    Great video! Got my mower running that I got from a friend. He put a new carburetor on it and put the plate in backwards. This video saved me from tearing the motor out thinking the governor was shot!

    Good catch, 👍👍. That’s why always take pictures of stuff before I take it apart, saves a lot of aggravation, lol.

    Yes sir. Great video my friend. Careful visual inspection will save time and headaches. Those plastic intakes with a two barrel carb. are bad about warping and sucking air also, causing a surge.

    First time I came across those E-torx I had a 12 point socket that worked. A year or so later I realized what they actually were and got a set of E-torx sockets. When you need them you'll be glad you have them.

    That is super common, it's funnier when it's the governor though, because the throttle will be absolutely through the roof in some cases where the governor fails or is disabled.

    Just put on a B&S carb. The eyebrows are in the right way,(looked at old one when I was assembling new one). Still running wide open? It might be the throttle rod ,had to bend it when I was taking things apart. You are right about eyebrows plate though. I tried mine before putting it back on my mower. Good video.

    When i first started working on small engines if i wasn't sure about something i would ask my dad and i would always pay attention to how it comes apart and made sure i had the right tools

    Can you help me sir? I did a 1st time repair on an old Yard machines mower with a briggs and stratton Engine. I don't know much about repairs except for what I see on youtube. I replaced the carburetor and forgot to connect the carb lever to the governor lever. I didn't want to remove the carb again so I figured it would be easier to just remove the governor lever instead. I had no Idea that the post where the governor lever connects to, also connects to inside the engine. I didn't know what I was doing but then I figured I messed up because I could turn the governor post left and right with my fingers and I didn't know how to set it like it was previously to me messing with it.
    I saw some videos on here about how to reset the governor lever and I think I set it up the right way except when I finally turned on the engine it seems to be reving high and I don't know if it's because I didn't set the lever correctly, or if it has something to do with the carburetor?

    Briggs and Stratton Intek V twin
    Hi, Had a bad misfire, replaced carburettor. Engine now revs very high. Took engine out replaced with a new governor, did not look damaged at all. Adjusted governor to carb as per instructions.
    Still revs high. Noticed the Governor arm does not seem to move througout the rev range. Any ideas? Thanks

    I may be mistaken, but I believe a 4mm socket is the same size for those ends requiring an inverted torx. But, I could be deranged.

    Many people have no business trying to fix stuff. I may sound harsh but i deal with this at work to much. Like i tell the boss people think small engine repair is easy but cars,appliances require a pro not to be attempted at home.

      Better atomization and directs the air fuel
      Mix up into the manifold per Briggs. I’ve left them out and I can’t tell a difference

      @themowermedic1 if the eyebrows are installed on the other side of the carb does that cause high rpm?

    • @robruiz1429
      @robruiz1429 3 месяца назад

      @@JayTalyai Yes, because it doesn't allow the flaps to close completely. That's what the owner of this mower did when replacing the carb. I just swapped out my faulty carb with a new one and it's racing, can't get it to come down. It's installed correctly with no air leaks, a bit of a head scratcher. Let us know if you find out what your problem was.

    • @JayTalyai
      @JayTalyai 3 месяца назад

      After watching this video I installed it correctly and was still racing at high rpm. Took it to my indie and he said it’s internal therefore is the governor. I have a John Deere la135 with a Briggs vtwin 22hp. Once I get it back with the new governor it should run smoothly because the governor controls the idle

    • @JayTalyai
      @JayTalyai 3 месяца назад

      @robruiz1429 I’m also not positive on this but if you replace the carb and don’t set the governor properly before starting your mower, it could make the governor break on the inside, that’s what I’m thinking. So a simple job can turn into a nightmare with a simple mistake
