Levees are the direct filling of the basin and the direct erosion of the coast east of Vermillion Bay. Every flood large or small deposits 2 to 5 inches or more of mud/ silt and the levees hold that mud in and the Swamp keeps rising higher and higher. Levees keep that mud from fertilizing and building up the land around the rivers and the coast and also lets saltwater intrusion to lakes and bayous that naturally have water flowing to the coasts. Not for or against pipelines but the real reason we will lose the basin and our coast is because of the levee systems!

You gotta love pipelines or you won’t live. It’s a balance .

we wish the industry would show more love for their pipelines than they do.
