Hi Amy. My daughter’s name is also Amy. She is 44 years old; and when I was pregnant, my mother suggested Amy for the baby who turned out to be a girl, and she is the apple of my eyes along with my three grandchildren from her. I think you are a lovely lady, and a very talented lady. Your Mom is beautiful also and a great knitter. I saw your podcast with your Mom, I think in France, and she made beautiful items in 2023, which is amazing how much she worked on them. I learned to knit when I was a child, and my mother taught me being born in Israel and spending 14 years there before coming to America in 1960 with my parents and a younger brother. I moved to California in 1964 when I was 17 and lived there for 40 years before coming to North Carolina to be close to my daughter who lived here 7 years before I arrived here in 2003. I know how to knit and crochet, and I have made many needlepoint pictures from 1970 to 1980 and they are now all over the walls of my house, and I enjoy looking at them. In the last year, I started crocheting and knitting again and many items, especially knitting blankets and some shawls and cowls, and I enjoy knitting the most now, and it really relaxes me. Take a small piece of your grands 86p yarn and light a match to it (probably best by a window or outside out of the wind). Blow out the flame. If the parts are hard melted blob when you touch it, then there is something synthetic (acrylic, nylon, polyester, etc.). Did the yarn not want to burn, the yarn is probably all wool (or others like alpaca or silk) and the charred remains will be ashes. Thanks for another fun episode.

Hi, Amy. Thanks so much for your wonderful episodes. I enjoy every one of them. You might want to look into the Finchely Graft as an alternative to the Kitchener Stitch for grafting sock toes. It is easier to do and easier to remember than the Kitchener. If you do a search on YT you will find several tutorial videos that show how to do it. I think it could also be used to graft the Mynstur, and it can certainly be used for sock toes.

I always enjoy your podcasts. I also hate the kitchener stitch but feel I should be able to do it. I avoid it or do three needle bind offs and have a seam instead, depending on the piece. You wouldn't want to do that with your cowl. It's a beauty. ps love those shoes and always like hearing about clothes too.

I was reminded of my painting teacher when you talked about choosing colours....He always said to do the 'Mantlepiece Test' when deciding if a work was finished, sit it on the mantlepiece and leave it there for a couple of weeks so that you see it every day. The decision making process is best not rushed I find, so I loved his advice and often apply it to colour choices as well, and as you have done. Love your footage of Edinburgh!

I found one of the star/poinsettia patterns you knitted to reflect your Icelandic pattern, which made me wonder about Quaker's origins. We had a Mennonite community near my homeplace in middle Tennessee.

Amy, if you haven't tried a knitted Kitchener (instead of a darning needle Kitchener(, I highly recommend that. Stacy at VeryPink Knits has a good video. Interweave Press has a fabulous written page on it as well. I found and it more fun and because the graft is knitted, it has the same gauge as the rest of your cowl.

I ordered Raven Nest from my library in New Zealand. Early on the book touched my own marriage difficulties, I shut the book and took back to library. I must challenge and breakthrough this relationship fear I have, as it has been over 2 decades ago. For now, other areas in life are more important including knitting, stash, podcasts and events outside of my home.
The Knitting Sutra is not at my libary but this book did, oh gosh was like pulling a card? Knit your own Kama Sutra : twelve playful projects for naughty knitters, LOL

So much fun to knit the 19 different patterns. I thank you for the hint for what color I had to choose for the Half & Half shawl. Sloe/Robins egg. I love it, perfect. I currently Knitting , Burgos west/ Elton pullover/ socks in Østrigs sock yarn Ferner wolle, perfect. Thanks for your pictures of Edinburgh, I want to go there. ❤
I was born and brought up in Kirkintilloch. So funny to hear it mentioned. I don’t live there now or I would definitely be attending the event! I do know that the Glasgow-Edinburgh train stops at Lenzie, which is really part of Kirkintilloch, although not sure how far it would be from the venue, but you could probably get a taxi down into the town… or walk if your feeling energetic! Really enjoying your new format, and seeing your surroundings. It was very helpful to hear how you choose colour palettes too, I usually get myself in a tizzy. Such a good idea just to observe them for a while. 😊
What you're wearing is just lovely❤ The Icelandic cowl is one of the most wonderful knits I've ever seen! I just rejoined a local knitting/crochet group that creats for half a dozen local charities. I'm looking forward to learning new things! I just ordered Sweet Tooth first season from my library.

I'm a new viewer, and I really enjoy the experiment you're doing with the format of this podcast! I do sometimes feel like the 'on my needles, off my needles, next on my needles' format can put a bit too much focus on producing and not on the experience of knitting/crocheting. I still enjoy it, but I like the slow gentle approach you're taking. It's interesting to have a look into other people's regular crafting practice. I also really enjoy how you play around with colour. I find that a mix of complementary and analogous colours really works for me, but I've never considered playing around with tones (saturated vs. muted, pastels, etc).
Loving the summer format! I hope we get to see Aurora’s dress at some point 🙏🏿 Emily Henry is a great romance writer. I’ve read all but one of her books and they are always just what I need at the time. The person who reads them on audible is also lovely to listen to ☺️ Ok, back to the episode!

Love your podcasts, missing your mom ❤. I was thinking that you can take just little part back of Sophie scarf add some nice color with different yarn and finish with correct yarn. The adding of the stip with different yarn will be not showing that much and at the end you will have the same like at the beginning and you don't have to go all the way to the middle ❤

Another cardigan pattern you might like for your nephew is Hechima (boy) . It's an adorable shawl collared cardigan for littles. I have made it a few times and it knits up beautifully.

I ordered Raven Nest from my library in New Zealand. Early on the book touched my own marriage difficulties, I shut the book and took back to library. I must challenge and breakthrough this relationship fear I have, as it has been over 2 decades ago. For now, other areas in life are more important including knitting, stash, podcasts and events outside of my home.
The Knitting Sutra is not at my libary but this book did, oh gosh was like pulling a card? Knit your own Kama Sutra : twelve playful projects for naughty knitters, LOL

Hej Amy Palko. I live in Denmark, love to knit, especially in woolen yarn. I have knit the Mynster, last year, in Dansk pelsuld, gray and green, I love it. So much fun to knit the 19 different patterns. I thank you for the hint for what color I had to choose for the Half & Half shawl. Sloe/Robins egg. I love it, perfect. I currently Knitting , Burgos west/ Elton pullover/ socks in Østrigs sock yarn Ferner wolle, perfect. Thanks for your pictures of Edinburgh, I want to go there. ❤

I was born and brought up in Kirkintilloch. So funny to hear it mentioned. I don’t live there now or I would definitely be attending the event! I do know that the Glasgow-Edinburgh train stops at Lenzie, which is really part of Kirkintilloch, although not sure how far it would be from the venue, but you could probably get a taxi down into the town… or walk if your feeling energetic! Really enjoying your new format, and seeing your surroundings. It was very helpful to hear how you choose colour palettes too, I usually get myself in a tizzy. Such a good idea just to observe them for a while. 😊

Your Sophie's shawl looks just fine, only you would know it is not the same yarn at the end. Your kitchener graft looks quite good. I was all prepared to go to Knit City Montreal, tickets in hand, was so glad to invite take a knitting friend to her first festival, but sadly I was caught by COVID, so I had to miss it. I might revenge buy yarn on line though ... Thanks for the great footage from your area, it makes me dream. I just loved the knitted flowers on the fence at the end.

@@AmyPalko Not yet, but I will go to fiber fest on PEI in october, so I'll certainly find nice yarn there. I prefer to see what I buy, because I find buying on line doesn't always give me the colors expected. In the meantime, I am knitting with my stash to make place for the new yarn later.

I'm a new viewer, and I really enjoy the experiment you're doing with the format of this podcast! I do sometimes feel like the 'on my needles, off my needles, next on my needles' format can put a bit too much focus on producing and not on the experience of knitting/crocheting. I still enjoy it, but I like the slow gentle approach you're taking. It's interesting to have a look into other people's regular crafting practice.
I also really enjoy how you play around with colour. I find that a mix of complementary and analogous colours really works for me, but I've never considered playing around with tones (saturated vs. muted, pastels, etc).

Love your podcasts, missing your mom ❤. I was thinking that you can take just little part back of Sophie scarf add some nice color with different yarn and finish with correct yarn. The adding of the stip with different yarn will be not showing that much and at the end you will have the same like at the beginning and you don't have to go all the way to the middle ❤
