This has been an awesome education!
Definitely not stuff I thought about in DC!
In order to have sustained heat in the coldest time of the year if power goes out for several weeks or months the only thing I can think of that will work totally independent of the utilities is a wood burning stove. Last winter my geothermal heat pump had a compressor failuresurprised if power becomes completely unavailable in the next few years.
I agree. A wood stove is top of the list of things I want in place in the next few years, in addition to more solar and some rainwater storage and filtration.
Would you be ready if you lost powered and where snowed in for several days?
Not at all - thanks for making me think about this.
