Cecily absolutely steals the show whenever there's physical comedy and an over-the-top accent involved. That kick was everything☺️
OMG, YES!! My favorite is the QVC auditions with Kristen Wiig! If you haven't seen it, check it out.
she’s just the best
@@gennyyy.13 yes she is! I can't wait to see her make movies!
Cecily is always a delight.
Kick really did make that skit haha
The quick, defiant "YES" after Henry pleaded with him not to spill the soup had me DYING.
I had tears! LOL.
That made me belly laugh
3:37 "Oh, no ... no, please sir" -- "Yes!"
Facts 👌🏻😂😂
Thank you for your comment! I had to turn away from the video and missed that part. I'm SO glad I rewatched it! 😂😂😂
That kick was everything. I laughed so hard. Then the cups on the mantle got me again.
I almost fell out of bed
@@rickmatsokotere2251 seriously. Cecily was so funny. Glad I’m not the only one who laughed!
The kick killed me 😂😂😂
@@ChristianGolson seriously though. The work put in to make that kick happen!!
I completely lost it at the kick. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I find it rather hilarious that Benedict Cumberbatch is doing an even more cartoonishly exaggerated posh English accent on top of his existing British accent.
The one you can trust to do so
So well, you'd think he trained under John Cleese and the rest of Monty Python.
You suuuuuuuure?
Ab..solutely in..credible.
Yep that was happening... you really found this sketch to be funny? Watch it again.
Every single “Hennnrayyyyy” just tickled me 😂🤣😂 ☕️🫖
never saying "Henry" in a different way now ahaha ! HENRRRRAAAAAAAAY
Yessss! 🤣🤣🤣
There is melody in every occurrence.
Hennnnrrryyy! 😂😂😂
American SNL cast members: let’s do goofy over the top fake British accents.
Benedict Cumberbatch: you got it.
Rest of the World (who has never been to Britain): The imitation accents are 'on pointe'... Great comedic performance !
"Henryyyyyyyyy!"
@@castlebound2010 ngl as a Brit I thought these were pretty good tbf
@@tzvi7989 I was wondering what Mr. Cumberbatch thought of their accents. Some are better than others, LOL...
@@johnathandavis3693 not everyone is so gifted haha but I bet he was partly responsible for the QC
Benedict, a British man trying to act like an American acting like a Brit. Acting 100.
Apt 👌🏾
and doing a good job of it too
henREEEEHHHY!
I'm the dude, playing a dude, disguised as another dude.
What? He was playing a Brit
When Benedict tries guiding her to the couch, they look like a very untalented pair in a Tango competition. Purely hilarious!!! Boy this sketch really tickled my funny bone. 😀
cringe . u must be in your late 30s
@@Anas-sw8od at least! 😀
Tango? How dare you, she could die!
@@Anas-sw8od and going by the fact you say "cringe", you are... 14?
😄 I loved those little dances "*to the couch*!! "💃🚶🛋
Cecily Strong is so perfectly over the top. Her dedication to these bits is just perfect. It reminds me of when she did the Judge Pirro wine dunk tank. 110% every single time.
Agreed. I think I enjoyed this much more than the audience did 😂
"Dedication"! Exactly! I think she loves doing those silly ridiculous things, that are nothing ridiculous actually. And I love seeing her doing those, she's so lovely.
Over the top acting and prop humor were turned into hilarity - the cast really delivered the goods here.
Cumberbatch's voice control is insane. I found myself trying to say Henrrraaayyy like him
henrehhhh bring SHEHHREHHHHH😄
Benedict's posture and bouncing walk as he tries to guide Cecily to the couch is hilarious 😂.
😂😂😂😂
I love how Benedict Cumberbatch is kind of doing a fake, over the top British accent.
Well yes, because this is actually just one type of English accent that very few people speak with in England, let alone all of britain. Benedict is quite posh himself in real life but not like this 😂 and I realise Americans know this specifically. But it still seems like posh English generally is what you lot consider the “most British” and given that the rest of us hate posh English people (for many reasons) we get quite sensitive about it lol
HenriiieeEEEHHH!!!
No, that is his real accent. All us English speak like that when nobody else is around.
@@kJ922-h3j posh = 1%? .01%?
it's actually crazy how many different accents there r here in a small country like England. Most of them aren't posh at all. I think Geordie (Liverpool) accent might be the most shocking to people that think most English hav posh accents
Henry: "Oh no, no please sir"
Benedict: "YES!"
😂😂😂😂😂
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
This one was so ridiculous but I loved how committed everybody was to the bit 🤣🤣
Slapstick still wins and Cecily is a treasure
I loved it when she kicked the tray.
It's difficult comedy to pull off these days, but Cecily and the SNL crew do it exceedingly well.
This sketch def has Carol Burnett show vibes, it's hilarious, Benedict is really hilarious he needs to do more comedy roles and Cecily is really funny doing these type of sketches
I agree. Tim Conway vibes
Totally thought Carol Burnett too.
💯💯💯💯😄
That was my thought!! Brilliant all the way around
I was just about to say Cecily Strong has gone full-on Carol Burnett
How did no one in audience laugh when Benedict overpronounced faint that shit was really funny lol.
I think he said "fit" there, not faint. But still
FIT
'frit'
As in a slang version of frightened.
Lol, all of you need your hearing checked if you think he said 'faint' and couldn't hear the exaggerated 'r'.
@@Tao_Tology He was trying to say fit, which he said later, but blended fit and faint.
"She's putting on quite a show!" Cecily picks up vase and screams, and throws it... 🤣🤣🤣☠️
Benedict Cumberbatch brings the fun back to SNL. His absolute commitment to each sketch using his acting chops and vast talent has made this one of the best SNL shows in a very long time.
Yes - He is extraordinarily gifted and so damn funny...
Agreed!!
It’s always a great show when he’s on.
This was just so fun and silly. I loved this so much. You could tell they were having fun.
This sketch reminds me of black-and-white silent films. Marvelous acting👏
Flying circus-ish lol
Cecily is one of my favorites. She definitely doesn't disappoint in this skit.
Look at what you have done. She missed the couch. 😂😂 She kicked the tray. 😂😂 Don't worry sir. I am fine.
😂😂
Fantastic skit and everyone was amazing, but Cecily is a national treasure. She always makes everything so much more hilarious. She's awesome paired with Benedict who is just as great.
this sketch is rather silly but I couldn't help but crack up when she kicked the elixir out of henry's hands
😂
Every once in a while they write a sketch for themselves and hope the audience has fun too, this is one of those sketches
You gotta feel bad for Henry. He has to deal with this all the time.
Yes. And how do they even have any china left? lol
I wanted to see Henry oppose getting stuff because he knew what would happen.
@@sha11235 Yes! That skit deserves at least 1 sequel 😄
Cecily Strong is reminding me more and more of Carol Burnett in terms of her wonderfully precise super silly physical comedy.
I was thinking the exact same; the whole sketch is so reminiscent of the Carol Burnette Show. Tim Conway as Henry. Harvey Corman as the husband.
She’s a legend!
Cecily has definitely earned her stripes. I agree, I'd rate her, up there with Burnett and Ball.
@@waynej2608 definitely!
"This calls for a celebration, HENRUUAAYY"
This is probably the most absurd sketch that has made me laugh this much😂
I love how Alex has a more calming, realistic british accent and Benedict is straight up "OY!"
This was hands down one of the best SNL skits in ages. Had me DYING with laughter. GREAT job!!
The spirit of Monty Python is strong with this sketch.
I thought that, too, esp when BC started staggering around.
Watch Mr. Show's Story of Everest sketch. It's the same basic sketch but done 25 years ago.
I'm glad somebody else noticed it too. So absurd that it's hilarious.
@@VicLabs Can here to say the same. I don't mind this updated version though. 💕 Cecily
😂😂😂😂 when Cumberbatch says "yes" right before hitting the scalding hot soup 😂😂😂😂😂
I'm gonna be giggling about that one for a while
This is like beyond stupid but hilarious😭😭😭
Could be the inspiration for this one: ruclips.net/video/DOWO4gq-whg/видео.html
Right!!
juat the 1st part
Like something out of Caroll Burnett, only with less corpsing.
I say! Quite!
I want this to become a recurring bit for Cecily, I love this
You want THIS to become a reoccurring bit?
Love the breaking stuff humor. It never gets old.
Piping Hot. I would be scared too.
The kick and the "yes" were such highlights. So small, but hilarious 🤣
That butler is hilarious!
"Now, PIPING HOT SOUP, Sir?!" 😱
This is the closest SNL will get to a Carol Burnett Show sketch. This was originally in the Kieran Culkin episode - I'm glad it ended up here as Benedict really nails it. And Mikey wailing in pain in these sketches will never not crack me up.
Where did you hear or read that Kieran was supposed to play this part instead of Benedict? Thanks.
This is a Mr. Show sketch. The Story of Everest, which is like a 25 year old sketch at this point.
I, too, was reminded of the Carol Burnett Show watching this. The humor is very classic. Not really my thing, but it's kind of heartwarming to see people still doing it today.
@@VicLabs It's a pretty old idea...probably all the way back to Charlie Chaplin and other slapstick silent films, and even before that. The Mr. Show version is great though.
I hope Mikey got hazard pay for this one.
That kick of the tray was something straight out of Rockefeller 🤣😭
Cecily’s delivery with the fainting in the beginning and the “aaah” while throwing the vase solidified this as a long time favorite of mine I think. Was craaacking up.
That high kick Cecily did to kick the tray...😂😂😂
These costumes are more Gilded Age than the actual Met Gala lol
It was gilded glamour, not necessarily gilded age
@@stephanie22345 glamour of the gilded age... like even if it wasn't about the gilden age, where was the actual gilded? literally no gold in sight for 99 percent of them...
@@asmrtina6966 the theme mentions nothing of the gilded age. Do anything glittering and gold would work. Yeah, a lot of people didn’t really do the gold, but that doesn’t change the fact that they didn’t have to dress in the styles from 1870-1900
This is Edwardian.
The event itself met the definition for "gilded glamour" (ie representing the use of "wealth and glamour to conceal the social unrest and turmoil of the era). So literally anyone showing up to participate in fancy threads helped the overall event itself meet the definition.
“No oh please no”
“🖐…Yes”
Knocking off each individual tea cup with her hand instead of sweeping the shelf with her arm was brilliant.
Cecily is always so good with the accents
Shades of Carol Burnet!!! This could have easily been Carol, Harvey, Tim and a guest star. 💜💜💜💜💜💜
It would've been better with them because they would've cracked up at some of the stuff.
First thing I thought, Carol Burnett
Harvey would have been biting a hole in his lip trying to keep from laughing 😅
Uh-hum....... You have to be "of a certain age" to recall the comic genius of The Carol Burnett Show of the 1970s, and then compare it to SNL of the 2020s. Great comparison! High praise. 👍
This skit has the most incredible timeless feel to it - I mean, a hot soup tray gag? In 2022?! I love it!!
The way Benedict said yes right before knocking over the soup was the most hilarious part
"HENRAYYYY" 🤣gets me everytime
Cleaning up after the dress rehearsal must've been a hoot for the crew.
Spoken like a props master!
I don’t know how anyone kept a straight face in this sketch
Ever notice how SNL is suddenly creative and funny when their guest host is a good actor?
What was creative and funny about THIS sketch? Knocking over things. Repeat.
Hey Dad
@@4seeableTV With physical comedy like this, it's all about timing and delivery, and Cecily and Benedict have master level skills at both. Everybody is talking about Cecily's kick, but her first fall is even funnier, because of the very precisely silly way she lands her legs. You can't teach that. Plus the way they kind of bounce around as he's trying to take her to the couch. Precision silliness isn't as easy as those two made it look ))
@@MaximilliansHammer If you have to EXPLAIN why it was funny, then it's not funny. Listen to the audience. No one's laughing.
@@4seeableTV The annals of SNL greatness are littered with skits the live audience didn't get into. And for the record, I was just explaining it to YOU. The vast majority of people here were independently invoking stuff like Carol Burnett, which is exactly where this skit took its inspiration from, whether purposefully or unconsciously. That this was funny to most viewers isn't really in question.
As a Brit, I absolutely love Alex Moffat's upper class English accent. It is so perfect that it sounds weird when he speaks in his own.
Cecily is literally my cat trying to subtly indicate dislike of guests in the house
what a tour de force! this has to be both Cecily and Benedict's best acting work!
OMG! Cecily breaking the cups on mantle. 😂
Mikey is the ABSOLUTE STRAIGHT MAN ! Never breaks, never strays no matter what !
😂😂this was so cute lol. Benedict is such a good sport-he always gets into character and seems to have fun no matter what he does.
Cecily is totally laughing into her hands after the "Yes."
She's barely keeping from laughing during Cumberbatch's whole fit
I would totally watch this show every day all day
Absolutely one of the most unique and hilarious SNL sketches I've ever seen!
Making a bold prediction here: Benedict will get an Emmy nomination for this hosting gig.
Butler: "Oh no. Please sir."
Benedict: "Yes."
Slap
benedict cumberbatch is the BEST. i could watch him do anything
Gotta love how Cecily pulled off such a ridiculous performance straight-faced, but she's barely holding it in watching Cumberbatch doing the same.
A masterclass of a sketch, the physical comedy and commitment were truly exquisite
Classic physical/prop humor lol haven't seen something so old school in a while, everyone blew it out of the park
Hahaha that was my favorite. Thank you!! " Yes ma'am" sounds like MOM. HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY TO ALL THOSE MAMAS ❤️💐
Five minutes ago, ten seconds in, I was like "oh my god, they smashed a perfectly real and fine tea service for this skit!" How young and innocent I was back then.
Who else is here for Mikey Day!? Man is taking a beating and keeps coming back for more. It takes true acting to know multiple things are about to fly into your face and pretend everything is fine.
With this sketch Cecily strong has officially reached Carol Burnett god-tier comedy.
I also love her graceful pose on the floor after the kick!!! She is a comedy goddess!
I do love some good old fashioned slapstick 🤣
0:25 help, I'm stuck looping this fetching delivery of "yes, ma'am"
I think we all know having Benedict on the show was a really good excuse to pull of some Brittish comedy. Me personally I thought it was Downton Abby gone completely insane lol. Kudos 👏 💐 to everyone :)
Long time, that SNL don’t have a sketch like this. I laugh from the beginning until the end. And Benedict one of the best.
LMAOO THE TINY “**yes**” BEFORE HE FELL IS SO GOOD
"No...", "YES" *soup goes flying*
benedict’s “HENRYYYY” took me out everytime
Benedict “fainting” is priceless. A taurine full of piping hot soup😂😂
That face Henry makes when Cecily knocks over the wine glasses is PRICELESS.
No, THIS is the best skit of the night!
The ‘yes’ before he punches the soup. 😂😂
*"It's happening"* and *"Yes"* are absolutely brilliant.
Cumberbatch and his "Yes" to the dreaded "No's" of Henry
Epic 😂🤣😭
one of my favorite ever sketches. I like how Benedict who is British further exagerates the British accent. Cecilia is a riot.
The way Emilia kept breaking things when she was fainting had me in tears! XD
One of the best skits in years. 🤣🤣and Cecily strong nails it!
The way Benedict steps one way and then the other when she misses the couch
Finally humor in a skit that doesn’t require sex and disgusting jokes. Very well written and done. Reminds me of Carroll burnette of old. Bravo!!
The lapels on the brother's suit aren't symmetrical. How am I supposed to recover from this
Soooo funny! Now, I need a fainting chair 🤣 Benedict Cumberpatch is a great guest. Always funny when he's on
I need a fainting couch
Henry was one efficient butler. Bringing everything within minutes
When the butler said no please no, and Benedict said yes, that cracked me up! 😂
Hahahahaha. I love Benedict Cumberbatch doing comedy. This is so funny.
