    I have the original Duet and recommend it all the time. Still do. This new one is looking very promising! For just a little bit more money you sure get some great improvements here. Alone the bigger screen (but not too big), better wider keyboard and a new processor are more than enough to justify the price. Plus some other improvements like the speakers and an extra usb-c port, nice! Good job Lenovo

    Not only that, Lenovo actually listened. A lot of people loved the original Duet, a lot of them want the screen to be bigger somewhere around 11-inches. I think I remember you said it yourself during the Duet review back in 2020. They finally did it, along with a solid spec sheet. I can see this being successful too.

    Wow! I have the original Duet and I could never get used to the cramped keyboard or the fact that it had just one USB -C port; but I loved the tablet itself. I just purchased the Duet 5 on sale and absolutely love it (because of your review). I think the Duet 3 is a great improvement on the original Duet! Lenovo is knocking it out of the park!

    I have the original duet and the 3 seems to have fixed most issues. Biggest for me was the processor/ram, as switching apps in tablet mode is very slow and buggy. So faster processor, 16:10 screen aspect ratio, slimmer and lighter stand, better keyboard and magnetics makes this a great upgrade. Only wish the stand was built in....

    I fight myself a long time and just got the original duet last week, an open box option from bestbuy at 150(!). I love it very much. And now the duet 3. It looks really nice. However I am sticking to this one now. I enjoy 10 inch screen and the price I paid is great for the quality. It is unbeatable. Sent from Duet.

    Yes! This is _exactly_ what I was hoping we'd get as a follow up to the original Duet--although I'm surprised by the 2K display. And Lenovo claims the Duet 3 screen is 5:3, not 16:10.

    • @RobbyPayne
      @RobbyPayne 2 года назад +4

    I literally just got the original Duet a few weeks ago (after watching your videos on it!). It's my first Chromebook, and tbh I was really sceptical about making the switch from Windows to Chrome OS. I really shouldn't have worried - Chrome OS serves *nearly* all my needs, although I really do wish there was a full, native version of MS Word available for Chrome OS - the online version from MS, Google Docs, and the Android version - which I've side-loaded, as well as various Linux options - simply don't do the trick). I am absolutely loving the little Duet though, and for when I do need a solid word processor, I still have my work laptop running Windows. The Duet has now replaced my old personal Windows laptop though. If there was one thing I would *improve* on with the Duet, it's definitely the single USB C port, which I see has been addressed in the Duet 3.

  • @sslaia

    I have watched this video a few times now, and can't wait until it's available in May. In my opinion a chromebook tablet is the better android tablet. Why? Not only because a chrome tablet also runs Android apps, but because a chromebook will get software update support for 8-9 years. An Android tablet has only one year software support or two if any (just take the Lenovo's android tablets as an example). On top of that a Chromebook can be use as an emergency desktop PC, while an Android tablet not suitable at all in desktop mode. Therefore from now on I'd recommend a chrome tablet and not an Android tablet anymore.

    Larger and more expensive is not what I would have wanted. I would have gone for smaller like 8" with all these improvements. I'd buy that in a heart beat. I bought the original Chromebook Duet just to try to Chromebook tablet experience and it was a very positive experience, but because of that I have 1 large tablet and as far as I am concerned that is 1 large tablet too many. I won't buy any other non compact tablets period. If this was the first Chromebook Duet I would have paid the $400 for it, it seems like a reasonable price, but I'm just not a larget tablet kind of person. My dream tablet is still a compact Chrome OS tablet with decent performance and 8GB RAM; something roughly the size of the iPad Mini 6.

    Best new feature is the upgraded processor and 8gb ram now its actually something to consider. I love the original duet but the 4gb of ram was useless almost unusable with constant crashing apps. This is definately not for gaming but its perfect for the cloud with xbox gamepass i spent a lot of time playing with it while i was looking for a new laptop at best buy and ultimately ended up going for the Lenovo Yoga 6 2-n-1 which came loaded with a ryzen 5 from amd, 13in oled display and touchscreen which looks fantastic. once i have some more funds on the side i wouldnt mind picking up this chromebook as an expendable toy and im sure alot of people doing coding projects will also enjoy this product but im just a casual gamer and consumer so xbox cloud, youtube, etc is my cup of tea. also i have my lenovo legion for the heavy lifting. all in all great 2-n-1 device. the magnetic cover for the duet is also pretty cool too.

    This looks an interesting upgrade.
    But with the price of the original Duet now readily available around the £200 mark, is the Duet 3 improvements enough to justify DOUBLE the price?
    Anyway, looking forward to your more comprehensive review... 👍

I usually take it iff when i have it in my notebook sleeve so as not to scratch the screen/tempered glass protector or even the keyboard keys getting scratched up

    Amazing that Lenovo can make 11" high-res tablets, 11" high-res convertibles, but not an 11" high-res Chrome laptop. 11" Chromebooks seem to equal "low-res kid frisbee" and I'd like something nicer!

    I was considering buying the duet 5 but since I've never used a Chrome OS device, I tried Chrome OS Flex on a laptop I have (i7-8500U, so plenty of power) and it wasn't bad but I couldn't get an .mp4 file with h265 codec to run properly! Basically I'd using for traveling and watching movies is pretty important to me. But if it can't play h265 efficiently, probably I'll pass...

    • @adamkennard8489
      @adamkennard8489 2 года назад +1

      I would still give Chrome OS a go - the major difference to Flex being that full Chrome OS has the Android Play Store, meaning you can get the VLC player, which will play pretty much anything you throw at it.

    • @javiTests
      @javiTests 2 года назад

      @@adamkennard8489 Thank you! Yes, that's what I thought but I think if the "app" was native it should be more efficient, right? I don't know how it runs Android apps, if it's through an emulator or what, although the duet 5 being an ARM processor should be better in that sense than if it was an x86.

    • @adamkennard8489
      @adamkennard8489 2 года назад +1

      @@javiTests as far as I know it's native support for Android, and not some sort of emulator. Similar for Linux (although enabling Linux support does require you partition off part of your HD). Everything runs fine for me on my Duet :-)

    • @javiTests
      @javiTests 2 года назад +1

      @@adamkennard8489 Well, most android apps are designed to run on ARM and they run in a container on Chrome OS. So for x86 chromebooks there must be some kind of instruction translation from ARM to x86 but since the duets have an ARM processor it should be fine I guess. Thank you!
