    Always informative and relaxing with Dave. I've no intention of ever doing this but just like watching the videos.
    As usual Dave get's the job done with ease as he has a myriad of adapters, drifts, tools etc. As a one off DIY operation it's just not worth it. I guess I could get 3 wheels done at the LBS before I covered the outlay on these essential pieces for this overhaul...

    not only the old version needs the special tool for the freewheel. I have a HU 1900 from march 2022, with the same hub DT 370 ratchet LN18 than the H1900, and just after 6500km I have some play inside, I need to change the bearings, one is rusty and the other one as a lateral play, and surprise, now that it is open, I need the special tool. Expensive, do not last more, and need a special tool...

      Hi, sounds like it needs a strip down and new parts where the existing ones are damaged, there is a great hub slit diagram from DT swiss with part numbers, if you let me know the part numbers you need I will post you some as long as your in the UK

    I don't understand why you are greasing the bearings when you put them back in? Is it to make it easier to slide in? I thought the idea was to make the inside of the bearing do all the sliding/rolling, and not the outside?

    • @TheYorkshireBikeMechanic
      @TheYorkshireBikeMechanic  4 месяца назад

      Hi, thanks for watching and your comments. the grease acts as an anti seize for future maintenance

    • @lukasbad5646
      @lukasbad5646 2 месяца назад

      "Why do you lubricate the outer part of the bearing?", wow, it's strange that you ask such a question, after the fact that every service manual mentions it, even logically speaking it is probably easier to reduce metal-to-metal friction when mounting the bearing by using grease , a bearing greased from the outside should theoretically be easier to fit into the hole.

    You didn't happen to measure the rotor side clearance from the end cap? 19mm? 15mm? Cheers!
    Hey Dave how does the XD FH driver hold up? I've worn out 3 HG bodies because the cassette chews the bejesus out of the splines 😉
