Thank again for the selvedge denim knowledge brother. Was wondering if the same results apply to selvedge denim jackets and how do you go about washing them?
Funny enough I have a video on this coming soon because one of my raw denim jackets is due for a wash 😅 Stay tuned my friend! Glad you like the content! 🙏🏽 Honestly, it will be my first time washing a raw denim jacket so we’ll be experimenting together 😅😅
Highly appreciate that and look forward to it. Picked up my first 22oz big slub selvedge jacket from Unbranded and I'm on the fence on when to wash. Really want to go for that vintage style fade over the high contrast. Hope you have a great day brother! 🤝
@@Anthony_D_333How do you like their jacket btw? I’ve been looking at them recently 👀 Also, in terms of a vintage style wash, I’d say go for about 65-90 full wears before the first wash, and then wash every 10 or so full wears to really bring out those blues! Hope this helps! 😁🫡
I'm diggin the jacket more than I thought. Love the composition, color, fit, and weight of it for a type 3. I get western vibes from it (in a great way) even when I pair it with a polyester white hoodie, lighter colored jeans, and dark brown work style boots. Got it on Monday, but it inspired me to include more of a western look into my style. Maybe because I moved to rural Arizona. lol! Either way, always trying to have more fun rocking looks.
Thank you so much my friend! I appreciate the feedback! 😁 They really brightened up a lot and they are definitely now much more akin to the indigo color I like. I hope yours turn out just as good or even better than mine 😁
I always do a quick rinse right as I get rid ride chemicals. I can tell you this will do little to nothing for the fade potential. But I do normally wait a few months to do my first real wash.
I wonder what would happen if you just washed them repeatedly like people used to in the 60s-70s to get a low contrast light wash. True vintage style light wash denim instead of stuff that comes like that from the factory
@@snuffspoon I feel like I have to purchase denim specifically with this intent in mind 😭 Otherwise I feel like I’ll always be on the fence about it LMFAO
Bro I just put my jeans in the washer, then low and behold I see this video. I tend to just wash my raws when they're dirty and at the same setting you do. Also believe it or not we have the exact same washing machine lmao
Haha that’s divine timing my brother! 😭🙏🏽 how did they turn out? Also, I LOVE this washing machine! But yes I tend to wash mine as they get dirty or start to smell as well! Cheers king, hope your jeans came out well!
If you are looking for fades, my rule of thumb is initial soak and then don’t wash until fades set in. This way you know where fades are and can reset creases so that they don’t start to form new fades starting the whole process over. How long is that? Depends on jeans. Could be 6 months, could be year and a half. Right now I’m pretty much only wearing Lee and they are 1.5 before fades really set in. After fades set in pretty much wash them whenever.
I had it custom made for me a little while back at a small shop in Miami 😅 I never made a video on it because I’m really not a jewelry guy, and idk a lot of viewers see me on the street so I don’t like to highlight the fact I wear gold necessarily if that makes sense 😅 The shop is called VIP Jewelers Miami. Hope this helps!
I’ve been worn a pair of Naked and Famous left hand twill 13.7 OZ raw denim roughly 25 times (6+ hours each wear). When should I wash them if I want a nice overall fade instead of a stark, dramatic fade?
This is a great question my friend! What you are describing are "vintage style fades" which I happen to enjoy very much. I usually wear my jeans for 3 months before a wash, and then after that initial wash, I begin washing monthly. Hope this helps!
Hi, can you give information about stretching? Color / texture is important but what about sizing ? If for example I usually wear 28/30, you suggest going for 29/32 ? Or keeping same size ? Big thanks in advance!
It depends if a manufaturer compensates for the shrinkage of the denim. Some denim is sanforized to minimize shrinkage. Maybe it helps. I wear 34/34 for washed denim and wear 34/35 or 34/34 in raw denim. Tellason doesnt shrink much, Nudie does.
Wrangler rigid get nice and stretchy after about 6 months of use. I didn’t wear them every day though maybe once a week. Washed them once after about 20 wears. Haven’t washed them since besides spray vinegar or thieves on the inside.
I’ve heard from experts that freezer method doesn’t kill bacteria. Just freezes it and then it thaws out. Makes sense if you think about it. If you had rotten food and froze it, it would still smell rotten when thawed. But I’m not an expert and haven’t tried the freezer method.
Nice , very nice. May I have a quick one? I bought a one wash momotaro denim online. It’s too big, is it possible to wash it by warm or hot water to make it shrink ? Many thanks
I washed my first pair after the second wear because I spilled something on them :) Machine wash cold water no soap, wore them until they dried. I initially tried running water on them in the bathtub but the dye was coming off unevenly and staining parts I didn’t want stained.
I really have to make a video on this because a lot of blogs talk about “spot cleaning” but it honestly makes the jeans look worse in my opinion with the uneven dye. I had to wash my Full Counts after the second wear too because I got chili oil on them 🥹 But they’re fading just fine after the wash. Hoping the same for you brother!
Actually love the way these looked after the wash! Super impressive tbh. I think the "NEVER WASH YOUR RAW DENIM" idea is a little silly and against the ideology of denim in general. If your denim is dirty, wash it. No one wants stinky jeans lol.
Thank you so much for the love and support my friend! Yes I completely agree, even in my first go-around with raw denim 10 years ago, I was never "team no-wash." Then again, I've always liked a brighter blue and more overall fades. Glad you liked the video king!
Why? You're working . Who cares? You're not gonna go to work and be like " I don't wanna get dirty"! Like your boss is gonna be like " Your jeans are dirty"! " Unacceptable You're fired"! Lmao! Give me a break!
Yeah man the biking will give some sick fades but will DESTROY the crotch. Cee Are Dee I believe has the same problem as he bikes in his jeans too. I hope your jeans last you well though! 😁
Great video, but please stop calling it a "jean". It is one pair of jeans (because it has two legs), so jeans is singular already. Jean is a beautiful french name but not a pair of denim trousers and in that regard it just sounds horrible to me :)

The only thing I don't like about it is that made me want to buy more selvedge denim jackets for more variety 🤣😂🤣
What a great video! Thanks! Those blues became so vibrant. That's what I want. I can't wait to wash my selvedge now!

The wash also brings out the true texture of the jeans as well! When I washed my 🐘 11s for the first time and felt them I was like wow

Where did you get that Miami Cuban? Do you have a video on it?

But will it still continue to fade and whisker after washing?
What's your thought on the freezer method? I like the look of a gentle patina, but I've also thrown them in the freezer to preserve the indigo color.

What I don’t understand is if you need to do an initial soak, and how to tell if your jeans are sanforized

Hi Alejandro, thanks. The Soso jeans are not raw but sanforized, as far as i know.
This is exactly how I wash my jeans as well to preserved its color, machine wash cold then hung to dry
Nice video but please ditch the background music - it is really irritating and makes your videos hard to watch.
doesn't need to be ditched entirely, def could be a lot quieter. I would prefer something like Jazz or something @AlejandroJomar likes himself
Definitely will take all this feedback into account for the upcoming ones! Thanks guys! 😁🙏🏽🔥
i like it
Big time agree, I had to mute and put on subtitles
Ya agree, or at least not triplets on the hi-hat lol maybe just some ambiance type of music while your talking
How much it shrank?
yeaaaaahh im not washing my denim jacket anymore if this is whats gonna happen😭
if you wear raw denim to work, wash them as soon as they are dirty, never wear dirty jeans to work

Why do keep talking in five word pattern it constantly. Play with your tone a bit bro
I aint gonna wear dirty clothes. Jeans are an accessory to life, not its point.
Don't buy raw denim problem solved
Average result at best
