- The Element Gatekeeper, what an excellent addition to the Element lineup! It is as close to a capra as anyone has come so far. The Performance is exactly what you would expect from Element, top shelf all the way.
I built this kit over the course of several days taking my time to replace all of the alloy screws with stainless, nothing makes me more crazy than rusty bolts hehe.
I installed a Hobbywing 1080, Reedy 3 Slot 16t motor and a Zoskay 35kg servo. On its first outing I put it through some pretty tough crawling in a spot I am very familiar with, it did amamzing. The rear sway bar is a little light so i went ahead afterward and installed a thicker bar to help give it a little more strength to calm down the twisting. Overall the build went smooth, instructions are very well laid out and clear. The hard plastic parts that come in the kit make for some sore hands but it is a welcome addition to the Gatekeeper kit.
I want to give a shout out to John Shultz for some tips on the build that made it go nice and smooth, and allowed this rig to perform as the level i expect from Element.
I am going to put it through a few test sessions to get it all tuned up and then its going to be a head to head with the Capra to see which one of these two beasts can top one another. As confident in my Capra as i am, i think the Gatekeeper is going to give it a run for its money!

The Hoage I clamp to my radio base, then screw the Smatree stick to it. That allows me to lower the camera down to truck level and get ground level shots. Shout out to Tony at CCxRC for this setup, it works awesome

Hi ,I’ve been into rock crawling for ten years, started with Axial AX-10 Skorpian comp crawler , has a welded steel cage chassis rig, uses the AX-10 axles and modified with on axle servo for steer, Hobbywing 1080 and using this rig on 2C LiPo
after 5 years, doing own maintenance decided to pickup the new Element Enduro Trailrunner, I’ve put easily a grand over last three yrs. finally graduated to 3C three months ago. Love it a lot more now since wheelie and use two motors for two power curves For higher bashworthy Traxxas Titan 550 17 turn-for bash option = 45 mph

Very Nice to meet you Denny! I am a big fan of the Enduro Platform myself, I now have 3 of them in different configurations the Gatekeeper being one of my favorites. I also have a scale setup with a LAnd Rover Hard body and my performance truck with a Proline Raptor body on it. I typically run 3s in all my rigs, I find the extra power to be very nice as well. Man that’s a nice looking rig. What size are the tires? I’m looking for some real 2.2 but every time I order they are 1.9 I need cheap ones still out of work and very little money until I get cleared to go back to work which I know now won’t be until after the new year. Man it sucks no money to even fix or upgrade, let alone buy a new or used rig, so happy everyone been making videos so that I can know what I want when I do get back on my feet. Great video brother 👍
Thank you so much Blackwolf Brother!!! These are 1.9 Landmines. I had the same issue with 2.2 tires. I ended up going to Amain and got Pit bull Rock Beasts. With Amazon i find that tires is a hit and miss, since they don't monitor their listings very close a lot of things are miss labeled. Hopefully all of this virus nonsense goes away and everyone can get back to a normal life.

So let’s be real... just how similar is this to a axial bomber? Because they look identical...
It looks similar but it is a different animal, this is more trail and crawling oriented than the Bomber. It is also much smaller than the Bomber so its a bit more nimble on the rocks. With the Overdrive built into the trans it is a great crawler right out of the box. The bomber takes quite a bit of upgrading to make it really great, this works pretty good right out of the box. Has anyone done a 4ws kit for this gatekeeper?
I have not seen one yet, with the trailing arms it is probably a little tricky. But man would that be sweet!! Thanks for the idea, I'm definitely going to start looking in to that!
