I finally saw Prism Bitch live in Albuquerque, so now I'm working backward to see Teresa's work with Built to Spill. She has a monster sound live-- you just have to be in the room with her! I was floored by their crazy fun show. Might be able to see them on a double bill in Flagstaff soon. I like this version of I Would Hurt a Fly. Thanks, Jim.
So excited to be seeing them in Madison WI in August. Been a fan for twenty years now, but didn't realize the lineup has changed. Maybe a backing track on live shows? No shame in it. ZZ Top has done it forever, and nobody complains.
I wish they would add one more guitarist to the set to fill out the sound. It could make a huge difference to the sound and experience. We love you Doug.
I need a minimum of three guitars in my live Built to Spill experience. This is just Doug earning the best living he can at this point (which, hey, a guy's gotta do what he's gotta do). Still, this rhythm section sounds better than the last one he was touring with. I felt that drummer was very plodding. Neither quite has Scott Plouf's energy or bounce.
@@johnpaulcyr175 Yeah, and good points. I looked the band up because they're playing in Ferndale at a venue I like but after watching some live videos have decided to pass. I have listened to some songs and like them, though. Just not my cup of tea for the live experience and all the costs it entails. It is kind of frustrating that it seems apparent they just need one more person and they'd be so much better live. As far as the drummer goes, yeah, I lived in Athens, GA and got to know a drummer named Jason Griffin. So, compared to him 'plodding' is an apt term but perhaps an unfair comparison given Jason's talent.
@@ELRaskonino you should have gone. this lineup is excellent and keeps getting tighter and tighter. I saw them in Philly and it was best BTS show I've seen in years. Doug looks super energized and watching him single-handedly attack these guitar parts is thrilling in person
Doug is inhuman, no idea how he plays with such a great feel to it. nice to see dude's still got the awkward nerdiness in him and is still going strong!
Thank you very much for posting this video I enjoyed it. I think it would have been more fun to close with the last track from the album with the black cat on it. I actually have three built to spill albums in my collection I just can't think of the name of the album right now.
Checking them out 'cause I'm seeing them open for Wilco coming up this weekend. Def have a Sonic Youth / Neil Young / Dinosaur Jr vibe going on. I'm happy they're not just another hipster Americana band that sounds like Avetts/ Mumford/ Lumineers, I'm really Done w/that whole Genre. This is grungy-er, dirty-er, jammy-er.
Thanks for doing what you do, Jim

Kicked It In The Sun, Else and Liar back-to-back is absolutely perfect. Thanks for posting.

I agree. Although, it's like they need lead more than rhythm as an addition...

The sound is forced and stale, now.

Love that they did a Cate Le Bon song. I can see why he would dig that song.
Doug is an absolute legend as far as I'm concerned. One of the greatest guitarists of his time.
Never heard this band until today. Gotta check them out.
BTS still at it an original artist, musical painters while keeping the groove, love it.
Watching new vids of new lineup. ... This is great thanks. About to buy tickets to a show coming up by me.
Thank you for sharing this! I’ll be watching them at the end of the month. It’s a dream come true
What a set list!
Great vid. Thanks. I love this lineup.
Keep It Like A Sectet ❤

Awesome upload thank you
I had to pleasure to be right up in front of Doug at a BTS show. Best show i ever went to. Id take Built to Spill in a mid sized club over a festival.
I did as well at Codfish hollow, going to be seeing them again end of May

@@drewbailey1885 inhuman in a good way! like, dude is so talented it's insane
I was there, I’ve seen em a few times before but this set list was truly A1 plus this new line up 😍

All-ages show. Bars were the best.
Great, but gimme some Mess with Time too!
The greatest guitarist and songwriter ever. But, live, there needs to be another guitar. Please.
When in France???
Nice show and lineup, but I miss a second guitar on live performances.

Was this the Sacramento show?
yes
This music seems very forgettable
Probably why they’re so popular and have been touring the world for the last 25 years.
Drummer lags
Underwhelming
