It's documentation at this point. It's Archer and Bob. Archer was portrayed as Bob once and I would love to see him as Ben although Katz is like Woodhouse
While this show clearly has NO bad episodes, this is absolutely one of their best. Both guests are 100/10, and of course Dr Katz, Ben, and Laura are all completely on point. Love this show ❤️
It's classic Jewish comedy, but with a twist: it's delivered quietly and slowly, with no outrage. Try imagining Rodney Dangerfield telling the same joke: "So dis guy he asks my fadda he says, 'Why you got so little faith in your son?' And my dad says, "I dunno, I guess from all duh time we spend togetha!" (Rimshot.) Still works great, but it's missing the subtle hook shot of Jonathan Katz.
Really love those shots of Ben's face suddenly changing from goofy grin to a scowl like at 14:03, or in the ep where Steven Wright throws a penny at him and claims it 'fell from the ceiling or something'. Not only that, the shot lingers a second before cutting to next scene, like Ben's silently thinking. It's a type of visual joke that was of course entirely absent when they recorded the (largely retro-scripted) dialogue. My point being that the animators deserve no small credit for how funny the show is as a whole.
genericwhitemale - Yeah, it was pretty weird, but ASMR channels (and youtube for that matter) didn't exist back then. If you wanted your fix you had to use weird methods. Now you can narrow down what kind of sounds you want to listen to in a google search.

brendon had nothing to do with dr katz, Loren Bouchard had a had a hand in writing with Katz you are correct on mcguirk and eric. but Laura didn't voice Melissa, Laura Silverman voiced Linda, Brendon's stepmom and various other voices. Melissa was voiced by Melissa Bardin Galsky who was Katz assistant in reality for Dr Katz
this is my probably in my top 5 fav episodes of the whole series and I’m really glad I’m not the only one who got asmr tingles from Rita’s voice Also, Barry’s part is the absolute funniest
Gray Matter I think this is the only show that accurately depicts one of those personal silly moments we all have. We say or think of something that amuses us far more than it should, causes us to crack up, while only baffling everyone else around us.
"Well I'm actually thinking that, uh, I'll make the decision on this one, and then, uh.." "Ben, she's coming! And, Dammit she's gonna stay in my bed." "Ok. Let's call."
Jung is the major inheritor of Freud's work in psychoanalysis. A "jungian slip" is not a thing. Dr. Katz is saying he didnt mean anything by "hated pool," it wasnt significant. To say it was not that, a Freudian slip, he jokes it must have been a Jungian slip.
Minor confession: Instantly fell in love with Rita Rudner years before seeing her in this show, and also, haven't really kept track, but in the intervening time if she may or may not have said something that I might consider...suboptimal, must admit that I may or may not have done the same. So I don't care. Barry was hysterical, btw
Classic episode I remember being 11 telling the refrigerator, the look how they get ya, and the E stands for ehh there's still some left jokes about my dad to my lil sibs we were to young at the time for at this hour he hadn't said that yet, and realizing for the 1st time ben is so so stupid
