The VRM phase was actually only 3+2, with doubler the component. But then I bought this one, since it was the cheapest B450 ATX board I could get back then, and it's compatible with my T-Force Night Hawk RGB 3200Mhz CL16 RAM.
i have a patriot pair same 3200 cl 16 ddr 4 ram , same mobo, and i get a prompter on black screen at startup, sign for me that mobo dislike the memory setup. any ideas how to fix this? ty cpu is a amd 2600 pinnacle,
Such an underrated RUclipsr. Quality content delivered everytime. Thank you for such a wonderful elaborate overview of this board which I bought after watching this video. My only question to you is do you think I should upgrade from a 2600 to a 3600 in 2020 ? I have a gtx 1660 super to go with all this. God bless you and hope your channel gets the recognition it really deserves !
Wow, thank you! and personally i would stick with what you have right now. yes the 3600 is faster and a newer process but at £160 here in the UK over a £100 2600 it isn't 60% faster for sure. If you have the money and feel the need to upgrade then go for it and sell the 2600 to cover the costs to some extent. either way the 3600 is good but the 2600 is also decent and can overclock pretty well if you don't have the funds to upgrade
Built my first Pc this month with this board and I can fully recommend it , for the price it is exceptional. Sorry it was the pro m 4 version I used using a 2600x with a rx 570 as i got the graphics card for £80
used this exact board for my first pc build, I put in a ryzen 5 2600, gtx 1050 2gb and 16gb ddr4 3200mhz (2x8 sticks) ram. 240GB kingston ssd and a 1tb toshiba hdd. this thing rocks. thanks for the review!
do you overclock your ram?or just enable your xmp profile?since in the website it says that it only support until 2933mhz and you need to overclock to get 3200mhz. My setup is similar to yours i have ryzen 5 2600, gtx 1070, asrock b450 pro4 but with 2400mhz ram so i wanted to upgrade my ram to 3200mhz.
Mike, I always like you. You seem like a good and honest "bloke." I'm a yank but lived in Switzerland for 20 years so learned words like that. :-P I'm thinking of slowly buying some parts for a future AMD build with some upgradeability. I try to not fall for the newest marketing and saw that Asrock came out with 5000 bios early. Do you think I could get away with this mobo to get started but still go for 5000 series even overclocked in the future, say a 8 core/12 thread even overclocked or is that silly? This mobo is 65 bucks now
Late here, but I just built a new gaming system using this board and an R5 3600. Was very cheap, and it works perfectly. This board has everything I needed and more, a really solid motherboard that has discrete bells and whistles. i have mine in a Fractal Design Meshify C lit with six Corsair QL series fans, and the lack of RGB on the board itself makes actually looks really good lit buy the fan RGBS. The board has a very clean, technological look without being flashy or having random bright red parts. You can really use this board in any system and its color scheme won't clash with everything else.
Man, you make my day! I was looking for a good review of this motherboard. But I must ask about temps on B450M Pro4. They will be good with R5 1600X after OC??? I ask to get a fair look at what I can buy for this MB.
That CPU is probably the sweet spot and right now is a great price. The the temps overall will be based on by other factors like ambient temperature and case and airflow. With the Extra vrm cooling included this should be a good setup
@@mikesunboxing Thank. I at on short budget now I have r3 1200 and now I fishing good motherboard for future. This will be still a huge jump in my opinion from C2D e8700 :) And about case got SilentiumPC Signum SG1, 5 120mm fans, if temps will be hight then I do some DIY 40mm fan adds to a heatsink.
I found MSI B450 mother boards are the only ones based on this chipset which support 3466mhz ram, even above Asus and Aorus specs (which are more expensive)...do we suppose it's because they really are on a higher level? Or is it mere marketing? I think X470 mother boards are unresonably too expensive, but it's a pity to can't upgrade ram sticks beyond 3200mhz on most B450 chipset. Assuming MSI mother boards specs are realiable and reflect their quality, it would be a profit. What do you think?
So I got a deal on newegg and it is a combo of the R5 2600, 16gb ram ddr4 Gskill tridentz, and the b450 pro4 Im pairing this with a gtx 1660 ti, a phanteks p300 case, 3rgb fan cases by corsair (ll120), 650 watts psu, 512gb ssd, and 1tb hdd ps im using the stock r5 2600 cooler Any recommendations?
Nice setup. Sounds like a great setup. What 1660ti are you going for? I just reviewed the Zotac 1660ti and that is a lot of card for the money and overclocks to Strix levels easily

Which one has the better vrm cooling, the b450 Tomohawk Max or the asrock b450 pro 4, since the heatsink on the asrock is designed to have a fin design the cooling would be better while Tomohawk one looks more congested. What do you think abt this?

Should I get this mobo rather than an MSI B450 Tomahawk? I’m just gonna be using a Ryzen 5 2600 and I’m not going to overclock. Relatively new to pc building so any help would be appreciated!
The B450 tomahawk is probably the better board in terms of VRM but maybe trade blows on features. Depending on the price difference where you are that would be a deciding factor. you say you are not looking to overclock so i would probably go with the ASRock and maybe save a few £££ $$$
Hi mike thinking of using this board with the rx580, Ryzen 5 2600, Corsair vengeance 16gb 3200, 650psu think this will be a good starter build? And is 3200 too much for this motherboard ? should I make i drop it to 3000 or will the ram be fine? Thanks
Hey I was wondering if this board will run 4x8gb sticks of 3200 ram without any adjustments? Or if 3000 would be a better fit? 🤔 Thanks for any insight!!
Sounds like my local PC shop chose a good board for the Ryzen 5000 CPU. The finished PC goes like a bullet train compared to my old Windows 7 running on Sempron. I'm not interested in gaming or graphics design, so what comes out of the box is fine for my needs.

@@mpk6664 I am a banker and have worked in and around banking for several decades. You ask: Do bankers treat you differently if your bank account has a large balance? Yep. Dang right. I suspect this isn't a popular answer. This is a pocket book issue. A paycheck issue. My pocketbook and paycheck. Besides that obvious answer, the subtle answer is one of respect. Clients with high balances are probably disciplined savers and investors, profitable business owners, and generally hard working people. Probably having above average intelligence and education. All of those are admirable. These clients have frequent conversations with their banker about financial matters. And this builds a personal relationship. I like talking to my friendly acquaintances.
I have a question about the back plate on the underside of the cpu socket. When you take those two brackets off on either side of the cpu socket, what holds the back plate to the bottom of the motherboard? I'm thinking there are screws or nuts or something. I don't really have a particular model in mind pretty much any will do the job at the budget end or spend a bit more on a decent dual band model like the Asus ones

@@mikesunboxing I think the Asus ROG Strix X370-F might be a better MOBO then B450 Tomahawk but I am not sure if it supports R5 3600. What do you think?
Seems like a very good mid-level, jack-of-all-trades motherboard. Doesn't excel in anything, but affordable and more than enough for most things and will probably be future proof for many years to come. The AK-47 of motherboard.
Hi Mike, I'm thinking about building a pc with Ryzen 2700X, 16 GB RAM 3000MHz, and a GTX 1660 Ti, and I would be using the Arctic 33 eSports edition ...would there be any problems overclocking the cpu if I went for this Motherboard?
It would be okay but that is a very high end CPU in a budget motherboard, so you need to be honest with yourself and also think about your expectations of the overclocking. If you want the very best of of the chip you should be looking for a high end x470 board really. But if that then means you have less money for the CPU then this board will serve you well as long as you realise it is a lower end board and the extra performance isn't going to be as good as a board that costs 3 times the price. Hope this helps?
@@mikesunboxing Is this motherboard going to HINDER a 2700x and 1660 Ti if you are not overclocking them, will the get the full "factory" output as they should?
No it won't hinder it as it is on the compatibility list so has been tested to work as intended. The more aggressive overclocking on this board would be more difficult than a board with better power delivery
Is there a wifi card you recommend for this board if i have a VERY small case? Like from Linus Tech Tips No Dollar Wasted build? My house doesn't have ethernet.
just 1 question, there are 3 bars in the right bottom of the motherboard. I have big video card (gtx1080) will this be able to go over the sticks or will it not be possible?
I'm not 100% certain this board is a 6+3 phase. The B450m pro4 uses a vrm controller that only allows for up to 4+4, which meant that in stead of 6+3, they had 2 of each vrm running parallel meaning it's 3+3. Unless the full atx board uses a different controller, I think it's exactly the same as the B450m.
yes you are right it is a 3 phase design with a doubler docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1d9_E3h8bLp-TXr-0zTJFqqVxdCR9daIVNyMatydkpFA/htmlview?sle=true#gid=639584818
Lol, thanks! One last question , the case i intend to use for this build (Redragon sideswipe gc-601) has a controller to change the colour and the speed of the fans. It has 6-pins and it doesnt fit most of the mobos i have checked will i be able to connect it to this one?
From what i can see the controller is a custom one and has no option for external control other than the controller itself and maybe the remote (if there is one?) If you want to control the fans from a motherboard you might want to check out the review of the Sahara p10 sync i posted, that has the option for either self control of plug into the board like the one in the review (that's what i bought if for ) You can search sahara p10 sync and i think my review is in the top few results Take a look and let me know your thoughts.
For me the features of the asrock are more suited like the RGB and ARGB headers and extra cooling on both the vrms but both boards are essentially the same give or take. I would got for the MSI if it was a lot cheaper than the asrock. And also it seems more likely the asrock will support the next gen ryzen chips

@@mikesunboxing thank you for answering my question. I guess I'll stick with the 2600 for the time being then.☺️

I'm thinking of slowly buying some parts for a future AMD build with some upgradeability. I try to not fall for the newest marketing and saw that Asrock came out with 5000 bios early. This mobo is 65 bucks now
that is possible on this board, and for 65 dollars it is a steal

Hey Mike! Great video
Can I OC my Rayzen 5 2600 in this motherboard?
Yes you can
Have this motherboard, but mine is R2.0 and it´s really good.
You can really use this board in any system and its color scheme won't clash with everything else.
i totally agree, glad you like it

I ask to get a fair look at what I can buy for this MB.
That CPU is probably the sweet spot and right now is a great price. The the temps overall will be based on by other factors like ambient temperature and case and airflow.
With the Extra vrm cooling included this should be a good setup

And about case got SilentiumPC Signum SG1, 5 120mm fans, if temps will be hight then I do some DIY 40mm fan adds to a heatsink.
This will be a good option and it looks likely to support the new am4 processor when they launched
So I got a deal on newegg and it is a combo of the R5 2600, 16gb ram ddr4 Gskill tridentz, and the b450 pro4
Im pairing this with a gtx 1660 ti, a phanteks p300 case, 3rgb fan cases by corsair (ll120), 650 watts psu, 512gb ssd, and 1tb hdd

I'm not 100% certain this board is a 6+3 phase.
