THANK YOU for this fantastic tutorial! I am currently doing a trial of Photo AI 3 prior to deciding whether to purchase, having already purchased Denoise, Sharpen and Gigapixel back in 2021. I can see all kinds of advantages to the latest version of Topazlabs after watching your careful educational video. So thank you again!
Your videos are helpful to me-thank you. I’m finding the LR, DxO, TZ AI 3 DeNoise-and-Sharpen results appear to vary randomly with each photo (from the same shoots)-to a point where I have yet to identify a consistent anomaly in either my editing process or the file itself, or if the lenses cause this extensive variation. (Apart from results that look definitely-AI versus a more Natural look). I’ve been experimenting with these three for c. one month. I have to submit files to press mid-event or within minutes to an hour after events. Therefore, my published work in the last month varies a lot-thankfully my communications team is patient. I’m hoping to determine which one is the most effective, time-efficient, and overall contributes to consistent excellence, consistent flow (for my needs). I’m grateful multiple professional options that fuel this conversation do exist.
I am somewhat befuddled about what image shows up in AI after I do cropping in LRcc, I crop in LR but the entire image shows up in AI. In watching your excellent presentation that does not seem to be true. Also if I crop in AI. does only that part of the image get update by Ai? I obviously have not been using AI to its fullest. Your video opened my eyes. Thanks, Dale
Love your video - it was very helpful as I consider this product. Hoping you can help me with a question - I use Lightroom which allows me to send photos to the cloud so I can edit on my IPad Pro. Can I send photos to Topaz as a stand-alone from the cloud or do I need to use a different method to get them into Topaz Photo ai. Thank you for help.
Hello! Thank you for this viedo. I use ACR and PS and use a Nikon D850.I previously used Sharpen AI and loved it, it was super easy. I noticed that this Photo Ai is exporintg my images back to PS and they are desaturated. SO upsetting! I was looking for you documents for instruction on how to set up color space etc. for PS but could not find it. Would you be able to help?
First, this is one of the best videos on an editing product I have seen. I Subscribed and Liked. Comments: You didn't show how how you masked the tail against the sky. I'm writing as I go through the video so I don't forget anything.
Thank you Chris, for the "deep dive." I applied the updates from 2.4 to take me to 3.0 and your explanations have saved me hours of time stumbling around and doing "trial and error" knowledge building about this newest version. As always, the granularity of your analysis had saved me a ton of time with this really neat software tool. This is one I'll watch more than once...and probably take some notes to create some shortcuts in my workflow. Loving your pictures from the trip to the Western U.S. btw.
I thought I heard that you should do the noise, sharpening, and upscaling with all their settings, then save back to LRC and do every thing associated there. There was something about if you do settings in LRC and open in Photo AI, it doesn't retain the settings from LRC.
Great video. It's been quite helpful in getting up to speed with Photo AI 3. I have a question, though. While I saw you being able to insert specific dimension values for upscaling, I am unable to do it. Might the problem be that I am using Photo AI 3 as a plugin for Photoshop, rather than using it as a stand-alone app? Again, thanks for the terrific video!
@@ParkerPhotographic Thanks much for the heads-up, Chris! I'll download that update right away. BTW, I was able to insert specific dimension values for upscaling when I ran TPA3 in stand-alone mode. Cheers!
My preferred editing workflow is to do all my edits in lightroom before sending to TPAI. However, I strongly recommend turning off all denoise options in lightroom first! Otherwise you'll "double-dip" if that makes sense.
Thanks for this tutorial. Very clear and thorough. I had been using a much lower version of Topaz's photo AI (2) and now have the latest 3.0.4 which is a major step jump. I have tried editing several photos from landscape to flowers but each time I save back to LRc the dng file is much darker and the colours are more saturated (and I did not adjust any of that in Topaz). I did not have that issue with previous versions of Topaz. What am I doing wrong?
@@CallumStewart-th7fk with each update the seem to to introduce new bugs. I think they fixed some color issues with the latest version 3.2. Try it to see if it fixes it for you. If not you can downgrade to the last version that worked for you.
Great great video ... nice presentation. I am having trouble replicating the batch process you mention. I use LRc and highlight let's say three or four images and then invoke the plugin Topaz Photo Ai ... and .. only one photo shows up. What am I doing wrong??? To be clear, I would like to know how to import all my images from LRc to Topaz Photo AI (let Photo AI do its magic) and then have ALL the images come back into LRc (instead of doing this process one image at a time)
Hi @DanielCharnitsky, If you're selecting all the images, and activating Topaz by: right-clicking and selecting "Edit in" > "Topaz Photo AI" and only one image opens... it might be a bug. I can't replicate the problem. Report Topaz bugs here: community.topazlabs.com/t/how-to-report-a-bug-for-photo-ai/39364
Hi Chris, when in manual mode in canon d800, when turning exposure compensation wheel, will it always adjust shutter speed rather than aperture to align at zero, and why like that if i am correct?
Nice video. Great!! Q. When I in LR right click on a RAW-file foto to start processing in Topaz Photo AI, it exports it back to LR as a TIF.file. I checked it in "Preferences", and there it says: "Exports as DNG". But that doesn't do it at this way (right click on photo). Do you know how to change that? As I open the RAW-file in LR by using "File>Plug-in extra's>Topaz AI" it works well and its exports back to LR as a DNG.
very detailed tutorial thanks , but I am running version 3.04 of PhotoAI but do not get the same masking options as you show in the video , when I clicke selection it just shows me what it thinks is the subject and hence I cannot apply different degrees of denoise /sharpening to specific parts of my iamges as you show in the video , what am I doing wrong ?
Loved you video! Did you say that the masking option is only available on a MAC? I use Windows so does that mean I can't mask? I wasn't sure after watching your video. Thanks!
When I import a Raw file (from LR), automatically the Denoise RAW panel pops up (left of the bigger general panel) . Is it possible to disable that auto pop-up? Starting only with the general bigger right panel? Thanx
Is all this AI happening on your local machine after the download or is it accessing their servers? How hardware intensive is the application... meaning how much power do you need? It looks like from what you did upscalling it has a mini version of Giga Pixel. This was a very thorough review... I watched from end to end. I want this but to be honest not sure how much I would use it because I shoot raw when intentionally taking images... but mostly shoot with my phone because I always have it. Liked

Excellent video. You taught an old dog some new tricks. I have used all the denoise and sharpening stuff out there, and after much testing, I found the Topaz Suite to be the best. Photo AI is amazing. Sometimes though, I use the old Denoise AI only, and it works for some photos. I also sometimes use the Sharpening AI for some photos too. But all in all, the new Photo AI is a really neat app. I have also just started rearranging the enhancements (denoise, sharpen) and indeed it does make a difference. Thank you especially about the saving presets, what a time saver!!! My bird photos that have been run through Photo AI can be seen on Flickr with the same name as my RUclips channel. I use Olympus cameras, and have been using higher ISO's due to photo AI. Cheers!

1. Thank you for the very clear explanation! 2. There is a problem with the audio. I only hear you from the left audio channel. Is this a bug in my RUclips, or on your end? 3. Unfortunately, Topaz Photo AI seems to suffer from the same issue that most AI renders have; they make eyes looks very unnatural. I used a trial version about half a year ago, but since I mostly shoot photos with faces (primarily my children), I was disappointed by the fact they ruined my kids' eyes.
