I'm fairly sure this video was a first of its kind. It went so viral back in the day that I saw my local news channel covering it, and I used to live in Nashville....before Randy played there. I'm betting he saw it.
Randy is the real deal...he doesn't only hang out with the athletes, rich and famous peoples ...he's known to go on fishing trips with everyday folks such/ fans.Much respect Randy!
I honestly can't say Moss was better than Jerry or that Jerry was better than Moss. I think there are a few special players that just cannot be compared to other people. Moss or Jerry? i couldn't honestly answer that if you paid me.
Time has been kind to Moss’s rep as a player. Hard to believe he was a “villain” back in the day when in reality he was a top 3 WR, a content machine and an actual good guy. Still crazy to me that he was pegged as a problem in his playing days
Well it didn't help that his scholarship to FSU was renigged when he got busted with weed, hence why he played at Marshall instead. Also he pushed a Minneapolis cop with his car in 2002 and allegedly knocked her to the ground, she wasn't hurt but sued moss. Moss was definetly viewed as an amazing asset to the Vikings, but was also seen as a drama queen and problem back in his Vikings years. I lived it and experienced it first hand as a born and raised Minneapolis resident. He was also accused of taking plays off and not always giving full effort when the team was down. I agree though, it is hard to see this as he portrays himself on ESPN today. Randy has definetly changed and matured alot, all for the better.
@Belarion A.D. just saw this. Graduated with Jason Williams. He was an awesome quarterback in Jr. High. Could’ve played either sport professionally but stayed with basketball in high school. Same with Moss, he and Williams were unstoppable together on the high school bb team. Bobby Howard played for the Chicago Bears for a short while. Must have been something in the water around here at that time. Unfortunately, I didn’t drink it, 😆
No doubt and nothing can be done about that. He couldn't be beat in his prime. This is the best WR I've ever seen play the game. He was a monster in Madden too.
In my opinion (being a vikings fan) I think that in the early 2000s minnesota had some amazing players Torii Hunter for the twins kevin Garnett for the wolves and of course Randy moss for the vikings and the best part about these three athletes is that they all came back to minnesota during their careers
I will says this now that he is retired. As a Packer fan, every time we played the Vikings I just hoped Randy Moss didn't tear us apart, which he did a lot! Respect Greatness!
One of the most beloved athletes for Minnesota sports fans, it's too bad that during his two stints in MN he was treated like shit. Front office traded him for nothing and Brad Childress ruined his career by cutting Moss. The fans still love you Randy
Man I remember being a little kid watching him. One of the greatest things that has have ever happened in Minnesota Sports. “The Minnesota Vikings have selected RANDY MOSS!”
Here we see the most physically gifted wide receiver EVER, but he'll always be remembered as second best because he lacked the same attitude and work ethic that Jerry Rice had. Still, catchy song and great player.
The money is different in the NFL now and how teams have salary caps. Moss is OK with his record compared to Rice and they have been on shows together. If Moss was given the chance to be fully productive he would be the all time leader. Moss was getting double teamed later which worked out great for his teams goals. Different eras are hard to compare in sports and Rice took hits that are illegal now so there is that as well.
As someone who saw Brady to Moss, I just want to say that he is the most unbelievable WR that I have ever seen. I barely remember his Vikings years, but from what Ive heard he was amazing. If only he had a level head on his shoulders like Rice did. Could've been the greatest ever.
I love this mix. Moss was a villain to me as a Niner fan until he became a Niner. Once he did, I fell in love with the dude's swagger and finally got him. Hope he is enjoying life somewhere, sure miss seeing his highlights on the field.
I don't care what you say, but no one can touch Jerry Rice's all-time career TD record, not even Moss, whom retired 51 TD's shy of topping that record. By the way, guess which of the two played for the Raiders the year they went 2-14 and only had 11 TD's in the two seasons he played with them? Yes, it was Moss. He will be in the Hall of Fame, but not as a better receiver than Rice.
Rawk4Life Emmitt Smith played 20 years too. No one calls him the best ever, lol. Jerry Rice was not even the 5th best WR of all time. He just played until he was an old man to get stats.
xXMidnightSinXx I'm old enough to have seen him play as a rookie. Jerry Rice = Cris Carter level. Same speed, not as good of hands, but if CC had Rice's QBs he would have better stats. Moss is on a entire other level when it comes to WRs
GOAT receiver, in the sense that if I had to draft a team to win one game, I'd choose Moss as my first receiver. Prime Moss > prime any other receiver.
Manuel Aranda interesting take. I wouldn't necessarily say he's completely analogous to Carter since there was a span of years that Moss was unquestionably the best in the game at his position. I wouldn't say the same is true for Carter, though he was also tremendously gifted, an athletic freak, like Moss (as you said). I'd say maybe Iverson is an interesting comparison. Was a dominant player, but perhaps didn't have as great of a career overall as he could've due to attitude issues - like Moss.
The greatest wide out in the history of the NFL. From the great Rand University Down Home West Virginia❤💯! Get them 84 Jerseys out yall! You know damn well he should have been a cowboy
sad part of sports but it is what it is right.....some greats just don't win...blame cannot be placed on that one player...which haters tend to do on moss and other players...team sport everything has to click...also can't define a mans career on championships either to be honest...nba Robert Horry seven rings yes SEVEN! make him better then MJ? magic? bird? no shot! personally Randy is the best WR ever....no one cud change a game like him...one throw he simply cud win it....
DJdaveyshpins Wide Receiver just doesn't have as big of an impact on football as other positions. TO, Moss, Cris Carter, Calvin Johnson never won a ring. The only all time great QB that never won a ring is Marino.
No, Rice had the greatest "fate" of any wide receiver in NFL history. There aren't a whole lot of WR's in Rice's time who could've failed when surrounded by an OL, two quarterbacks and a receiving corps, all of whom attained legendary status. The "greatness" that Rice was able to control was generating the hype that he continues to perpetuate about himself being a one man three time SuperBowl winner. He's the very definition of "a legend in his own mind." Rice had the luck, Moss the true talent.
Who was that guy at the beginning of the video announcing Randy Moss's name? I thought the commissioner announces 1st round picks (in 1998 it would have been Paul Tagliabue)
Asked him if being in New England would revitalize his career in 2007??? His response, 23 TDs and 1500 yards!!! Straight Cash Homie, One Clap. Help them get to Super Bowl undefeated.
Where is he now? He's a retired NFL player who holds more receiving records than anybody else for single game and season, and he's an espn analyst so making more money than your ass ever will
