The Ed Sullivan Show was a television variety program that aired on CBS from 1948-1971. For 23 years it aired every Sunday night and played host to the world's greatest talents. The Ed Sullivan Show is well known for bringing rock n' roll music to the forefront of American culture through acts like Elvis Presley, The Beatles, and The Rolling Stones. The entertainers each week ranged from comedians like Joan Rivers and Rodney Dangerfield, to Broadway stars Julie Andrews and Richard Burton, to pop singers such as Bobby Darin and Petula Clark. It also frequently featured stars of Motown such as The Supremes, The Temptations, Stevie Wonder and The Jackson 5. The Ed Sullivan Show was one of the only places on American television where such a wide variety of popular culture was showcased and its legacy lives on to this day.

Growing up in suburban NY in the 60's I got to see both Arnold and Eddie play golf at the "Westchester Classic" pro-am day at the Westchester Country Club. I was about 9 years old..and didn't recognize many of the other "celebrities" back then..but both Ed Sullivan and Johnny Mathis were members. I knew those faces.😎

This was not only fun, but interesting to watch. Something neat was how enthralled the audience was with Arnold. Thank you for sharing this.

My late brother caddied for Arnold Palmer in the mid 1960s at Pinehurst Country Club. Arnold paid him $100. That was a lot of money back then.

I was lucky enough to follow Arnold Palmer, and also play against him in some tour events. He was incredibly popular. No other golfer has ever been loved by millions around the world. He was a great man ! He was so great with people. ❤❤ Jack Nicklaus may have more victories, but only 20% of the popularity. Arnie was the man. Nicklaus was the slow, fat villain.

Agree - if you look closely you will see clues in the hair, glasses, ties that this is not a 1961 audience.

Ed is as bad an interviewer as the present day dumbo interviewers. He asked Arnie to explain the golf swing to the viewers. Less than halfway thru the explanation Ed interupts and starts talking about the right elbow being tucked. A very important aspect of the golf swing is the transition from the backswing to the downswing. Arnold never got to explain that because Ed interrupted. Some things never change.
