They absolutely do. It was at Blade Show. Don't now how they managed to leave that out. I think DCA even showcased it on their own show coverage, but I could be misremembering that.
I think the price of the knife should be the first thing said about each, since everything else said could be good or bad depending on that factor. I think it's easier to watch and evaluate them in that way
16:08 Belka is a knife with a two-handed opening, without a lock and spring like in a modern slipjoints, with a reverse tanto + clip point blade and plastic overlays with the image of a running squirrel (there was also a Panther). Almost every kid in the yard had a Belka. The most important entertainment with this knife was a game called "Nozhichki" ("Knives"), where you had to stand in a drawn circle and drop the knife tip into the ground from the height of your outstretched hand. The hit player separated a piece of land from the opponent (drew a line back and forth in the direction of the blade) and offered to choose an opponent from two halves. If a player had little land left and could not stand on it with two feet, he was eliminated from the game. I wish I could go back to those days for at least a day :)
We used to play that game too! We also played a different game on a wooden bench, with a slip joint knife opened half way 90 degrees, where you had to flip the knife over your finger and make it stick into the bench. All the babushkas were mad because we ruined their benches. Good times!!
I just found and bought an in stock top liner lock Vosteed Raccoon. I wish I watched this about an hour ago. The Drop Bear blade shape is very similar. S90v is great at that price.
27:45 'Just when you thought 50 dollar flippers couldn't get any better. They went and put a crossbar lock on it. ...and I guess got rid of the flipper too...' - Seth
I'm digging that Endura but am in a wildly humid environment. Anybody know how well that coating protects against corrosion? I tend to not want to fuss over corrosion maintenance.
Have you heard of a company called Manly Knives? You might not like the belt finished grind and theirs a few little fitment issues but I have a few of their S90v knives. They are the cheapest I have found in that steel. Their from Bulgaria and i'm in the UK so maybe it's not as cheap where you are?
@@velvetine74 My cousin sent me the Manly Peak - a 154CM back-lock model with an oval opening hole - it's very thin behind the edge, an excellent slicer, black G10 scales and a reversible deep-carry clip. He lives in Germany, and also sends me the Boker yearly catalogs - they list Manly as a brand that they distribute.
I know Artisan Cutlery has some “Cheap” S90V knives available But those are much smaller blades Something tells me that Kizer isn’t heat treating it as well Something they have a problem with, they couldn’t get their 20CV and S45VN correct for a bit Still gonna avoid kizer till I know for sure that they aren’t sitting at 58 HRC on uncoated high Vanadium steels
Just got my new buck fixed blade with gut hook for 100 bucks it's a deal and with just some stropping it has a nice razors edge ready for any hunt you could do and have an excellent skinner.
I really like SRM budget knives (have a 8Cr 9201 w/ FRN scales) but, why are 10Cr knives more expensive than D2 or 14C?!? The 9203 is just the 9201 but w/ 10Cr and micarta. Does that really make them 3x the price???? On another note - I don't own any knife over $80-something. Most expensive is the CJRB Knife Center exclusive Pyrite w/ drop point, titanium bolsters, milled titanium clip, and brown burlap micarta scales. That Kizer Drop Bear might make me change my mind about paying triple digits for a knife.
Hey have you guys done a round-up of modern-traditional knives? Or one recently? I could see that being harder to have all the examples for, but it would be nice to get a compare/contrast. While I’m interested for sure, many are too pricey for me to take wild uneducated swings, and there are a lot as well
How is the lock on the Grouper stronger than a standard liner lock? Is there more to the lock than just the button actuated liner locks that are kind of becoming a trend?
Yeah, not a cross-bar lock at all. It's a top liner lock with similar strength as a regular liner lock, but keeps your fingers out of the blade path when closing. I heard these top liner locks are possible since they are based on the Spyderco compression lock whose patent has expired. If it's done as well as the new Vosteed Racoon version then I'm in.
The Boker BRLW looks so much like a Ray Laconico design that I went to the product details to see if I missed something. It isn't one of his, but it's definitely got the same DNA.
SRM knives (Stay Ready for More, daughter company of the Sanrenmu) are amazing. Crossbar, backspacer, G10, top 60 dollar per piece. I think only Ganzo gets kinda close to them. (Feel free to share more wallet friendly good looking brands!) The Finch Pipeline with Jigged Bone Scales is king of the video for me though.
Please… PLEASE!!! Tell me the Condor Bushscot is coming soon. The pre-order reminder emails get my hopes up every time! The Esee Pacaya came in the other day, very very nice. 👍🏼 Not crazy about the sheath, but of a miss.
Hi DCA, Thomas, Seth and the Comment Section. My friend has a Buck 110 and he loves it. It is going to be his birthday soon. I want to buy him a Kwik Thumb stud that allows him to one hand open that knife. (He already cut his thumb trying without them). I would like to get something for myself as well. Could someone recommend me a budget knife that I can both front flip and reverse flick (ideally via fuller). Budget is under $100, I have eyes on the Sencut Bronte, but I want to know if there are more options. I know there is the CJRB Ekko but that is not for me. Thanks a lot.
I would have bought a RoseCraft slipjoint knife already if they would just use a different steel. Id take AR-RPM9 over D2. heck use 1095 or a proper carbon steel and ill be happy.
Seth said if your into these super folders this is the most super that’s actually not a bad price for that reate t1000v2 I might have to get one oh and those new knives thats names are just numbers and letters are pretty awesome looking
MCNEES SOLD OUT ALREADY ? DAMN...The American Blade Works products are ALSO always sold out. There are many premium knives that are simply never available, its frustrating, especially when you have the money, but no inventory to buy !
I don’t know why the Bugout is so popular when the Deka is better in every way, $40 less money, better action, better scales, even the frn scales are better than the bugouts, and hogue has one of the best edges of any production knife, and they are super consistent.
Even the v1 Deka with the "extra" hardware on the scales is one of the favorite knives in my small collection. It's SO near perfect! I've been having evil thoughts of gifting it so I can justify getting a v2 Magnacut and then adding GOAT aluminum scales.
SRM = SanRenMu. The Stay Ready for More bit is just what they're calling themselves on the Western Market the last 3-4 years. And honestly I'm really surprised to see any SRM knives in this video. Not that they are making very good quality knives, mind you. SRM has been doing that for years. Even their budget knives and/or knives intended for the internal market that are marketed under the SanRenMu name have always been good quality, especially for the price. They're like Ganzo knives in that regard. What surprises me is that a major western knife retailer would carry them. I never thought that would happen. I thought people would always have to buy them on either smaller knife retailers or Amazon.
The Kizer Mini Grouper is excellent, I've had mine over two months now and it's incredible. Those SRM knives look great, I'm especially interested in the 255L with the composite blade. The exclusive Drop Bear? Pass. That burlap handle looks like CRAP. Odd to see something so disappointing from Kizer, the Mini Grouper hit a serious home run.
I wish Drop Bears had a configurator at this point, because their picks are not my picks- at all. Like- want the DLC, stuck with nebula. Want 90v, have _polished_ burlap mic. Not buying two to get the knife I’d actually want, not quite
That burgundy color ain't bad but it's a shame that Spyderco chose to put it on those cheapo FRN handles rather than some nice G10 or better yet micarta or composite carbon fiber options. That would a been sweet

The Finch Pipeline is my favorite Finch since the 1929, but that Boker BRLW is giving me the warm and fuzzies.
Those Sanrenmu (SRM) knives are absolutely awesome esp for the price. Some of the sharpest factory edges ever
Nice sharpening choil on those SRM’s. Pretty nice for the price!
I kinda want that desk knife to transformerize into scissors! :)
I saw in someone's review that they do that. Maybe Melissa backwoods?
@@billvan5219 Just searched - they show it on their own channel!

My thoughts exactly
Looks dangerous that knife. Especially if used as scissors.
Good video Seth. And good job Thomas. Thanks
That drop bear looks badass
Not a huge Boker fan but that BRLW is sweet , also that Drop Bear is super tempting.
That SRM 257L is where it’s at man. Classic lines, good lock, fantastic price, I’m buying one.

that lacquered burlap handle is absolutely vile.

Agreed!
What's the point of lacquering it? Come on.
Yup
I can’t stop laughing at your comment brother lmao. I also have extreme opinions on dumb shit so it’s nice to have some company. 😂
You exclusives are the BEST
SRM does a great job on grinds and edges, even their old $10 slipjoints are on point.
I have a cru-wear Endela and I love it. Makes me really want that Endura.
The SRM knives are pretty cool
If you like clones from a known ''inspired on.....'' factory, sure.
@@willd6515 meh. Insane inflation is clobbering all of us trying to live in the US. I'm not sure what knives they were inspired on, don't really care.
The drop bear exclusive is a great deal. I feel like a snob saying it, but man! I wish it was stonewashed blade and a raw finish on the micarta
excellent line - up of NEW knives... excellent presentation... excellent editing. thanks for an enjoyable show.
Awesome video
I'm liking that Drop Bear...a lot.
A great episode. Some amazing knives, well presented. Thank you.
I have a a few SRM knives and they make great budget knives. The last SRM you showed is really nice.
Love your video, did great and the hat is perfect!!!
That Boker and Finch❤😍
Those SRM knives are nice. Y'all should add their Land 910s to your inventory.
How convenient that the cheaper knives are much better looking than the expensive ones. The Boker is an exception though, stunner.
