In this video Heimler walks you through the next required foundational document for AP Government: Brutus 1. This document was produced by the Anti-Federalists (probably Robert Yates, but the jury is still out on its true author) in order to persuade the New York public, and anyone else who happened to read it, that the people of the United States should not ratify the Constitution.
Brutus argues that investing a central government with so much power would necessarily make state power irrelevant. On this count he is especially concerned about the necessary and proper clause and and the supremacy clause.
this man is literally carrying class of 2022
Frrrrrrr
Shit im class 2024 and he has me on his back
@@alis9425 2025 and he’s gonna carry me through this class
2024
Very true- I had missed my lesson in the documents Brutus 1 and Fed 10 due to getting Covid and my teacher doesn't offer a lot of resources or reference material online, we are kinda just expected to find and learn the material by ourselves, so I'm currently using these videos to catch up- bloody life saver
literally don't know what I'd do without you King
I’m just glad to be here with you 😌
I used to be an APUSH and APGOV student many years ago. I’m coming back to encourage you all to take seriously what you are learning here. I wish I did back then instead of just doing it to get extra college credit and look good for college. A lot of our rights and luxuries are being stripped away and the general population doesn’t even know it or do anything about it. Even if 1 person out of 100 listens to this, please, understand how much this really does apply to our daily lives. - The Founding Fathers would be ashamed and would be actively trying to reverse what we’ve allowed to happen in this day and age.
Correct
Factual
Like what
And all of these idiots are too busy blaming them for being racist. 🤦🏽 They just don’t have an appreciation for their differences and circumstances of that time.
literally posted this as my teacher gave me the document to read
Taking Ap gov in an hour, didn’t even take the class. This man is saving me. The Ap classroom videos are elongated wastes of your time. ❤️
how’d it go?
Hah. Did you pass?
I’ve always wanted to take an ap test without the class lol.
carrying class of 2024! binging every unit review video, foundational documentation, and cases, right before exam day!
You’re the reason I’m passing AP gov rn thank you 🙏
once again getting carried by Heimler, first for Euro, then APUSH, now Gov, huge thanks and much appreciation for all the work you do
speed running for ap exams in 3 days this man is my king

@@kiankhorashadi8397how did it go?
i absolutely love this dude
Still carrying the class of 2023
& 2024
POV: You're binging these videos the day before the exam.
federalists in favor of new constitution
fed 10: how to protect minorities
- factions are dangerous (dominate govt and force ppl to follow their interests)
- solution is to stop factions in the first place or lessen the effects
- solution is a large republic cuz there will be more interests and it will be hard to get support across everyone
- more factions = more compromises
Also kids, don't forget "Polis" that properly addresses the issues of "scale in greek democracy" if you want those bonus points.
I’m here because my teacher was like “Google Brutus 1, it’s on the test tomorrow”
School hasn’t started yet, but I’m watching these videos for fun! Maybe I should get a headstart …

Reserved for later. I missed my lecture on Brutus (I didn't physically miss it, but I did the wrong reading so I felt not emerged into class). Gotta check out later, thank you for uploading.
R u an international student ?
在美國上學嗎
Great vid as always
14 more hours YALL 😍
Taking the Ap gov test in an hour wish me luck 😭
same good luck to us both
good luck 🎉
did you pass
brutus: is it better keep the articles or adopt constitution?
- articles of confederation is better
- concerns about the supremacy clause and necessary and proper clause: if federal law>states, then states will have no power; if congress can carry out any action necessary and proper for an expressed power, it will be too powerful
- concerns about taxes: how will the states tax if the federal govt already taxes? people will be unwilling to pay too much
- large republic will not work because it can’t represent ALL of the people and it will be very slow and disfunctional
i have a test tomorrow with an argumentative essay and im stressing
Well, even so, good luck!
Yes, but Brutus (another one, more likely the one that the founders thought of), like Publius ("author" of the Fed Papers), is one of the founders of the Roman Republic.

ap gov 2024 how we feelinggg (heimler i got a 4 on apush because of you i'm forever loyal)
I named my first dog Brutus for this reason.
Ah, so the average IQ of anti federalists has increased!
This guy is so clutch
"The individual, unlike the corporation,
cannot be taxed for the mere privilege of
existing. The corporation is an artificial
entity which owes its existence and charter
powers to the state; but the individuals
rights to live and own property are natural
rights for the enjoyment of which an excise
cannot be imposed." Redfield v. Fisher, 292 P
813, 135 Or. 180, 294 P.461,73 A.L.R. 721
(1931)
Now it’s the other way around. Corporations are taxed less than people.
Imma get my brain cow milked
Thank you so much!

Pretty wild how accurate the anti-federalists were in their concerns. Imho, what we have today is everything they warned against

Wasn’t Brutus named after Lucius Brutus, the founder of the Roman Republic?
The Brutus who killed Caesar is the descendant of and named after the Brutus you described.
