLY Drake talking point that got under KDot's skin this entire feud............was that "Mr. Morale" didn't have lasting resonance with listeners. Now I personally really like that album and the vulnerability on full display, but it IS true that it's not a very accessible album and I question its replay value compared to his other releases............and I think KDot kind of admitted that by not featuring any songs from that record in his setlist. And it wasn't like "Mr. Morale" didn't have any club-crossover bangers. "N95" definitely would have popped there, as would "Silent Hill". But then again: it could be that he deliberately chose not to include those in his set not because he's disowning them or anything, but because he felt they weren't the best thematic fit for the evening. Which makes sense because "DNA", "Alright" and others felt like natural extensions thematically with "Euphoria".
Otherwise pretty much EVERY other Drake talking point was refuted or outright discredited then and there: from Whitney to Dave Free to KDot doing nothing for his city, etc.
I feel like a considerable part of DJ Akademiks really WANTS to break his allegiance with Drake...........but he's not yet at that place where he's like Darth Vader in "The Return Of The Jedi": where he's in pain seeing his own son on the verge of death being electrocuted by Sidious and finally finds it in himself to conclude "Enough is enough!" and retaliates against Sidious. Perhaps he just feels too comfortable and privileged being in Drake's inner-circle and is overly insecure about what crossing him would mean for his career moving forward and why he is soooooooo stubbornly contrarian as he is right now...........but I can tell there IS a considerable chunk of him that is regretting being too much a sycophant of Drake.

I think for Dk Akademiks, being a casual fan of Kendrick who has yet to go this hard for an actual album he’s ever released, but for a few diss songs and to be consistent, while his favorite artist Drake, who has been consistent and made good diss song’s himself is being shunned based on allegations never proven and almost by desperate Kendrick fans
I'm old asl and grew up in LA. Tupac made me fall in love with Hip Hop. When he died the city went dark. I moved out of LA 6 years later and never looked back. There was so much corruption, Rafael Perez in the LAPD , even Compton had to dismantle its own police department and let the Sheriff's take over. LA was a depressing place to live. So this is the first time in decades I wish I was in LA. Everyone vibing for different reasons, mine is just the love of seeing my city and county smile again. A lot of us waited a long time for this, and to see the new generation in the crowd like North West rock out is amazing!! I was dancing in my living room watching it live all the way in Indiana. Drake is not like us at all.
