    Apparently they have released an 8GB model since I recorded this, and it MAY come with the stylus too! It's on sale for just over $300, and the 4GB model is on sale for $199. You can find them on Lenovos website here: howl.me/ciDdT2e7G0P

    I got the 8GB version over the holidays for just under $300, it came with the stylus too! So far it does everything I wanted it to, web browsing, video stream, reading but I love being able to use the desktop version of chrome for certain websites or document and spreadsheet viewing for minor work.

      Reading some reviews on Currys, someone mentioned it comes with Android 9. Is it true? Sounds a bit daft, so not sure I believe it. Wait it uses ChromeOS, so does it have like an Android VM for running Android apps?

      Awesome. Happy to hear it. There's not a lot of chrome os tablets out there, so you won't see too many of those videos. But I would expect some of them will come soon. I heard some new devices are dropping in the next few months. But I talk a lot about Android tablets and a lot about various smartphones out there. Hope you enjoy it. Feel free to drop any questions. We always see a lot of Windows tablets but very few ChromeOS tablet, so it's great to see Lenovo made one. But because of ARM chipset, I can install Andronix on Android smartphones. So despite me liking this tablet a lot, I'm still struggling about the idea of buying one.

    • @FAT8893
      @FAT8893 Год назад

      I also use Andronix, but you do want to consider ChromeOS, even with ARM chipset, because of hardware GPU acceleration. That is something Andronix can never do until Termux gives such a capability.
      P.S. If you do care about GNU Linux more than Android, I suggest to stay with x86 as it has wider desktop software support compared to ARM.

    5 months later, my thoughts: I absolutely love it! It's surprisingly super fast, I use it for browsing, college (with a stylus for drawings). The keyboard, although it takes a bit to get used to at first because it's small, is super fast! This takes me back to a Dell I had that was Tablet/Windows but that one had hard, fixed connections from screen to keyboard and it snapped/broke off. That's the smart thing about this Lenovo that the connection is a fabric that can bend, so if it snaps off accidentally it won't break and the magnets are strong where it aligns them up for you automatically. I play some games on it every now and then and it does well with that too. The stand that it comes with is so convenient. The screen is daunting and crystal clear! I'd say the only thing I didn't like is that there is only USB-C connections, no audio headphone jack but this thing is a force. My family also but same exact one and they love it too.

      Bro! It's you! Yeah I personally love the Duet 3. I get annoyed with the touch keyboard blinking on Twitter in tablet mode. But it gives me more versatility then a normal tab. I love running full versions of Chrome and extensions and still using Android apps. Plus Chromebooks can get phone notifications and easily use your phone hotspot (you can turn your phone hotspot on directly from the Chromebook).

    • @AndroidDigest
      @AndroidDigest  2 года назад +2

      Thank you so much! Maybe I'll be able to do a video on that topic one day, I always have like four or five videos planned out beforehand. And my schedule is pretty stacked right now.
      I'll just share some information here with you though. I think Samsung Dex is good enough for those people who sometimes need a laptop like environment on their tablets. But it's still not as good as Chrome OS in my opinion. It doesn't have a full desktop version of Chrome, and even if you put the mobile version of Chrome in desktop mode I still think you're missing out on some things.
      You also don't get full web extensions with Chrome because that's only a desktop version thing. And there are some minor things, minor bugs or things I noticed in DeX.
      On the other end I think Chrome OS still has some bugs with Android, even if few. And they have some bugs with the touch screen keyboard. There also aren't any 120hz tablets on Chrome OS or any super powerful tablets. BUT Chrome OS tablets are typically a better value because they come with the kickstand and keyboard. So a lot of pros and cons back and forth. I think the more versatile and more budget friendly devices are on Chrome OS and the best tablets and most premium are still on Android.

      @@AndroidDigest Yes, I learned these from your videos as well. I have s8+, after watching tons of videos from your channel, and I love it. However, also very interested in Chromebook. Not sure how the multiple windows experience in Chromebook looks like. And, the bug you mentioned after pressing the space key on Chromebook looks annoyed indeed, and the quality of back-stand and keyboard with Chromebook doesn't look good, which also concerns me as well.
      Anyway, really love your videos, especially the content/analysis, the speed that you present, etc. Good job!

    Quick tip: If you want to get the best battery life out of any Chromebook including the Duet 3, turn off Android apps, turn on energy saver in Chrome settings, and turn off bluetooth.

      It's really really tough to say. These are two completely different devices we are talking about. I think the duet 3 is more versatile. I think the screen is better on the duet 3. But it's also a little bit buggier at times. And it won't work quite as good with Android apps. But you don't really need a lot of Android apps either especially with so many good web apps anyway. It also depends on if you want to stylus or not because the stylus does come with the Galaxy Tab. But on the other end you will get more software support from the duet. Both devices are great and it really just depends on your use case. I lean towards the duet, slightly, because I personally value the keyboard a little more and I value the versatility that I can find in a Chromebook

    • @AndroidDigest
      @AndroidDigest  2 года назад +1

      That's a good point! I do think the performance would improve especially when going between apps. Honestly I already like the Lenovo a little better because of the keyboard so I think the Lenovo would win it for me. The HP comes with a pen and comes with an SD card slot so some people would prefer it. Plus it has a fingerprint sensor. But at least the extra ram brings the Lenovo right up next to it.
      Even in my comparison videos though I don't like to declare a winner because I know one person will prefer the pen and the SD card slot. Everyone's different so I just try to give all the information to let people make their own decisions. But yeah if I was picking one today I would definitely pick the Lenovo. The keyboard is so much better in my opinion than the HP keyboard and that makes a massive difference

    • @AndroidDigest
      @AndroidDigest  9 месяцев назад +1

      Yes it can connect to two monitors.
      I don't think it makes it significant difference personally whether you turn it off or not. It may help your battery a little bit in the long run because your device won't have to be charged. Even when it's sleeping and they use a small amount of power and get charged but I don't think it's very significant.
      I think the bigger thing that wears a battery down in the long run is actually being at 100% all the time. Or being at 0%. That's why this ship battery used to you around 50%. Batteries can wear down from being charged a lot. But they can also wear down from sitting at 0% or 100%. That's why I've seen batteries sit on a shelf for 3 years and end up expanding.
      I'm not saying I would worry about leaving it plugged in. But if you don't plan to take it on the go much at all, that's what I would honestly look into a Chromebox. They are mini Chromebook desktops that don't have batteries and you wouldn't have to worry about any of that stuff.
      As far as multiple displays, yes, you can do two monitors with this no problem. Once you get them connected you will have to mess with the settings though to make
      sure they just don't mirror the
      same thing

    the CPU is just a bit faster, and makes all the difference,,
    Look at the case as a Lifeboat,,
    ... get a BLUETOOTH keyboard / mouse & speaker for day to day use

    Reading some reviews on Currys, someone mentioned it comes with Android 9. Is it true? Sounds a bit daft, so not sure I believe it. Wait it uses ChromeOS, so does it have like an Android VM for running Android apps?

    • @matteventu
      @matteventu Год назад

      It currently runs a "container" (ARC++) ro run Android apps, and it's indeed based on Android 9. However it will be updated in the next few months to Android 11, but that will also change the way Android apps are ran: instead of just using a separate container, it will run them by virtualizing the new container (ARCVM) based on Android 11, which on Chromebooks that have already received the update to Android 11/ARCVM, really really affects the performances and stability of Android apps. So it's actually better to hope the Android 11 update will be delayed forever 😬

      Honestly I think the Chromebook duet would probably be better for a student. You could still use a stylus with it if you buy a USI 2.0 stylus. It has longer software support and Chrome OS is going to be a little bit better for students compared to an Android tablet. Plus you could still download Android apps and games anyway on it if you want

      Apparently the 8 GB version of the duet 3 is on sale as well. I have the link at the top of the comments.
      I did a comparison video between the X2 and the Chromebook duet if you look back at my videos. It was probably a few months ago. Personally I prefer the duet for a few reasons. But they aren't exactly the most logical. The HP has an SD card slot and it has a pin that comes with it and it does have a 8 GB of RAM version that at least at that time wasn't out for the duet. But I prefer the duet keyboard by quite a margin. To be honest that was one of the biggest differentiating factors for me. Because I didn't need the extra RAM at the time and I didn't use the pin as much. But it's really different for everyone. Especially now that there is a higher RAM model of the duet it's a really tough call. I think the HP is the slightly better value in some ways because it comes with the pen and you can install an SD card. But I didn't need the SD card. And you may be the same way. In that case I think the keyboard for the duet may give it an edge. Both are really good devices and I would recommend checking out that comparison video

    Would you buy this or the Galaxy Tab S6 lite?

    • @AndroidDigest
      @AndroidDigest  2 года назад

      Two completely different beasts. If you love the stylus and that's a huge draw (pun not intended, but hey, it's a good pun) I would recommend the S6 Lite. The S6 Lite will also have a little bit less bugs on the Android side. But for me personally I would prefer the Duet 3.. Even with the few bugs that drive me nuts (like the touch keyboard blinking when pressing the space bar on Twitter). I still think the Duet 3 has a ton going for it. The screen is better than the screen on the S6 Lite. It comes with 8 years of OS updates. It comes with a keyboard and kickstand. The keyboard is really good too! And Chrome OS is better for productivity then even Samsung DeX. So I lean towards the Duet. But it's close. And I wouldn't blame someone, especially someone who doesn't need a keyboard, I wouldn't blame someone who really loves the s-pen, if they picked the S6 Lite. It's a great tablet too

    QQ for all your Google mobile experts, I am buying a replacement for my wife's 6 year old galaxy 10 tablet. I bought a brand new OG 10.5 inch 4GB 128 MB Duet for $98 from BB now I see the Duet 3 with 8GB for $279 and the P11 plus 6 GB with keyboard and pen for $300. She JUST wants to consume media which would be the best option?

    • @AndroidDigest
      @AndroidDigest  2 года назад +1

      I would ask first how you like the original duet that you have. How is it working to meet those needs for the content you want to consume? The screen is pretty darn close between the OG duet and the duet 3. If it's fast enough for you and working well I would just use that honestly, especially for the price. It's hard to find a screen that good for $98.
      The P11 plus would probably be the simplest device for consuming content since it just runs Android without all the Chrome OS stuff. But you also won't get significant updates, so after a couple of years you'll stop getting those security updates. The duet should still get updates for years to come. Since chromos devices get 8 years of updates from when they came out originally.

      It is a holiday gift so I have not given it to my wife yet. what I am asking is if the new duet or P11 is a 3x improvement over the OG duet as the prices are 3x higher. My wife is going to use this device like she uses her phone snap chat, FB, web surfing, read new articles, email, shop, Etsy, and Pinterest, She would love to be about to use her cricket from a tablet

      @@itamarcohengadol2904 Hi, it's the 128 Gb model. It would be much, much better if it were just running Android, or just running Xfce on Linux Mint for me. This Duet replaces a second hand iPad mini I had. I plan to give this to my Godson, and go back to Apple, because it works. I use Linux on my Laptops, but a tablet is mostly a recreational tool. It has to just work, otherwise it ceases to be enjoyable. This Lenovo is just a frustration to use.
