    One of the main advantages of a palm grip is it allows you to grip very tightly without putting actual force in, meaning the mouse will stay in your hand at pretty much any speed. When I was fingertipping i found i had to grip really tightly to stop the mouse from "sliding" out of my fingers when flicking quickly, which was really fustrating and made me cramp my fingers a lot.
    Claw is the most popular for the reason of it being pretty much half half. Realistically it doesn't make a huge difference, I switch grips mid training or mid round sometimes; although I absolutely do not recommend switching constantly.

      @WestProter  3 года назад

      When I talked about switching I meant like either between games or if you had to switch from entry to support or something. Nothing huge. As for the fingertip slipping out of your hand, how light was the mouse itself and what was the mousepad? I'm doing research on Beaulo right now, and from what I've seen he uses a fingertip grip, so I'm developing a theory that fingertip grip can work but it's consistency and the sliding issues you had are directly related to friction between the mouse and mousepad. Less friction should mean less inconsistency. More on that in a future video.

      @@WestProter At the time I was using this awful 120g razer mamba on a medium speed "hybrid" pad. On my current 61 viper mini and aqua control plus I can fingertip again, but my aiming style is really really violent and sharp so It's a bit hard to adapt to.
      From my experience It seems fingertip allows for extra precision in use of your fingers, but limits raw "tightness" of the grip. That appears to be why many aim training grinders end up going claw, just so they can achieve maximun speed when repeatedly flicking.
      Personally my pad is medium speed by maximum control, with zero static friction. Accelerating your mouse should have the least amount of friction possible, but the force requried to keep it moving appears to be preference. For a game like quake, glass mouse pads are fairly popular, whereas the current WR for 1w6ts is nearly 200 lower on glass than it is on a standard pad.

      @@Paytrolah Good to know. This supports everything I've found so far. Fingertip grip seems to be one of the main things from my research that makes Beaulo's aim work the way it does. I actually made this video because I didn't want to go on a rant about fingertip grip in my upcoming analysis of Beaulo's aim video.

      @@WestProter Honestly I've never been convinced beaulo is as good as people seem to believe. People like muzi or merc have always been nuttier, and even lesser known players like fishoguy or godlegion in my region have the raw mechanical advantage over him. Beaulo has the advantage of a crazy reaction time and absolutely insane positioning and gamesense.

      @@Paytrolah It's part of a series. More pros are coming. I'm trying to find a bunch of correlations between things like roles, games, and other factors compared to things like sens, grip, posture, etc. Figured it'd be fun to start out with a big name. I was already planning on doing merc, and I'll definitely look into the rest of them.

    Ah, I have been using fingertip grip since I started ( not a long time ) idk, just felt natural to have more flexibility with the fingers, I agree with your assessment though, I barely use the mouse buttons. Should I try other grips for games focus more on tracking? Will that help in my overall aiming portfolio?

    • @WestProter
      @WestProter  3 года назад +2

      Became an exclusive finger tip player about a month after this. Basically, people have gotten pretty far with palm, it doesn't require much finger control, if you go pro without developing your fingers no point in learning. However, finger motion is huge in aiming. As for the mouse buttons being unusable it's not a huge issue. I've since found fingertip is fine for tracking, it's just harder to track with early on. For example palm keeps your hand steady which helps new players with tracking. If you have steady fingers (which a fingertip grip main would) you really won't experience many of the draw backs of finger tip grip that I mentioned in the video. I don't think any of the info in this video is necessarily false, but if I were to remake this, it'd be a much better guide that explained the grips much more in depth. I'd say fingertip is probably the universal best grip, and it is good for pretty much everything it just requires more skill development, and in that development process, palm grip will provide greater tracking abilities, but after you become acclimated, you'll find that fingertip grip provides a ton of control for tracking training. Fingertip grip is also good for better for flicking universally, because of the ability to make better lines and micro adjust. You have to keep in mind that my youtube channel has really been a learning experience for me, and as I've researched more and made more content I've found more information. If this video were to be remade today it'd probably be scripted more like this comment than how it actually was scripted.

      @@WestProter Ah I see, seems like what felt natural to me was indeed a pretty good choice. I haven't played super tracking heavy games and thus never really tried palm grip. I have used claw grip for a while in apex but reverted back to fingertip. I do have decently steady fingers and thus the only drawback I have actually experienced is not being able to effectively use mice button but it isn't that much of an issue for me. Thanks for the reply, I think I will stick with the fingertip grip since it feels quite comfortable to me and doesn't necessarily hold me back in the games I currently play, Maybe I will revisit the idea of trying a different grip If I play some tracking intensive game. :)

    • @WestProter
      @WestProter  3 года назад +1

      @@Warrior25 I wouldn’t revisit the idea. Once you actually get good at fingertip I’ve found it can be better for tracking. Palm just allows for a steady hand so it feels better for tracking early on
