Met the Quintanillas as youngsters when I was a salesman @ Omega music store in McAllen Texas, Selena was probably about 10, Suzette & AB. They visited with their dad Mr Quintanilla. They were very respectful. Only saw them a couple of times & knew they had a lot of heart & drive to make it, which they did as this concert attests. When I heard this cd I knew they had made it. Took them about 13 years to win the Grammy🙏🏽🌞😎🕶️👓👍🏽🎧🎙️🎤🎛️🎚️🎸🎹🥁

What I think is so cool and this might sound weird. Selena is right up there with Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, Beyonce and all the other legendary singers. She started out in just Texas. Yes, she branched out and traveled to Mexico and all over the western United States (tour). She did a lot of her tours in Texas and who ever got to go to her concerts are so so lucky! I would like to think the Texans kept something special as long as they could. She was true to her roots and her fans adored her. She is a true legend! :)

One of many lucky Tejanas. I saw her in downtown San Antonio back in the early 90s. We had just returned from Frankfurt, Germany after being stationed there for four years so this was really new. We were behind on what was popular in the states. My grandma would record and send us tapes of episodes of “In Living Color” lol - if that shows how distant and unfamiliar we were with what was going on in the U.S. The music was candy to my ears. Growing up, I liked their cumbias and pop songs more than the traditional sounding Tejano songs. Now as an older adult, I appreciate the Tejano songs. Actually pretty proud of them.
I hate saying this, but Beyoncé is nowhere near Mariah or Whitney. Selena was definitely on the same levels of Whitney and Mariah, but her life being cut in short couldn’t prove that.

Deja te explico mi experiencia...cuando la escuche por primera vez yo tenia como 18 años eran inicios de los 90s....a mi no me gustaba ese tipo de musica pues en aquellos años estaba el rap en pleno apogeo.....un dia la escuche en el radio y me llamo la atencion...despues al poco tiempo pasaron un concierto en la televicion y guauuuu....kede enamorado de ellla...era tan hermosa...y cantaba hermoso...bailaba tan bien y te atrapaba y no podias dejar de ver el concierto...y pues hasta hoy sigue siendo la numero uno..la mejor...para mi y para muchisisima gente en el mundo....
