    Wow, his head stays almost completely still. I never knew that. That's seriously amazing.

      Very strong, very flexible… Very athletic!

    With all the aggressiveness in his swing, there is, absolutely, no "hit" in it. Just a smooth motion.

    He never was given much credit for his swing . But he may have been the longest of the long back than . I heard he did an exhibition match just outside of Chicago back in the mid 60’s. And he drove an up hill 320 par 4 with a driver

      Mr. Palmer was immensely strong and quick in his prime! Did you read my description? ⬆

    He is fast, not any different than the guys on tour nowadays, I'll catch some flack for that. Had he been using a modern day 460 cc driver with a new ball he probably would Carry 300 yards plus, strong dude.

      Good point, Troy! I don't think there's any question that Arnold could have carried it 300+ with modern equipment. Cheers!🙂

      Palmer brought in the sophisticated fans. Tiger brought in the unsophisticated hackers who thought they were at wrestlemania.

      @@skyflyr1015 ABSOLUTELY !!! In fact, Nicklaus was often booed, because Arnie's Army numbered in the millions. Arnold played with pure desire and courage. He was charismatic. He was always charging. Nicklaus was overweight and plodded along boringly slow on the course. Nicklaus may have a better record, but often he was cold, arrogant, and self centered. Palmer was warm to all the people. He was tough but giving. He really was a KING. ⛳

    Imagine winning The Masters every other year for 6 years. Inclusive of the first and last year 1958-1964. 👑

      Not only that, he could have easily won every Masters between 1958 and 1962, as he led on the back 9 of the final round in 1959 and led through the 71st hole in 1961.

    • @johnbuie966

      Could have easily won the '59 and '61 Masters to have made it 6 Masters in 7 years. Annie was great!

      He also lost in '59 by 2(triple bogey on #12 in last round) and '61 by 1(double bogey on final hole). Could have 5 Masters in a row and 6 of 7 between '58 and '64. Also lost in '66 by 2 with bogey on 18.

    Beautiful “flow” to this swing with the momentum of the complete backswing transferring smoothly into the transition. Not a bad swing to try to copy!!

    • @RollYourRock
      @RollYourRock  2 года назад

      But Arnie would tell you to "swing your own swing." I also know what you're sayin! 😉

      I wouldn't reccomend trying to copy the follow through unless you want sore wrists

    Palmer actually became a better ball striker when he dialed back the aggressiveness in the mid 1960s. That mindset helped his swing but hurt his putting, and hurt him in the Masters where aggressiveness is rewarded and that's why he didn't contend there after 1967. But it helped him in the US Open where he could have won the US Open 7 times between 1966 and 1975 (66,67,69,72 thru 75) if it wasn't for a balky putter.

    • @RollYourRock
      @RollYourRock  Год назад

      How do you think it hurt his putting? Do you think he lost his natural aggressiveness on the greens?

      I have a swing that probably looks like a slow motion car wreck, but when I am hitting the ball well (not near as often as I would like) I just remind myself that if I hit it in the grass that stays mowed, I am doing ok. @@RollYourRock
