When her album Entre a mi Mundo was released in 1992 (the album with Como la Flor) her demand in the Latin market (including Mexico) made her an international star...which led EMI to tell her she was ready to crossover. But then they decided to wait. When a label decides to promote an artist, especially one they want to become a superstar, they spend millions on this endeavor. As such, they take their time. That's why they kept holding off on her crossover album. Finally, when she won the Grammy in 1994 (for her 1993 Live album) then released her Amor Prohibido album a couple months later...which flew off the store shelves, EMI knew it was time to record. The problem was, by this point, her popularity was through the roof. She was nonstop touring in 1994...playing mostly stadiums and bigger venues. Because of this, they had to record the album very slowly, because she was all over the place. They also had her working on side projects, doing product placement, commercials, appearances, etc...just because she was getting so famous that they wanted to keep that momentum going. Her English album was obviously a very expensive endeavor for the label, which goes to show not only how serious they were about giving her the best chance at becoming a superstar, but because they only like to bet on a sure thing, how certain they were that she was the star that was going to make them ridiculous amounts of $$$. They'd given her the best songwriters and producers, people who'd been producing the biggest pop divas at the time (Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston, Vanessa Williams, Amy Grant, etc.) So this was the sound and direction they saw for her artistry. They were also planning her crossover tour for 1995, where she'd not only be touring the biggest cities of the US, but Europe and Japan as well. Obviously she never got to see this happen. But this is why it took so long for her to get to the point she could record her English album...and why she only got like 4 songs recorded for it. Oh! Almost forgot. Because she and her family wanted to cater to their Spanish-speaking fans, because in her words, they were the ones that "made her" and she didn't want to turn her back on them...she was also recording another Spanish album at the same time as her English album. The two were to be released around the same time...so her label literally saw her as a cash cow (not a derogatory term...it simply means something that has endless earning potential) because she'd also be touring for this album as well in 95. Between her clothing line and boutiques (which were very successful) the new boutiques and factory she was opening in Mexico, her perfume and makeup line that she was in development for, her crazy tour schedule, recording two albums at the same time, doing commercials, interviews, and promotions...it's crazy she had any time to even catch her breath. I hope the second season of the series shows this. You see in her later 1994 and 1995 interviews that she constantly mentions how tired she is. Who wouldn't be. That, combined with the issues she started having with Yolanda, and it really gives you a better sense of what life is really like for someone who's becoming a mega star.

Yes you are right tejano means someone that is from texan and tejana is for women being texan . The word if i am not mistaken it's an Indian word meaning friendly people Tejas because we and her including myself we are mexican american of mexican ancestry and american nationality . Being mexican or like Mexico is definitely Indian. We as MexicanAmerican = Chicano and proud of it. We can do it all when it comes to music tejano music is a blend if lots of different genres like Bruce Lee's Jeet Kung Do a blend of all martial arts I too am proud to be TexMex American = Chicano♥️🇺🇲

The ones who complain about the series are casual fans who know nothing about her. Leave the casting out of it. The series gives you so much more details and the different phases of life she went trough growing from a teen into a young women. They even show you how Pete came into the picture and he is the Los dinos secret weapon he wrote their biggest hits.. I just hated how they gave these mexican american kids accents and they didn't even know spanish growing up. Mexicans don't understand or know anything about tejano culture so I understand how they couldn't relate. Most people don't even recognize the difference looking from the outside
